Need some weapon advice...are you all using Masterwork gear, or magic gear with critical chance? The magic weapons tend to run lower in base damage, but the critical damage potential is pretty great...

    Quick question

I am new to the whole board game thing. I am wondering where is the best place to start. I am looking at this game, Talisman Prologue and Agricola. Although the comments I've read about Agricola are putting me off somewhat. Maybe there is a better choice for a newcomer like me.

Thanks in advance for any pointers given.

This is the one to get! It's fairly easy to pick up but does have tons of depth if you want to read all the cards, stats, backgrounds etc
If not that fine too!! Don't worry about any iap for now, there is a basic TA guide for this game too.

    Starting game gold glitch :

Start a new game. Play the tutorial or skip it and afterwards you will recieve 50 gold. Now go back to the main menu.

Open up you're save slot. You will recieve another 50 gold. Continue for as long as you / want too.

With some practice it gets a lot quick. I obtained 4000 gold (£1.99 IAP) within 45 minutes.

Great if you want to start a new play through without having to grind or pay real cash.

Well I have this and Agricola - and as a total newcomer to Agricola, I honestly have no clue what's going on - so have just left it well alone for now. Finding it quite unapproachable currently. This, on the other hand, just rocks...

Thanks for that. Yeah I reckoned Warhammer would be the one to go for. It looks great. Just wasn't sure how it played :)

I was so excited to see that the update was out. Finally I can play this game without crashing every five minutes and have things move more smoothly. I was a fool lol. I will admit though, the characters movements and load times are much quicker. But that doesn't help me any when I crash every five minutes and it kicks me out of the dungeon on reload. Progress is being made, but ill have to shelf this title until its updated again or start thinking about if I should've bought a sandwich instead.

Great Warhammer Quest update. I did not even have to clear up space forit to install Whichever wizard the developer hired to do it is worth every penny...

Out of the three you listed, I feel that Warhammer Quest is the easiest to play. Talisman Prologue has lots of randomness that is beyond your control, and people are saying Agricola is more complex than Stone Age which is already quite complex...

Cheers for the heads up, notification came in as reading your comment :)

Hmm didnt feel that LVL 1 was difficult enough to need rebalancing.

While I agree, WQ is a very different kind of board game from Agricola. WQ plays more like a dungeon crawler. You could play WQ without ever knowing it was based on a board game.

If you ever do want to get into "euro" style strategy board games, then games like Stone Age or Le Harve are probably better starting points (or maybe other style strategy board games like Summoner Wars or Carcassonne). Though Agricola has easily the best iOS port of the "euros":)

Carcassone and Catan are probably the easiest of the Euro games to get the hang of. I find the XBox 360 versions of those games easier to learn compared to the iOS versions. The iOS AIs seem much tougher...

Why not just get them all? All these games together will still run you less than an XBox game.

They should've made levels 5-6 quite harder IMHO. Apart from the last dungeon, everything is a walk in the park. You walk like superheroes all the time if you've been lucky enough to snatch some orange loot. Even in Hunters you had to be on your toes all the time, that's not the case here unfortunately.

So Rodeo, please give us a harder level 6 and make it optional so casual ppl don't complain too much.

Apart from my complaint, everything is top notch! An instant classic!

Guess I'm the only one that seems to be ecstatic with the update. On the 3GS, I never had any issues losing progress or some of the other in-game crashes that seem to be plaguing mostly iPod 4Gs (only had maybe two or three and always started where I left off). But my biggest issue was crashing on start up. It was frustrating as hell that it might take a dozen launches to get into the game and maybe none the next time. But now it seems to start without crash every time.

Great game and now I can play without worrying about how long it will take me too get it running. Performance was never an issue once the game got up and running.

New update is great (thanks for fixing iCloud), but sadly (for me) it came a bit to late to save those three hours :/

I never had any issues other than crashing on the last red quest in the expansion, and others had mentioned it as well. Good news! The update fixed the problem and I can finally finish off the skaven scum!

I'm glad that a lot of people's issues were addressed, I'm just really getting frustrated. This game is fun, and there is a positive side to all my crashing: I keep my random loot from the runs and everybody has great gear at level 2! Lol. Once I can reliably play the game it'll be easier than the souls games as a pyromancer.
