Well I bought everything in the update and have this weird buyers remorse even though I love the game....
Just kind of asking myself why did I buy all of that. I love the game just havent played it much lately then I go and buy $12 IAP stuff. I understand the extra class but the other stuff maybe I could of done without. I dunno.
That same nagging feeling you have AFTER buying all of that is the same reason I have yet to buy ANY of the iap in this game.
Lol this happens to me, I bought the skaven pack at launch and then didn't get around to playing it until weeks later, Same thing I've done with space hulk, instantly bought the extra campaigns as soon as I opened the app, I still haven't even finished the missions that came with the base game yet Hi my name is OoOoOomonkey and I'm an addict.
Feh, you'll get over it once the witch hunter starts taking out some gobbos, then orcs, then finally working his way up the totem pole to his specialty. I haven't checked out any of the new enemies yet, I'm scared of taking my low level witch hunter on white quests with my higher level dudes. Do the white quests balance the difficulty based on the party that is taken in to the dungeon, or is it based on the entire party as a whole? I really hope it's the former...
So tried all the new content on both my old save with max level characters and a new save. My early impressions are that the monster packs are one of the best add-ons the game has seen. I haven't been playing much WQ recently, but this will easily be enough to warrant a clean play through. If this is the last content the game sees, they made a smart choice. First off, the new monsters DO scale. This means that simply wandering around the starting area has a lot more variety in quests and encounters now, all the way up until you have maxed out your heroes and are traveling south. It's really amazing how much more alive the game feels with a few more monster types sprinkled into existing areas. There are some reskinned tiles with the new set, although that should be unsurprising as there is only so much you can do with hallways. However, the new rooms I've seen have had some fairly major differences and they look great. Much more original feel than the lava tiles from Brutal Tribe. The Witch Hunter feels very unique. His items include a lot of expendables or limited use items like stakes and amulets, plus a rapier/pistol combo. Looking at rewards on the map, a lot of his loot seems to scale with his level (by this I mean the loot actually has the ability "power increases with level"). He also gradually builds up willpower, and the higher it is, the stronger he is. However, willpower is also the casting cost of his abilities, most of which are deadly versus undead. Thus, you have a constant balance between deciding when to use a particular ability and when to allow the WH to build-up his passive abilities. Overall, no buyers remorse here. I can see another save in the future with 100+ hours of play time on it. I will say, these add-ons do feel like you need to start from scratch to truly appreciate them, although I suppose if you just wanted the challenge for your decked out level 8 team it has something to offer.
The difficulty is based on the adventurers you bring into a particular dungeon. If you bring 4 level 1s into a white dungeon, the difficulty will scale to them, not the level 8s you left outside.
As i was slaying the vampire lords, it occurred to me that there might be no more WQ from Rodeo. Here are the evidences i've gathered: 1. Incomplete expansion. I dont know about other games, but from what I saw, Rodeo Games likes full value pack. A single hero and a few more enemies are just so little for that. And they had the wissenland under development. Cant help thinking what happened. 2. The GW mark on the icon. Could Rodeo be saying that the game is not theirs any more? GW is known to exercise tight control on their properties. Maybe they got into a fight over something. Pricing, expansion plans, etc? 3. Pocket Tactics said so. It's convenient, I know.
1. I don't know that I agree that these expansions add little. Arguably, each monster pack adds MORE than Brutal Tribe did as each adds a variety of monsters from two types, similar to BT adding Savage Orcs and Stone Trolls. However, the new monster packs add these monsters scaling from level 1 to 8, while BT only had monsters for the 6-8 range. 2. I noticed the GW icon too. I suspect this has more to do with GW pushing a lot of new games with their IP on the market. You have WQ and Space Hulk already out, but some new Space Wolves games was announced a while back plus I heard talk of something else released or going to be released not in the Warhammer worlds, but with a GW license. Likely GW is trying to create an online name for themselves in the mobile market. 3. Agreed. And really, the Rodeo Games team is two people or so isn't it? If they are starting development on a new game, I would guess that it would be hard to shift focus back and forth. At the least, I would think it would take a long time to come back to WQ.
So how is it balanced if I'm taking in [for example] a level 7 and three level twos? I'm just scared of running in to a dungeon in hardcore and then getting my lv seven grey wizard slaughtered because he was running with some wimps.
Unfortunately, I've never brought that large of a level discrepancy into a dungeon before. If you want a safer way to level up though, you can go to towns and reset the red quests which are set to a specific level and do/re-do those to at least gain a few levels on your weaker guys.
Unfortunately the game still no longer works on my phone, bit of a shame but seeing as I was one of those who thought the IAP was a touch too high for the extra characters I'm also a bit relieved to have I dodged that bullet. Very sad to hear this is likely the last update, and hope one day they include the Pit Fighter so I can play on another device someday. I'd really hope the guys are moving to bring back other GW franchises like Blood Bowl or even better Necromunda! Either way I wish the Rodeo guys all the best in future, thanks for a great game.
No problem! Once I have him at around level six or seven he'll start tramping around with the other big boys and I'll be ready to take on the undead. Once that happens I'll be sure to post some impressions, but so far I've enjoyed building up my Wulfgang Justice! It looks like there are a number of different Amulets for him to equip, each one having a 'once per dungeon' effect that increases with his level. He starts with one that heals, I've seen a direct ranged damage, and one that does a close burst of damage 'proportional to the level of the witchhunter'. They were all Blue items, so once again that slot space is at a premium. I wish I could equip Blues in the Orange slots so badly. He gets Sabres [which have a crit chance], Silver Daggers [extra damage vs undead] and Pistols[also have a crit chance]. There are also consumable Stakes and Holy Water that have strong effects against the undead, so I have a feeling that any time you are going up against them you'll want to have him in your party. I'm excited to check out the new tileset, if only for some different layouts.
Man, the zombies can be really tricky to deal with, especially when other priority monsters are on the map. Each zombie in melee range of a hero reduces that hero's stats. The bonuses the WH gets versus undead are huge. At level one I've seen Silver Bullets, a blue accessory that gives his range attacks +8 damage versus undead. Keep in mind that's at level one, when your happy to move from 1-3 damage items to 1-6 damage ones.
An emphatic YES! There is a ton of sweet sweet loot to be had in this game, enough that there is never a single 'best' build for any character, as everyone will get different skills at different levels, everyone will vary by playstyle, and of course it all depends on the sweet sweet loot that you collect! NO PAYWALLS, the only thing in this game that you'll pay for is extra content such as characters, regions, and now some new monsters are optional as well. You'll find a lot of people complaining about the cost of the additional content, but I've bought all of it and more than gotten my money's worth out of this game. Not to mention, compared to the physical product itself, this game is a steal of a deal! So, in summary, SUPPORT THE DEVS and shell out a few extra pennies to get hours more entertainment from Warhammer Quest!
