So, ok. Got my iPod, now impressions: Well, I tested this in my iPod Touch 4gen with 4.3.3. English isn't my first language, so I will separate the things by pros and cons. Pros: - Nice graphics for iOS devices. - I liked the controls so far (I use 1-stick one) - Good amount of weapons (12 total) - Offline gameplay with bots - Interactive environments (loved that!) Cons: - Baaaaaaad performance - Lags a lot - Repetitive weapons?! - Crashes a lot at least for me (so don't consider this too much). - Gamespy? Really? - Bad AI. - And a sniper rifle without zoom vision (whatever it calls)? I just want some more about performance, lags and crashes, etc.. Controls, weapons (even if they're repetitive, I can try to get over it), graphics are fine. And suggestions: - Ironsight for some weapons. - Crouch option. - Please, move weapon change location.
ianval pretty much summed up my final reactions. The biggest problems so far seem to be bad performance and crashing. Sometimes the AI in bot mode just stand there doing nothing too.
Just one more thing: multiplayer save this game. It's really nice. Some screens: Bad screens, I know.
I tried the carnival of bullets on my ipod 4g and the framerate was bad. Also it looks like there is no gyro aiming option? If so im not buying it.
Is it because the iPad/iPod Touch has 1/2 ram of iPad 2 and iPhone 4 +? I got into a discussion on the Infinity Blade forum, with Mark Rein of Epic, over why the iPad version looked like ass: Has to push a lot of pixels (same with retina) creates a roadblock, with having a lack of ram. These performance issues, just could be well ram related. When I fire this up in iPad 2 (when it arrives in US), I'll report my findings.
Very mixed impressions so far, but I'll be getting it in any case. Wasn't expecting this until tomorrow, but can't wait to play it tonight. Getting this, Siegecraft, and Squids. Totally digging the small file size.
Had 2 crashes out of 2 bot sessions Performance is quite disappointing as well, at times it dips well below 20 fps and stutters when shooting at bots >_< Running on a iOS 5 GM iPhone 4. Rebooted after installing the game.
Shame about the performance. I wonder if it's the bots, would be nice if the online multiplayer is smoother.
Pretty sweet for me, had a little lag online but nothing horrendous, pseudonym is 'Barspins' for anyone who was wondering..
The game crashes for me a few seconds after starting it, every time. I bought the game legitimately of course from the App Store.
Tried Carnival of Bullets on both the iPhone 4 and the iPad2. Plays beautifully on the more recent hardware (with the exception of the control issues that have been already mentioned). On the iPhone 4 it barely breaks 20 FPS as far as I can tell -- and that's without bots or multiplayer. I seriously doubt that the actual game will be fun to play on anything below the iPad2/iPhone 4S.
