They seem to like it Nice to see someone not having any attachment to the original boardgame and evaluating it just as a VIDEOGAME liking it so much.
To be honest, I'm very sad about the spoiler. That moment in the beta was a great one to experience first-hand. Overall it's a very good game so far - can't wait for it to be released!
Yes, they could have least marked it as spoiler. Fortunately, there are other such (even better) moments to experience.
Anyone know if iPhone 4 will run this game? It seems like a newer gen device would be needed. And only iPad was mentioned in the preview. Is this definitely coming to iPhone? So is the Quest coming out this month? ---- Also, since this was from the Hunter series dev, I had thought this was going to be a Warhammer 40K game. So I was suprised to find out this was a fantasy game. How would a fantasy tactical strategy game play? Would there still be mechanics like line of sight, flanking, etc. (but with magic and medical weapons of course)?
I believe someone posted this video earlier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAr67DEd5B4 This is Warhammer Quest, the board game, and you can assume that the iOS game is a faithful reproduction of the board game mechanics as far as I can tell. The board game mechanics are slightly different to the Hunter series, though, I think it's important to be aware of that. I, for one, wasn't, but after learning what the board game was like I was able to appreciate the differences, and realize that the game was a great digital version of the original board game - with all its quirks, which one might wonder why they are in place until we go to the board game manual and realize that they're actually part of the game rules and mechanics. That video should let you know what the game is based on, and hopefully shed some light in terms of what we might be able to expect when the game is released. Hope this helps - and hope I'm not saying anything I shouldn't.
I hope they don't kill me for saying this, but Rodeo Games really outdone themselves with the latest campaigns quests. So freaking awesome, they managed to really surprise me even after 25 hours and despite being pretty familiar with both the setting and the game. It's all so...so...so...Warhammer-ish. I LOVE it.
At the moment I played the beta for 23 hours and 40 minutes. And I can't stop! And I have not seen anything the game has to offer! Nuff said!
@Pitta: could you answer these please? And is the world just dungeons (level based) or do you travel between towns (open world)?
@Bronxsta WHQ will be universal, ist will run on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. It will require iOS 6, so the iPad 1 is not supported. The devs planing for a may release, i think this is possible. But for sure only the devs can tell you that. As the previews stated, there is an open world with mutiple towns and the underground dungeons. Just read the preview here on TA. The beta participants are not allowed to share any details of the game. And there will be a Warhammer40k game on iOS. It is actually in development at Slitherine!
Sorry I do not know, I'm testing on iPad 3 only. Also, as already stated by some previews like THIS ONE...so I'm not revealing any secret here, yes can you travel between towns freely as long you know their position. The world map is probably the best one I ever witnessed in a video game. But beware...as already stated...events occurs while traveling....not always pleasant events Hope it helps!!!
Actually I played more...that's just my main game. I've played other groups of characters another 5 hours or so, for testing pourposes. And yes, I'm really enjoying it
Sounds awesome. I thought it would just dungeon levels, but now it seems like an open world with random events. Amazing. And 20+ hours of gameplay? Wow, is that all new content or was there grinding?
No grinding, just played as quests came. I want to be more precise (or clarify what it's just written in the preview) because maybe you are reading too much in it. I'm not sure you are familiar with the boardgame (which is NOT an open world RPG, by any means), but you do not wander in a open world: you travel between cities (events can happen while you travel, one event per week if I recall well...I've not the rule book near ATM). The core of the game, where 90 percent of the gameplay occurs, is in the dungeons.
Ehehehehe...just wanted to give some feedback. I'm sure soon the marketing campaign will start so I will be forgotten fast.
Everyday I see new posts here I hope it's either 1. Here's the release date (and its magically the upcoming Thursday) or 2. It's a message from the developer saying here's your beta invite SirFobos, sorry we forgot about you. Lol Really looking forward to the developers FAQ video which should be available soon. Also for everyone asking, the dev has confirmed it is universal.
The board game did, indeed, have one potential random event per week of travel. It generally took two weeks to travel to a Village, four weeks to travel to a Town and six weeks to travel to a City. I have no idea how it will work in the Rodeo version, but I am hoping there is still decision making when travelling and while in settlements. I'm confident Rodeo Games combat model will be solid, but I'm very curious how they handle the "in-between" stuff (which adds to the "roleplay" aspect of the game).
