One little touch that I love, not sure if it was possible on Hunters: Being able to tell one character to move and then starting the movement on another without having to wait for the first guy to finish his turn. It's things like this that make the game feel so fluid.

Same story with me too, but about 6 months back. X-Com is an amazing entry point for the genre.

So you're telling me that in order to get EXP, I have to go and EXPerience the game before I can afford it? ;)

I haven't actually played much yet, but regardless of IAP, the gameplay is just fantastic and if they devs get enough feedback, there's always a chance they can balance stuff like that out a little more.

My priorities are my moneys worth not iap crap where I have to buy to progress which this IS. No matter how many people are in denial about this the game is structured so you'll need iap. I experienced that immediately I went to the training grounds and had 90 gold taken away from me for killing not stopping a bull.

I know I stand out but I would rather be criticised and abused for telling the truth about this terrible iap in this game than lie and be loved. I don't care for peer pressure or sucking up to the crowd. I call it as I see it through my OWN mind and eyes and this is a rip off. Don't believe me find out for yourselves. I insist you don't listen to me. Use your own minds. It's not hard to work out that there are iap traps set for the naive and gullible and there ARE and I already lost $5.49 on this game and am not giving them more. What I'm upset about is I already paid a premium price and found out about the iap and I'm furious.

I'm going to buy this game but I won't be buying the additional characters, too pricey. Looks like a great game tho, I like this subject matter a lot more than the sci-fi theme of Hunters, for a video game at least. I only played a couple hours of Hunters 2 but I got my 99 cents worth, ready to move on to Warhammer.

Don't ask me to trust you and then sneeringly tell me not to buy it.

Fact is, when consumable IAP is included, the developer is going to have to really justify it to me, or someone else like yourself.

I would like to buy this as I enjoy XCOM. But XCOM isn't going to have IAPs.

If they are JUST there for the lazy, fine. Thanks for the assurance. But putting them in there in the first place gets my suspicions up and those of many other gamers. I suspect, however, that we are a dying breed...

Sadly you have go jurisdiction here. This is the Internet. Thankfully I at least don't "speak" in broken sentences and garbled gibberish like many people do.

And I stand by my comment that Appletini rocks hard.

If my rogueish sensibilities offend you so harshly, you could easily ignore me.

You level up with XP and gold. So? That's how the game has been designed. It makes you think about who you will level up when it's a shared pot you are drawing from. I've played other games that do this and it is nothing as horrible as you are saying. The process is clearly laid out and you know what is going to happen as you are doing it. Nothing was stolen from you.

My reply was meant to come across as much more humourous than it did... ;)

Why should I try? You've already made up your mind and have stated it clearly and loudly.

But for those who may be looking out of context, I explained why it is there. It's there to allow people who don't want to take the traditional road a way to speed things up. It is not required and I would be happier if it weren't there at all just so it wouldn't create issues like this.

But alas, It's there and it's not going anywhere. If you hate it this much without playing the game, but are not swayed by the positive comments and the detailed video showing how the game works and plays... I then don't see how it's possible to change your mind. Others have echoed my statement that the IAP isn't necessary. What more needs to be said?

I said I'm trying to like the game. But I was taken aback when I saw so much gold being taken AWAY from me in a quest. I thought that was structured to push iap in my face. But I respect your opinion. I'll try to find what you've found but so far its been a bad first experience but I'm open minded so I might eventually come to love this.

Damn you Internet and your constant inability to properly translate subtext!!!

(Translated from questionable attitude: sorry for not getting the joke, here's my even sadder attempt at some questionable humour)

Your previous posts do not paint you as an open minded person,I have to say.

Like I suggested, try playing the game to see how much gold you earn before complaining that it's spent.

Has anyone done the quests that take gold from you as a penalty or fine? I had 2 quests take 90 gold from me n a matter of 1 minute. That's what I'm on about. So if you but gold with real money you can lose it all in a quest you have no control over. You guys on the same page with me? Stop criticising me and please so us on the subject. You can buy money and a quest can take it away.

I think this logic is flawed. I can understand how it came about, looking at the terrible state of most IAP-riddled games, but it's definitely not set in stone. There are Playstation 3 games that have paid DLC which unlock all cars and tracks, but this doesn't mean the game has been designed around it. It's merely an option for people who want to skip ahead rather than play -normally-, and the same model has been implemented into iOS games plenty of times.

And I have to say this loud and clear:

The IAP does not gimp the game.

It DOES make it easier for people who want to put in the money. It's the equivalent of fake rolling the dice. It's capitalist cheating. It is also a way to show rodeo that you really like the game, because it is far from necessary. I truly truly truly believe that.

And if I ever get to a point where that opinion Changes, after all I've freakingh spent, you will all be the first to know. Anyone who has seen me post knows that I'm very vocal about that stuff.

Siiiigh. Kids these days don't want to work for anything. And once they have to or are offered a way out by paying , the game sucks or it's broken.

deja vu, just continue playing the game and see what happens instead of calling it a iap fest thats even worst than chillingo

you were the same with I, Gladiator and the iap stuff saying that there were paywalls all over the place when that game require skill on your part, well this one requiere you to applie more thinking on what things you should do

Then you don't know me do you? I stand by a view very strongly until I'm proven wrong then I'll change my stand. I'll take your advice and if I find what you say is accurate then I'll be happy not to have to buy more gold after having bought it.

What concerned me was having about 25% of my gold taken away from me from doing 2 quests. But I'll take your advice & give it a go.

... and there goes the first 3 hours of my life (and $19) with this game.

Saw the obvious bug in the dlc hero descriptions. Hit another bug where a battle hung on the transition screen (just quit & it started up the turn before the battle; went fine that time). Interface is too small on phone/touch, crossing my fingers they'll tweak that.

Otherwise, pretty spot on old school PnP war / board gaming, complete with random encounters that take your gold (and apparently cause a certain poster to suffer -10 IQ penalty) and gimp your warriors "just because".

Great game that is going to piss off a bunch of clueless gamers hilariously ;)
