Unfortunately, I won't get to play games like Warm Gun anytime soon (since I'm stuck with a 2G iPod Touch). But I do like to read about the "hot" new games coming out even if I can't get them. That said, I think this statement is a problem with the App Store mentality. There always seems to be a rush to get things out and fix things later if there are issues. To me, this just leads to greater customer frustration and lack of confidence in future purchases until things are fixed. I'm a computer programmer in the business sector and we would never even think of releasing something before we thought it was perfectly ready. Sure, problems that we didn't think of come up and bug-fixes still occur. But if there's something that we knew ahead of time would possibly be an issue, we'd pull it from our release and wait to put it in. Video games in general often suffer from similar consequences just to make release dates. But in the App Store, I wouldn't think it would be as much of an issue to say, we'll wait a couple more weeks to iron things out before we submit it to Apple. I'm not a iOS dev, but there seems to be a bit more flexiblity there since you're not having to worry about physical media, etc. Just a thought...or rambling...
I would like to make an addition to the words you stand true to: "Release early, but not too early and Update often."
Hahaha point taken Just try to keep in mind we are indie and we need the support of a games launch to help move things forward. This is a progression and we had to step out into the world at some point. We just hope you continue to join us for the ride, it's going to get good! I know firsthand how hard the Gunners have worked and they are all dedicated to this game. These issues are not going to hold us back from making Warm Gun a fun experience.
No offence, but i think "release early and update often" is a terrible philosophy to have. I don't often give games space on my ipod if they dont run well from the getgo. And i doubt the average consumer will be waiting around for updates.
so asked two times about the gameplay video with new settings for iphone 4 and the question is ignored, so it's ok to assume that the framerate is not really fixed?
Good to hear. If this update is as advertised, then it's enough to keep me playing while other updates are pushed out. Hope it also jump starts MP.
Maybe they're busy? Jumping to ridiculous conclusions only disrupts things. Maybe someone will post a video after it's released.
Hey. Dont post here often, but have a question. I've tried all 5 maps, which is the one with the river and the desert mountain that is being shot to pieces with the minigun in the gameplay trailer ? Thanks.
why it's ridiculous? to make a video and upload to youtube should be easy. and it won't take more time than posting here tnxs and the same info again and again. it actually can be very useful for them. to show that it's working nice and to get more sells and better reviews.
Games like this are the reason why I've preordered a Playstation Vita. I just want to play action games again without having to adapt to touch-only controls.
I'm not saying this in a trolling way whatsoever. I don't even own the full version. I tried CoB and wasn't very impressed. I'm wondering if this could be the biggest disappointment between pre-game coverage/hype vs initial reaction of this year. What are your actual, non-hyperbole thoughts?
I think we'll know for sure after a couple of updates. If their plan was to release a bare-boned version of the game and deepen it with a constant stream of updates, this may turn out to be a fun ride. But first they need to get the basics right: decent performance across supported devices, decent controls, and at least some form of stat tracking. Personally I believe that if the devs had held up the release until those issues were handled, the tenor of this thread would be very different. If three to six months from now the game is still a 4 player deathmatch, I would be the first to agree with your statement.
Good points, although it was more meant as a question rather than a statement. I wouldn't presume to make a definitive statement on a game I don't own. I was just asking based on pre-release hype vs post-release reactions.
Your unwillingness to make conclusive statements about a game you haven't played strikes me as, well, quaint . Personally, the fact that Warm Gun was not going to have a single player campaign had already dampened my enthusiasm for the game, so I wasn't that disappointed. But I did expect then to get the basics right, just as Archetype and Deadlock had (to mention two other indie multiplayer-only releases).
