Tricky game, I'm starting to earn loot for the IAP classes I haven't purchased. Guess I'll sell it. This game has immediately made most of my other dungeon games obsolete, it really beats them at their own game and then some. Time to delete some apps.
I have had the same problem. Started play on my iPad and completed the first quest but hadn't gone to town yet. Exited the app and went over to my iPhone to check iCloud sync and sure enough my phone (first time running the app) was synced right to the same part of turning in the quest before town. Went back on the iPad and played another hour or two and finished off a couple story quests and went to town. This was all on WIFI. Started my game up on the iPhone (not on WIFI) this morning and it showed "syncing iCloud progress" and reset me back to where it had left off last night (finished first quest, not yet to town. Got back home from work and tried on the iPad and it sync'd the iPhone progress and overwrote my 2 hours of play on the iPad. Beyond that, loving the game, the interface and everything else!
I love the moody bastage but never knowing if your archmage will be bolstering your defenses or helping take out a baddy from turn to turn can be maddening. Lots of needing to adapt on the fly to his whims.
Not that he isn't squishy, but he's got the highest weapon skill of any of my warriors at L3. Get a good weapon on him and he can clear out nearby enemies just fine. He's almost definitely going to be part of the Hardcore team after I thrash the game silly on adventurer.
I just realized you could simply use any healing item or spell on a recently downed ally (when they are shown on screen with a skull over them for one turn); that makes hardcore mode so much easier. I'm surprised by this option.
I am beyond impressed with this title. I recently got into Warhammer (wfrp 3rd Ed, and fantasy wargame), and I am fascinated by the lore and just how brutal the world is. This game nails the mood perfectly and it presents what is easily the best dungeon crawler on the AppStore.
So far, Warhammer Quest hung once on my iPad 2 during one of the first few missions. I entered the next room, and the background changed to the encounter background that should show the number and types of enemies, but that never appeared. Force quit and restarting the app fixed it... Is your Wi-Fi connected to the internet?
I've been making use of icloud between my ipod and ipad, getting kind of concerned now with those reports of lost progress. It's so convenient though. Maybe I'll just stick to one device just to be safe. So the expansion has a new overworld map, new dungeon tiles (that's all of the visuals/art right?), new quests and new enemies... is that everything? Any new items or equipment? Are all of the enemies new or are they mixed in with some old ones?
I guess its just that in my last playthrough there were lots of situations where I wanted so bad to be the badass spellcaster who takes out the goblins with awesome cool spells but what continuously rolled for me were all defensive - and then when offensive finally rolled out, only 2 magic points could be used. Bummer. Thats when I thought, Im going back to my Grey Wizard - at least then I'd only have to contend with the randomness of magic points.
Each dungeon in the game (core and expansion) primarily houses a particular type of enemy, which you can see when you tap on it on the world map. In the core game there are two: Orcs and Goblins, and Critters. The expansion adds Skaven dungeons to that, but not every dungeon in that region is Skaven-based; there are still greenskin and critter-based ones as well.
One of the quest rewards in expansion area was a Marauder armor with +1 Toughness and +1 Pinning What in the world is "+1 Pinning"?
You see that it is one of the stats on your character sheet, just like Toughness, right? It affects the ability to pin enemy units and/or be pinned by them.
If a monster is standing next to your character at the beginning of your turn, you'll be "pinned" in place and unable to move. There's hidden roll made against your "Pinning" value to see whether or not you can free yourself: if you can, you'll be able to move freely that turn as normal. You can also pin monsters in place by standing next to them, but monsters can't escape from that, so the "Pinning" value isn't relevant there.
Question... i'm loving this game and am trying to really take my time with it. My 4 main starters are ~lvl 2-3 each, and i'm making a point to try and clear out each and every dungeon. Would it be advisable to purchase the other 3 characters now and level them up alongside the mains? Or should I complete the game/story with the 4 mains and perhaps start a new game with the 3 new characters for variety? How about the additional dungeon/creature pack as well? Purchase now or wait?
You can travel to and from the expansion area at will (it's the left-most part of the world map), and it scales with your level much as the core area does, so you can grab it straight away and play around there if you want. The addition of Skaven enemies helps add variety to the available dungeons, so if you get sick of spiders and goblins, you can go fight ratmen for a bit.
This actually makes hardcore mode a joke, especially when combined with the wizard skill "cure small wounds". I started my game on hardcore mode and just finished clearing the third town/area and so far I haven't come close to losing any characters. I hope the devs can add a mode which doesn't have the knockdown mechanic in a future update.
I can confirm expansion area is at least 50% higher gold gain overall anywhere. I used to struggle in Orc area to train heroes and losing money to random but expansion area i can actually get out on top and am actually earning gold fast
