You need to cast it before doing any melee attacks and have a bow equipped and then it'll do what you're expecting it to.
You can tap the screen to skip them almost as soon as they appear. So you get the name of the town, then tap and you're back in the game.
Yeah I had a round where they almost all counter-attacked too. I went looking in the manual and I think I found a reference to how that can happen sometimes, but I don't think there's any particular 'stand guard' mode or anything. Pity, because the game feels a lot less strategic without this move option (although I guess if it's not there it's because it wasn't there in the board game, and the best you can do is hope for a counter-attack roll or something?). Although I try to move my men so as to not trigger an attack I'm not ready for, that strategy is negated by the ability of mobs to spawn quite literally right next to your team at any time. It's all great fun, but after a month of solid XCOM on my Mac, feels a bit shallow.
Hi, I also had some questions on this yesterday and decided to google the manual for original boardgame. Check this from page 44 onward and see especially the skills column for classes and following text pages for futher info on training: http://users.telenet.be/WHQ_TheHouse/Docs/WHQ%20-%20Roleplay%20Book%20v1.01.pdf On certain levels you do not get an ability/skill at all, this is not random, it is fixed for selected character class. Wood elf does not get an ability when leveling to 3. Dwarf does not get a new one when leveling to 4. Barbarian does not get new one when training to lvl 6. Wizards have different rules and follow those. Dlc chars are most probably similar. When you are supposed to get one for your character you will get a random roll between 12 different alternatives (presuming all abilities/skills are coded 1=1). You can not roll 'nothing' as you will reroll if rolling your former ability again. At least this makes more sense to me personally now having not played the boardgame. Much happier now, but probably these could be said explicitly in the game as well (through future updates?).
Ah, this would be the tutorial I never got, then. I selected that I wanted the tutorial, then the prologue quest started and I was given no help whatsoever to play the game. I've played Hunters so I worked it out for myself, but at no point was anything ever explained except in journal pages that came later. Unless it's explained in the journal? I looked there, found nothing. Maybe when I selected that I did want the tutorial I mistakenly selected that I didn't. But I'm 100% sure that I said I did. Anyway, I'm not the first to ask, won't be the last. But hey, don't let me take away from your need to be soooo superior.
So nobody else gets the glitch where the Dwarf Ironbreaker crashes the game while attacking? It's gotten to the point where I just don't use him, I replaced him with the Warrior Preist but I really don't like him that much.. He's kindof like a Blue Mage I guess in terms of his abilities(not that you get the abilities from enimies or anything). I never use blue Mages... I wish he was more like the wizard and could heal and stuff.. I guess I understand that the misses happen because of a dice roll, but it still seems to happen too frequently for both my party And the enimies. The thing I'm not liking the most is if you don't hurry one character ahead you'll have to randomly fight more monsters.. Your suppose to be best keeping your party together but for this reason I don't. I dunno it just doesn't feel right. The Dungeons are starting to all feel the same with the same enimies, kind of getting a bit repetitive.. I can see people that actually played the board game really liking this but for someone that hasn't its just pretty good.. No where near the best game ever on IOS.
Any idea for a solution to the crash issues? i have an ipod touch 4G. Everything is updated, I've done resets, not running any other apps and I'm still getting lots of crashes. I wrote to Rodeo and was told they are working on the issues but any help from the community would be greatly appreciated.
In the inventory screen if you click the star at the top right it will show you at which level the characters get a new skill.
Looking at the manual you linked to Styles, it's interesting to see what they haven't ported from the role play rules like the Alchemist, Alehouse, Gambling House, Wizard Guild, Pistols, Pits, Doors, many of the spells (unless they are there in Hardcore), cave in, portcullis, various traps, secret doors, searching. Looking at the "default" 15 spells, the game is less of a straight port than I thought. Interesting.
Still crashing too much to even progress in the game. I am thinking of deleting the game then reinstall when the new update is in. Since my game is saved in iCloud, I should be able to pick up where I left off?
What are the recommendations for team set-ups? As a previous none player I'm struggling with a rangeless wizard.
Some games saved to iCloud only exist while its app is installed on your iDevice, while others will stay there regardless of app installed status. Not too sure which is the case with Warhammer Quest... What do you mean by rangeless wizard? My grey wizard can move as far and target as far as my other party members... My current team: Space marine warrior priest, elf archer (has a ninja portrait), grey wizard and archmage. Space marine as tank, and if the enemies have little hp, can take out a huge crowd when I plonk him right in the middle of them. The two spell casters for healing.
Are the people reporting crashes playing the original 4 classes or the IAP characters? I wonder if there is a link?
Ehrm, my wizard is level 6 and didn't receive a Teleport skill... I guess we get random skills when characters level up... My final skills as Grey Wizard lvl. 6:
Nah, that's not true. It is explained in Journal: every time BEFORE your mage starts to catch the Winds (i.e. at the very beginning of the turn) there is a chance that some of your heroes can detect a special encounter. This encounter can be a halfing making you a meal or a corpse to investigate, or a surprise attack. So if it happens - your mage is interrupted in catching the Winds and starts turn without mana
