I ran through a TON of dungeons questing for HoS and never ran across it as a quest reward. On the last room of a red quest I finally got it as loot drop. Then I gave it to the dwarf and left the priest with profit. He'd only try to kill my chaos warrior aka marauder with it any ways!
Yes, the Hammer of Sigmar is very random. It dropped very early for me in my newest hardcore game (started after the update for the expansion). I actually got it in a white dungeon about 5 hours into the game (in the first 'world'). In my last hardcore game I logged in about 30 hours and never got it. But it is my favorite weapon, whoever carries it gets extra toughness and extra health, don't want to lose that bad boy.
Hardcore is the only way to play, permadeath adds a thick layer of tension that you just don't get in Adventurer mode.
Could it be that you can only get the Hammer in the Stirland region, as white quest reward? I really rushed through that one originally. Planning to redo some of my chars (namely Marauder, Gray, Ironbreaker), so I can revisit later and try it out. Which reminds me of my question from a few posts back: Are starting stats fixed or random? I plan to optimise the living hell out of them, see how much difference that makes to an already extremely tough and deadly party. Hardcore mode: *sigh* not enough time on my hands for this. With only an hour or two per day, losing all the equipment I have now would throw me back weeks if not months. When I asked this a while back, folks replied that the fights aren't harder than in Adventurer. So what is the big challenge? Do you get more ambushes? I only got close to a party wipeout once, and that was due to total carelessness (see my post about bringing underequipped Waywatcher and Trollslayer to the party). I seriously want to know, as currently it gets a bit unchallenging on Adventurer.
In response to hardcore, it's way more interesting... I played through on adventurer till the newest update and decided to try it . The ogre is a good tank for me but the damage of the wizard is ridiculous
I got my hammer in Averland. I think starting stats are fixed at least they were in the board game (max hp, same weapon skill, ect.). Permadeath is the only difference between adventure and hardcore.
Did you try the Bright and Gray together, for extra magey carnage fun? With full power stores (40+, 30+) they can massacre a final room in one round And thanks for the feedback on Hardcore, to both of you. Guess I'll stick to Adventurer a while longer, maybe try Hardcore with the next expansion. Got 60-something hours on the clock now, for me that is like a month of playing nothing else.
Interesting lore piece: Just had one of those "you cross a river..." random encounters. Only this time it was a blood river, and His Bloodiness himself apparently was so pleased with all the carnage and slaughter my folks do for having a good time, that my 4 active chars all got a Blessing of Khorne. One, extremly well-done, as it fits Khorne perfectly: he doesn't care much who does the killing, as long as it entertains him. Two, I cannot shake off the feeling that this might be a hint of things to come... Too bad I forgot to make a screenshot
Priest. With added advantage in that the other characters don't need to distract him so they can kill the prisoners.
So I haven't beat the in game dungens that are after the 9 missions yet should I beat these before brute tribe? These are really hard What you guys think?
Yeah warrior priest adding for 2.99. He is one of my mains, his jade ring is very helpful as are his boosts
I killed a few bosses with Occam's Razor but my grey wizard got no experience for it. Is this supposed to be the case, or is this a bug? Also, anyone else having problems with the sound effects? I get normal sound effects for everything except with meelee attacks, in which case they are incredibly soft or non-existent.
Just wanted to let anyone else with an iPhone 4 know that I haven't had any freezing or crashes since the update. Gone through about 4 dungeons.
Spoiler What color tiles? I don't remember seeing any. But the black quest is given by the underwriter when all red quest are finished
Sooooooooo should I beat the end game dungens for the main game or just go to brute tribe? The main end game dungens are so hard so Mabey I'm to weak for brute tribe?
I don't think spells count for kills in general. I've often found my casters show zero kills even after clearing rooms. I'm not sure if that was something from the original game or not.
If you find the dungeons too hard now, Brutal Tribe spawns will certainly clean the floor with you. I'd grind for some more loot and wait until you start to find the game too easy first.
