I just hope it also has a complete package IAP, not just a heap of single purchasable items. I don't like that. Really.
I agree with you on that. I'm pretty sure that right off the bat they have the three additional warriors and the Skaven expansion as seperate iap. It would be nice if it was one bundle. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they choose to implement their iap. As long as the game is excellent, I'll most likely purchase all of the iap no matter what.
I'm not allowed to talk about the IAPS so I'll be probably killed soon but don't think something like: Buy +1 attack sword : 3 dollars thing. or Oh, your mighty Marauder was killed by the Orc Warchief...reload or pay 3 dollars to resurrect. If you are familiar with the boardgame...it's the exact thing about IAPS in the game. So you can buy new 'miniatures' and all their skills/background/unique objects, like you did for the boardgame, and new expansions (which are pretty massive)...think the new adventures pack you bought for the boardgame plus semi-official articles from White Dwarf. I do not know if they will offer a 'multipack' where you can buy multiple things togheter, but you will have a pretty clear choice on what you get. I might add that the 'core' game is massive on its own already. I can say from experience (and I'm talking about the boardgame experience) that usually, as it comes to miniatures, everyone have their preferred characters. So back in the days...if I really wanted the Trollslayer or the Bretonnian Knight...I bought it. Here it's the same. They play very differently too, so it really comes down to personal preference. The expansion is a different thing...think it like a massive DLC (there is one small additional detail I'm not sure I'm allowed to disclose so I wont', but for me it made a big and nice difference). I know I'm saying things already stated more or less officially, but I just wanted to make it clear there aren't iaps like in Dungeon Hunter 4, just to make an example. It's an hardcore game, not a iap ridden experience. While I'll surely get the expansion on day 1, I'll get the characters ('miniatures' ) I feel I want to use for the campaign (or the hardcore)...that is to say probably all of them Because I really anticipate the 'DLC on day one' thing...I can say the core game is massive, and the DLC is equally massive. If you buy the game and do not like it...well...ok. If you buy the game and like it, you will probably buy the DLC asap and looking forward next ones with great anticipation. Could they release the game + DLC + all characters with another price point (which I have no clue about) from the start? Sure they could, but doing as they will do, they will give you the choice, expecially for people unsure about the game or the genre. Besides I really think (this is just my speculation) DLC on day one is done on pourpose for a very simple but important thing: make clear it is a modular game you could buy additional adventures for a long time...just like you did with your old RPGs or the boardgame (something sadly that seems forgotten by the today core odience). Personally I would be really happy if they could publish an expansion every 2 months for a long time, plus new characters here and there (Bretonnian knight, I WANT you).
With what I've heard so far in these many months I'm not concerned with the game becoming stale. Even if they pump out the three official expansions from the orig board game we will be fine as every aspect from it integrates into the core game, and you can make random dungeons and continue to lvl up or die permanently to your hearts content. I still play random dungeons on my physical board game copy and its fantastic. The only IAP crap I don't want to see is spend 1.99 for x amount of gold, but it sounds like that will not be the case. I can follow the example given that the IAP structure is more like purchasing miniatures or boxed expansions for the original game. This is how table top games operate and I feel is very fair to implement it this way on the App Store. I got them to confirm on Facebook a few days ago that they have submitted to apple so look forward to getting your hands on it in a few weeks (if course it has to pass apple and may be delayed for PR stuff).
Yeah, no consumables in WHQ, just permanent purchases. But I wasn't even talking about a different price point for the complete package. Pricing is absolutely unimportant. Just take a look at Summoner Wars. I can spent my money the way I want. No matter what I want to buy. I just wanna know how much GW is paying you for your impressions here.
Knowing GW I doubt they will miss the trick of selling individual "digital miniatures" (I should trademark that!), however, because it is GW, I am strangely ok with it..... To be honest I'll chuck some money at them so they think "this iOS platform is good, what else can we put on it?"!
You can bet your ass that there will be purchaseable gold in this game. It is nearly common sense to do that on this platform. And RodeoGames did it in Hunters 2 as well. But as long as you don't need the gold to beat the game, it is okay for me (and believe me, you really don't need it here). There will always be people who don't want to wait until they earned enough money to buy the big sword or the shimmering helmet. So they are buying the gold. I think that is okay, they are throwing money at RodeoGames - and RodeoGames can take that money and make new expansions for us! ;-) As for me - I don't need the gold-purchases. I'm going to pay the iron price...
I have never payed for the gold in any game. As far as I'm concerned, it's cheating and a waste of money. I want to earn those awesome items, skills, etc. the way the game intended them to be earned.
Yeah, agreed! Absolutely a waste of money. Maybe some people have to much money. But as long as they are giving it to RodeoGames I'm okay with that!
Personally I never even thought of buying 'gold' iaps in any game, and I even never understood why one should do or need it (if a game is balanced to make you buy those, I simply delete it). If someone want to get a legendary item at level 1 and must throw money to Rodeo Games to do so...I have no problem with that
There are a lot of games that are balanced between money and time. You can spend more money or you can spend more time grinding. Depending on the game, you might want to do one in some circumstances and the other in other circumstances. You often get to the same place in the end.
Yeah I know, maybe I expressed myself wrong. I just delete those games, bar the ones that are made to be time wasters (Tiny Towers comes to mind). Generally I hate grinding, EXPECIALLY in story based games (meaning having to repeat doing the same thing over and over till complete boredom just to accumulate experience/gold/whatever to pass a certain point because normal playing can't get you past there) Anyway it's not certainly the case here, as it wasn't in Hunters 2.
That's what I'm saying!! Come and get it, RodeoGames! I will throw my money at them, too. But not for the in-game-gold!
I'm not into grinding either. I agree that it makes a game boring and repetitive and when the grinding starts, I usually move on to something else.
Ha! HA! Nothing beat a good grinding. So much possibilities. While grinding, you can relax deeply, let your mind, your thoughts wander, think about things you normally haven't time to waste on, yet you're still playing and doing something. Grinding can be like meditating with a fun factor.
Wow guess you don't play many RPGs then I love that feeling when you've levelled up so much that you can just abuse the enemy by walking though missions with ease and even taking the pi$$ by only using one guy or something Nothing like a good grind, of course the game has to be good enough to start with though.
LOL. To each its own I suppose. I usually hate when you are overpowered and nothing can touch you. That's why I usually love low level character parts in gaming...when a single hit can almost kill you. I like taking care of my character...I usually get bored when I have a over 100 HP char, enemies hit me for 5 HP at most, and I have a stack of 30 full HP potions anyway. That's why I love Warhammer so much, btw. A normal blow can take half of your HPs away, even at level cap.
I'm away from my iPad now plus I do not know if I'm allowed to disclose the size (I see no harm but they can always change things now, add movies or new splashscreens...) but I think it's much bigger than Hunters 2 (which was less than 200 Mb if I recall well).
