Took your advice and retired my char in hopes of getting better skills... Something odd.... Are the number of skills you get (and which levels you get them) randomized too? Or fixed? I swear my last shadow warrior could have gained up to 7 skills, but my new one can only get 6 skills.
According to Eurogamer there is new content coming for WHQ on Thursday. New monsters, tile set and a new hero http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-10-warhammer-quest-the-undead-horde-expansion-adds-a-new-hero "The skeletons and necromancers enemy pack costs £1.99 / $2.99. The zombies and vampires enemy pack costs £1.99 / $2.99, and the undead castle tileset costs £1.99 / $2.99. They're all out this Thursday." There are some photos there too
Wow, they're now charging separately for enemy packs and tilesets? That might be it for me. The hero pricing was ridiculous enough.
Can't wait to grab the new content wed night. I personally have no problem with the IAP because all of this would cost much more in physical form and I absolutely love this game. I hope we see another level cap bump somewhere not too far down the road.
I'm so glad that the iCloud saves work so flawlessly in this game as I've had to delete it for space a couple of times before but everytime I come back to it all my stuff is still there. Sounds like a cool update with plenty of new content. New tile sets and enemy's are always welcome. I've not bought any of the extra characters as I liked the starting ones, but who knows this new guy sounds cool.
My guess is they are trying to keep the game profitable so they can actually keep releasing content. The simple fact is, freemium with collectables is the way to go these days to rake in a profit with IOS games. With a game at the level of quality as WQ that has no weekly events, collectable cards/units, and 'special' currency, small expansion releases are probably the only way they can continue.
So looking at their Twitter, it seems like no new areas with this expansion, and the monsters will just be added to the monster/quest pool. This could make the base region viable again for farming at higher levels. It also begs the question on what is happening down south as there is definitely signs of expansion work in the Wissenland region. The way the monster groups are separated into Vampires + Zombies, and Necromancers + Skeletons, may mean they will each have their own quests they can be found in. I wouldn't be surprised if there are different types of each new creature, much like Brutal Tribe added Savage Orcs, which included shamans, warriors, and archers. Still hope we get some large, 4 tiles monsters in the near future.
Just saw this: http://www.pockettactics.com/news/ios-news/warhammer-quest-expansion-undead-horde-coming-thursday/ Sounds like this may be the last expansion for the game after all. It's too bad, but I'm not all that surprised either. Just doesn't seem to be good business these days to make an actual game rather than what feels like a slot machine to keep plugging money into non-stop trying to reach an elusive jackpot.
This is not good to read... I really hope he is just trying to sale his new product offering by saying it may be last. This is by far my favorite game on iOS and really hope it doesn't stop being expanded upon so soon
That is sad news but not much of a surprise to me with all the people in this thread complaining about the prices of the IAP.
Ok, so I gotta ask. How much is it currently to own everything for this game? Including the new stuff that is coming if we know how much it will be. Bonus points if you can list everything and their price out as well. Thanks!
Just read through the links, and the new content sounds promising. Definitely will get the Witchhunter, for the "burn the Heretic, slay the Witch" vibe alone And pricing? A joke, as sadly seen too often on iOS. 3/$? I spend more than that on breakfast each morning. Released like this, you have a choice what you want to get. Unlike if they'd release it as one big pack for, say, 10. Not to mention that the pricing is *far* more reasonable than the boardgame Warhammer stuff GW produces. Want to see some insane prices for cheap plastic models? Visit their website. And it carries a bit of boardgame feel; as in buying additional packs/boxes with models or tiles. Still hoping that we see another full expansion. But anyways, new project sounds good too. Rodeo has demonstrated that they can deliver a high-quality game; so I'm curious with what they come up next.
Base game: $4.99 2 expansions at $4.99 a piece 6 characters at $2.99 a piece 5 legendary weapons at $0.99 and now two new enemy types at $2.99 a piece, a new tile set $2.99, and one new character $2.99 Total cost $47 including the new content All prices in USD. This is cheap considering you can't even get a physical version of the base game for less than several hundered dollars.
Thanks! I'll probably get it all eventually, as I have the base game already. Still, I think they would make bank if they offered a pack with everything for $20-$30.
Eh, the thread could be nothing but complaining IF enough people are paying for the modular content. Most freemium threads are also just endless complaining about the "price". Majority of posters, unfortunately, are simply, um, frugal to an extreme That said, while I've so far purchased everything except the heroic weapons, and am probably going to wind up buying the new content is as well, I will say that, Games Workshop or not, this particular title has used these piecemeal expansions to exceed any sort of reasonable price point regardless of platform. Just the current content will set you back $33 (not counting the questionable choice of heroic weapons), and the coming content will be another $12. That's a brand new PC title right there and, as much as I like this game, I would have a hard time saying there's as much content or polish as the sort of PC games that get me to pull the purchase trigger at full price. While I can rationalize it as A) Games Workshop and B) cheaper than the physical product, I expect Rodeo has suffered, relatively speaking, from contractual obligations to get stuff out there while remaining constrained by the pricing model enforced by GW. I suspect Rodeo and GW both might have fared better with a $10 base game price and flat $5 expansions including all heroes and new locations while skipping on the gold and heroic weapon sales altogether. If this is the last expansion due to poorer than expected sales, it's not as simple as throwing sad faces at the amount of price complaining as, while much of it is dismissible, there are legitimate issues raised by the particular pricing and content sales model used for WHQ.
I wasn't saying that the price complainers were the only reason, just that it was a good indicator of the success and how well accepted the format was or lack there of.
