    +1!!!
The two classes I wanted to play the most were the Outlaw and the Scout.

    Revised Game Impressions

Okay, the game is better now, not perfect but better. :) The framerate is about 20-25 now? Their is a little lag on my iTouch 3rd Gen but that might be because I'm not using a 4th Gen device. The game is way better IMO.

Btw, I got a 4 or 5 killstreak for the first time! :)

Thanks for your hard work guys. I realize that it didn't come out with all of the praise and fireworks that you probably would have liked, but I respect that you are trying hard to rectify and fix things to build a better game!

I see the basis for what could become a really great game. Please don't get discouraged, there are fans out there who so want this to be a great Multiplayer, deathmatch type game.

Thanks so much for your hard work and paying attention to your early adopters.

We will certainly be tweaking the controls. We tried to branch out when building the current control schemes, but without tons of testing it was hard to get them exactly right.

Contrary to popular belief, controls are hard to adjust from a developer standpoint. A lot of things behind the scenes must be adjusted even if you want to just move or resize a button. Because of this, I'm going to be building a technical roadmap for the developers that details how and (roughly) when certain things will change in regards to the control schemes.

I know you guys are involved enough to post several paragraph impressions of the game (and your associated disdain for the controls)...would you guys want to see the technical roadmap once it's done? I assume that would give you the most detailed response possible in terms of where we're going with the controls. Opinions on the roadmap would of course be welcomed, as always.

Let me know if this is something you guys would want to see, else we'll just post our updates as we finish certain tasks.

So playing a few games with the update out... The addition of seeing the ping of each server is a nice feature.

More importantly, it is running better. The game was running fine yesterday on my 3GS, but after the update it seems to be more consistent. However, once and a while I'll still have where I fire my gun, but no animation or sound plays, but the enemy still takes damage (this is in offline mode). The FPS seem to be more evened out, however, and there is little stuttering or skipping now.

I really hope the update with the fixed GUI is out soon though as it's becoming more and more frustrating being unable to clearly read or see most things. All the in-game ticker feeds are mashed together so it's neigh impossible to see who is fragging who. Also, and this is a big one as well, a kill counter while in the game MUST be put in ASAP. It's really annoying not knowing how close the game is to ending. Usually your controls lock up and then you'll see the "top gunner" award and it's a little annoying not knowing how much you won or lost by.

And as it stands now... The game doesn't require any skill, or it feels that way at times. It seems nearly random at times when you die. Sometimes the hit indicators don't pop up and you'll die from what appears to be one hit. Other times you'll see hit markers all day and be able to skip out of a firefight alive. Also, it seems like The Blacksmith is the best class to be if you want to win. You can just hold down the fire button and go to town with the minigun. I don't think it ever runs out of ammunition or that it needs to be reloaded. One match I played everyone ended up being The Blacksmith and just running around with the minigun because while it does relatively low damage, it's so constant and in FFA everyone is usually damaged so you can finish them off really quick.

That said, my favourite class is the 49er. Pistol is awesome, shotgun is fun, the Molotov has such a slow start up to use that it's really hard to use effectively when compared with the Preachers Holy Water bombs (or whatever they're called). But online... If you want to win, use The Blacksmith and spam the Minigun.

Still having fun with the game and the improvements in reliability and stable gameplay is welcomed, though there are still several things that need to be tweaked, as mentioned above.

EDIT: About controls... I find it hard to complain, critique or recommend any changes to them. I find the three stick method works effectively one you adjust to it. The Single stick method leads to me being unable to Aim and Shoot at the same time consistently, as well as constantly firing errant rounds when I'm just trying to look around.

I do find it hard to get to the menu to change classes though. Maybe my fingers are just too chubby to constantly hit the Menu button, but perhaps consider placing a "Change Class" button under the "Respawn Button" would be a nice thing so I can change class easily when I die instead of having to try and frantically change class while dodging enemy bullets.

The performance is significantly better now. The framerate is much smoother now, but could still use a little bit of a work. Now, the controls just need to be fixed/improved to make the game completely playable. After that, just add in all the features a normal online FPS has, and it should be an awesome game. You guys are currently 88th on the paid games chart. Keep up the good work. Hoping to see more updates soon!

Great to hear the framerate has improved for everyone, and once again we apologize for the shaky start! Many updates to come :)

Like others have said, the framerate it better with the update, but still not great. This update really boosted my faith in this game, that the devs will actually try to make it better! One thing that I think is really needed is an ironsight view of each gun, especially the shaman's(?) gun, which has a scope. It would allow for more skilled shots and diverse use of the weapons. A crouch button would also be nice. Thanks for all the work so far!

Nice improvements in performance, even on the iPhone 4. The control update makes the game playable for me (using the single joystick option). For my money, Shadowgun has the best shooter controls on iOS (MC2 always seemed "sticky" to me), but the set up here seems okay to me. As I expected, with the improved performance and controls the game has a nice solid feel that is missing from Gameloft shooters.

Of course, the other issues I had with the game (limited gameplay, no clear indication of game progress, no stat tracking, etc.) haven't gone away. But it seems like the foundation is stronger now. Hopefully updates will keep on coming.

I second this. Especially the "free move pad" control scheme which helps keep your finger out of the way as it allows you to start the joystick from the very bottom of the screen. I think a control scheme like this could definitely be a viable option in Warm Gun.

Haven't you played Shadowgun? Those controls are the current bar setters.

I have played it, and I was agreeing with squarezero about it having the best controls. Then I stated how I specifically prefer the "free move pad" in shadowgun and that it could work well with warm gun.

Gotta admit I'm impressed with the devs of this game scurrying to make quick updates here, that means a lot! They really are trying to atone for their shaky start, and that DOES show me something and makes me want to support them. I did dump the freebie game, and I'll keep an eye out for further improvements here, but I'm gonna have to watch from a distance on this one 'cause I just can't get myself to jump right in and ride this storm out.

I agree completely. I thought that modern combat and nova were going to be the standards for shooters, but I was oh so wrong. Shadowgun shows us that a third person firing system is where it's at on iOS.

Can anyone tell me how this works on ipod touch 4g? I have CoB but it has a terrible frame rate, and it seems ER have only updated the original app. So how does this work now?

update already? lets try it out and see whether they've increased the framerate. kind of sad how you guys could do so much better but ruined the first impression by showing laggy gameplay. you guys should have finished making the game and then release it, not a unfinished game. also, updates should be for more guns, and weapons, or new stuffs, not performance increasement.
warm gun has alot of potential, first make the controls better and the performance better. then add more weapons or characters. and when the game gets popular, add more maps.

and also, warm gun: cob should have given people a good impression about the game, not a dissapointment.

you guys should just erase warm gun cob or update it with more features, theres really nothing to do in that

    app.

^Yep you stick the dagger in ;)

There were apparently some mistakes made and they quickly rectified it. How many of us would normally get Warm Gun on a thursday 12am ? Instead it came out a few days earlier, granted very buggy but its fixed now on a wednesday and is working far far better. If the dev didnt come to this thread and the update was weeks away then i would be moaning big time. Instead a wait of 24 hours wasnt the worst.

Anyway enjoying this, still think the controls need some work but overall the games running much better
