Right, "chance determining outcomes" is the basis of most board games, I meant that this game uses the exact WHQ die rolls (roll a d6 with only a 5 and 6 being a hit with WS of X) to drive its engine as it were.
IAPs? Great game! It's Hunters filled out into a full adventure (minus guns... but admittedly, the Hammer weapon in hunters made for the most satisfying kills). My question: I'd pay $5 to unlock all of the extra content, but not $3 for a single character. Is there any way to earn the characters locked behind IAP?
As far as I can see, WHQ for iOS doesn't have any similarities to Hunters except those that (1) come from using a shared interface, and (2) come from similarities in the games themselves. Maybe there's some deep similarity that I'm missing. But to me they seem exactly as similar as you would expect if you heard that the developers of Hunters were going to use the Hunters engine to implement the WHQ game.
Nope. You have to pay for them. As soon as I finish my first play-through I'll be unlocking the other three characters and the expansion. I've been having such good fun with this that I feel like I'm stealing from the devs!
Agreed, I'm more than happy to pay for the expansion but characters are a bit overpriced. I think the loot drops in the base game for them tend to put me off a bit as well, even though their purpose is meant to have the opposite effect.
Last dungeon after all main quest are done is overkill, played it for a very long time and my party unfortunately met a terrible end. Used starting party characters even though my Trollslayer is higher level than Dwarf Ironbreaker. First mistake - forgot about blessing and visiting temple with everyone before starting dungeon.I did stock them all up with mostly health potions and couple of scrolls , probably should have also put additional items in inventory. God I hate all those penalties you get in idol quest. And corridor part where you have to avoid falling blocks and usually get damaged and ofc ambushed right after someone looses health from that. There was 2 reinforcement waves of black orcs but I breezed relatively easy trough them with some scroll used. After that it was a slow pace trough 2 empty rooms, one with familiar corpse and went into room literally full with again orcs.It was all more-less ok until 7 orcs showed at my back near wizard and Waywatcher and started hitting them badly.Problem was turn before I was trying to speed up clearing process and used almost all additional wizard spell points on bolts. He got hit bad and even though I managed to keep him alive with bandages for some turns, just couldn't kill them with melee attack of elf and wizard ( others were pinned and anyway didn't have space to move around and wouldn't make much difference as they were totally surrounded in every possible direction ). Wizard fell just as 2 orcs at back were still alive and elf herb spell failed ofc ( damn you unlucky roll ). I did manage to kill all other orcs with the rest, but was now faced with 1 small bandages left in whole party.I knew elf was my main healer and that can't be good Anyway didn't worry much as I knew dungeon should end soon knowing how long they usually are.Boy was I wrong, one more room full with enemies. After that one more and a twist with weapons.Lost my marauder there.Than one more room , wth ? I wanted to quit now, room was again full with tough enemies, but I was down to Dwarf and Waywatcher. And somehow managed to kill most enemies along with shaman with them both. After dwarf fell, It was now down to chief Orc with fancy equipment and 3 of his grunts. As my Waywatcher gets maybe hit 1 in 5 times I was certain this is going well.Game probably read my thought and called in reinforcement of 7 orcs.It was game over with poor Waywatcher encircled, she did manage to survive for another 2 rounds and as she died she sent Orc chieftenant arrow in head as a goodbye note. Damit was this close to finishing it......
question: i was "just looking" at the IAP's the other night out of curiosity and for the 3 new characters and the scenario it says Available. but, for all of the three gold selections it says Cannot Purchase. i don't intend to buy gold but why does it say Cannot Purchase? the guy from here that does the videos (Touchgamplay) has his normal spot on gameplay video out and at the end you can see it says the same thing for his game so i know it's not just me. anyone know why gold is not available?
Choices or branching paths in scripted quests As many others, I'm already hooked on this game! So far I haven't seen a lot of comments regarding the choices in the scripted (red) quests. For example, for the first quest... Spoiler refusing to hand over the music instrument opened up a second quest. Yet, for the quest in the 2nd settlement... Spoiler whether you took the time to check the treasure room before saving the donkey, or didn't do so, didn't seem to change much. For those who went further into the game, do you have any recommandations about which choices to make? Are there any consequences to using the "reset quests" feature in a settlement? Thanks in advance for the advice!
I played the craziest white quest last night. I'm now at level 4-5 trying to get everyone up to 5 to finish the last 1-2 red quests. I've been grinding in white quests to level up and I ran into this quest that must have lasted at least an hour. I had party members die at least 10 times and always found a way to revive, I'd be so close to dead and then 9 guys would spawn and then another 5 etc, so much unexpected stuff and close calls, and I somehow pulled through and completed the quest with all 4 members... that was a great experience! I wish more of this game felt that way, other than this quest it's not been all that challenging. I would give hardcore mode a try, but I'm not willing to play with perma-death. Still getting frequent crashes after completing dungeons, right after the exp totals.
For first one, bard quest it doesn't matter what you choose you will always get revenge quest. There is quest "political intrigies" I'm interested what happens if you choose another road though.
I don't get this. WHQ on the iPad is WHQ without the dice rolls visible with a bit added in (paying for gold, creating more of a campaign vibe and so on) but is very true and faithful to the board game itself. What do you see that dramatically different from the board game? Did the characters not have restricted turn based movement? Did they not get randomly picked skills? Did combat not have the exact restrictions we see here? I really want to know as I don't see it. Take away all the bells and whistles, just like with kotor, and you've got a own and paper system there.
So there is no ending this game? After the black quest its rinse and repeat? What is the best place to farm for orange stuff? I got a two handed mace for my dwarf worth 9k gold. That weapon is simply amazing.
I'm not saying it's dramatically different, in fact, not sure how my comments have been this distorted. It's just that it looks, feels, and plays like WHQ mod for Hunters 2. It does not feel like a game that was created from the ground up to be WHQ. That is all I was saying. This is not WHQ using the H2 engine, this is a very in-depth modification of H2 to use WHQ rules to resolve combat, presented with WH themed assets. If H2 had been a PC game, this is the sort of mod the user community could have produced on their own. It does provide for a different use experience, but at no point is there any illusion this isn't a H2 mod. That's not a bad thing, it's what I assumed we'd be getting all along. What I don't understand is how anyone plays this and says it's a completely different game.
I just remembered a couple of glitches I had last night. One was when I equipped my wizard with a ring to boost his wounds +8. It didn't affect his stats, and I had to remove and re-equip the ring for it to take effect. I had a similar thing with my archer, I gave her a new sword but the game behaved as if she had no melee weapon equipped. I had to remove and re-equip it before she could fight with it. Strange. The game also allowed me to equip her with one green tier sword and one blue tier sword, which I thought was pretty strange cause I don't think she can dual wield swords.
The game mechanisms are completely different. You seem to be focusing on the fact that the game engine is the same and the interface is similar in many ways. Of course that's true, but so what? There are many different ways you could build the engine and the interface, it could look a lot like Hunters or completely different from Hunters, one is about as good as the other. In any case, the people who are pointing out that it's a different game are focused on the actual game mechanisms, not on the superficial aspects of the engine and interface.
Wtf looool. Ive played nearly 28 hours and havent found this weapon yet. You find it in the last dungeon? And for now yes its rinse and repeat until the next IAP content is out. Ive read they are making it atm. I hope they add demons or centaurs. You could also try another play through with the other 3 warriors.
