I updated the game to 1.0.4 and it STILL won't open. It crashes shortly after the unreal logo. I have a 4th gen iPod touch running (as of a few hours ago) iOS 5. On iOS 4.3.3 it didn't open either at version 1.0.4. Reading through this forum this doesn't seem to be an issue for anyone else. It's a shame, I'm really wanting to play this game. Am I doing something wrong?
Near perfect. Few things to add: More players. We need more players on both offline and online play. No "guest" profiles on offline matches. Ranks Leveling up on offline. K/d ratio. Optional: More characters (or more classes). Pickup able weapons. That's about it.
Sorry to bump the thread, but would it fix the issue if I uninstalled then reinstalled it? I have already done that but that was when I was jailbroken and on iOS 4.3.3
re-installs have been known to fix some problems, but the issue you're describing seems quite uncommon. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes.
Uninstalling and Reinstalling might fix your issue Feltzem. In addition, we advise people to do a hard reset on their device after installing the game. Having lots of other programs running at the same time as Warm Gun has been proven to cause some odd issues/lag/crashes. Warm Gun is a resource intensive game that requires a majority of your device's resources for it to run properly. Hopefully that fixes your errors. Edit: I saw your posts on our own forums shortly after posting this response. Check those forums for a place to email me with your crash report. I'm very interested to see what's causing this issue.
So, I'm one of those guys that can't launch the app in iOS 5.0 (worked perfectly on 4.3.5), and so far, I have installed with a soft reset and installed with a hard reset, neither of which worked. I get to about the end of the ER logo and beginning of the Warm Gun logo before it crashes, usually after a brief black screen. Other notable occurrences, the first time I downloaded the app (just bought), the image for the app icon showed up immediately, but with both re-installs, the image showed up at the very end. I'm not too sure if this has anything to do with it, but I'm going to try deleting the app from my computer's itunes library, as I'm pretty sure my ipod is using the computer file as a master copy (download speeds through my modem were almost zero during re-installs). Hope this helps, I'd really like to see this game running again (as well as some updates?) Just one last thing, when I deleted the app for re-installation, it asked me to remove from Game Center, which, by your word, is not supposed to be connected to.
It's working now. I don't know why, I didn't reinstall it or reboot, apart from a couple times where I turned my iPod off then on. Weird. Anyway, been playing it for the last half hour and it's great Thanks for the suggestions.
is anyone else having a hard time finding matches? The 6 times I've played this today, I only found a match with people once, and DAMN did it lag (even though the ping was at 60 something...) - and no, it's not my connection, I've got broadband, 300kbps upstream, 3MB/s downstream... I'm finding it pretty dead online... But I will say that I'm VERY glad that you do not gain stats or level up by playing more matches... so there's no way that you'll get matched up with level 20 players that totally stomp your ass, it's all a level playing field. I mean, it works for some games... especially if your constantly matched with equally skilled players... but here, I'm glad there's no leveling up. Pretty sure I've got all the maps down though. I know where I like to attack and how, where I like to take a break... la de da... and really, after another performance update or two, this could easily suck up DAYS of my life. =oD
Hey guys - we need your help in figuring out exactly what direction we want to go with the controls: What is your least favorite control scheme and why is it bad? We're not looking at removing any control schemes, but we are looking at improving all three as well as adding at least one more. Just need to know what you guys want now rather than push an update and you guys not like it.
what i wish for the game ... K/D ratio as well as accuracy % and matches played ... ranking system game center enabled more players , 4 is boring! please use good fonts for the game when chatting which is easy to see not white small fonts.... thanks in advance ER if you'll implement this ...
@Amadeus314 The GameCenter thing is probably some legacy warning message from when we were first implementing it. We currently don't have any GameCenter support in the game so there's nothing you'd be deleting. As far as the crashes with iOS 5 are concerned, it does sound like you might've had some transfer issues either through migration to iOS 5 or just with installing the app itself onto your device. In regards to the updates, those are being worked on as we speak. We were able to do a few quick fixes to solve most of the killer issues surrounding the game, but we're running out of those quick solutions. Now we're staring down some more complicated problems. I can't give an exact date on when the next update will be but we're concurrently working on fixing/polishing 30 items. An "item" being a task that isn't up to standards, basic features that were left out, performance/crashing issues, etc. We will be rolling out updates as we finish chunks of those items, which hopefully should result in updates every 1-2 weeks. With that said, please don't take my word for it on the timeline. There are lots of moving parts associated with Warm Gun and sometimes when you start a seemingly moderate task you end up opening a can of worms.
-Left joystick to move -Swipe screen to look around. Currently the reason people are reporting floaty controls is that when you let go of the screen you keep spinning. We need fast, responsive controls. When I let go of the screen, my character should instantly stop looking around/moving. -Left fire button to shoot. As you are firing you need to be able to hold it down and move it around. (Following target with crosshair while firing) This is the most popular FPS control scheme in iOS, and it's what people are used to. (And quite frankly, it's a must for a fast paced frantic shooter like Warm Gun) I love the fact that you (the developers) are right here listening to our feedback and actually asking for what your playerbase wants. Very respectable, and I (and I believe most of us) appreciate it. Can't wait for next update. Regards, Distinct88
Exactly this ! its the iOS standard control method for FPS, play Archetype Modern Combat, NOVA 2 and make something similar. Dead Space and Shadowgun have this method too (I know they are 3rd person shooter, but its the same ) OH! and also please fix the framerate :/, i havent bought this yet because of that (and I am basing my comments on the controls of Carnival of Bullets).
I think it,would also be cool if you could add gyroscopic controllic options. But the major letdown is for me not having ironsight... And the fact the aiming cross is almost not visible...
Yeah, put gyroscope aiming in and I will buy the game. Myself, and a lot of other people, find it hard to play fps on ios without it.
What do you mean by: -left joystick to move -- Do you want it to re-position based on new touches? ie floaty controls? - left fire button to shoot -- 'left'? And with regards to following a target while shooting, have you tried using the dual or triple stick schemes? They have fire joysticks. Thanks for your input; getting controls right is one of our top priorities, and they're already far more responsive due to recent improvements. -Dusten
