It's been on PC for a while now. It's not a bad game per say, but there isn't much to it right now. The campaign has I think 12 missions total, 3 more recently added, and the multiplayer is buggy and poorly laid out. Apparently Gamesworkshop have also denied the designers the right to use anything other than genestealers, so there really is only so much they can do with the game at this point. It may get better though. There is a level editor in the works, and one thing they are planning to do is add genestealer mutations, like being able to spit acid and stuff like that.
Space Hulk is out on PC/Mac about 8 weeks now. It was a little buggy on release but they have been very active in the community groups and have been getting patches out fairly quickly. They did just release a mini 3 mission campaign for free and soon(ish) there will be more (paid) DLC down the line plus a free mission editor. I will disagree with Kirenx(iirc) about the bit much to it at the moment. As it is a digital version of the 3rd ed board game, there are all the same 12 missions from the board game. Note it's currently 33% off on Steam for the next 31 hours. I paid 28 and thought it was worth it, 18.75 is a bargain Also the last patch added an option to speed the Space Marines to quell the whining that they moved to slowly (even though it's supposed to be accurate)
I tend not to sweat it with new characters. Whenever I see a chance to have them kill something, I take it. But I am not going out of my way to set chances up, e.g. by leaving monsters alive that I could take out that turn. As for Mages and melee: Don't think that is much different on Hardcore. If you are a bit careful - e.g. not wade right into the 5 Black Orcs - , they can melee as well. My Gray has 30+ HP by now, enough to survive a few hits.
Palace of Ice Anyone got any tips on this ? Its the final dungeon in the most recent expansion, that appears once you have completed the other 13 quests. The aggravating thing about it is that the first room you encounter has a room with a loose floor- your characters fall through and get the dreaded blinking "i" , even when only advancing one space per turn. I can't escape the the room with more than two characters, and even when they continue on, random wandering monsters pop up back around the guys who are Incapacitated, so you gotta go back and fight in that room again. Royal PITA - and this is on Casual mode !!
So i have a bug. Started a new run thru from scratch witn 3 of the new characters, 1 st area, got about 6 hrs in and now it will not let me buy anything in the markets tried all 3 saves, rebooted the program ( forced close) then tried rebooting device, and still, can not buy anything. Any help appreciated, at this point a $40 game is broke!
Is that is all the towns or only some? Certain towns have story elements that prevent you from using the services until you complete a linked quest. Generally it is something like, everybodies been kidnapped, etc. If its a problem with all towns, I would email Rodeo Games.
I only tried two towns in one save, but i have 3 saves and all 3 do the same, but the thanks for the tip
How do you use the quest item to train for free and what quest give it out? I have mine still and my grey wizard which I re rolled is nearly back to 8 now so I could use farming some of those! Also anyone remember which quest give the 2k gold reward? My final question is out of all IAP characters which would you buy? I have had the game since day 1 and always buy expansions but no characters yet, I am thinking of getting the shadow warrior.
I had a weird bug where I couldn't bring up my inventory, and was about to give up. But then I tried a hard reset on my 4s and that did the trick. It's worth a try, especially if the game was working fine before. (Mine was)
@Ste86uk: You get that item from the Underwriter in Averheim, 2nd of his quests. Did not use it yet, but I'd guess having it in the character's inventory is enough. IAP characters: I like the Shadow Warrior so far, will be one of my fixed characters I think; together with the Marauder and the Gray Wizard. I also bought that IAP Elven Sword for him, and it works really well. Just do not give him anything that increases Toughness, boost him up with +Wounds items instead. Someone here wrote that he can get a skill that negates the negative effect of added Toughness to his Weapon Skills, but I do not have it yet at level 7. And question about the Gray Wizard: At which level did you folks get the "Blades of Night" skill? Is that level 8 only? Did not see it so far at level 7.
Replaying over with 3 mages and the marauder. Beginning is surprisingly easy, with some fights ending in a hail of firepower before the marauder even gets a chance to move. I am bit nervous about random ambushes and the higher lv, more resilient orcs. Still, it's been fun so far, and if anyone has advice, I am all ears.
Sigh. So...after hundreds of hours...my dream team A was killed. Sigh...I'm soooooooooo sad. I was going to do the LAST Averland quest...when I saw a cool object on a white quest....so....why not? A little detour became a super long dungeon with a dead end and 3 ultra long corridors (the most deadly part of the game imho)...managed to get in the target room with everyone at full health....and here I was super dumb, sure I would get rid of those Orcs in no time. Was ambushed 3 times in a row with the 'death' combo: spiders that web and 4 shamans that cast both the spell that knock down instantly mages plus the one that do a ton of unavoidable damages. All where too distant to reach in 2 turns. In the end I lost the fight just because I forgot to open the inventary before getting in the room...and putting some scrolls on my chars (I had both free slots and the healing scrolls). Feeling ultra dumb I simply watched my beloved characters going down one by one. I'm super sad because, besides really nice skilltrees for everyone, I had super fancy items. I was particularly fond of my Marauder, with his black helm, black chainmail and black tower shield. Rest in peace. Despite the temporary rage, I'm loving this game and even if it hurts badly, I would never go back to adventurer mode. Hardcore is a much superior experience it's not even comparable...the tension it can sustain for such long periods is unparallelled. Back to square one!!!
hire new heroes, give them some rings and they'll level up in no time. but the gears, not gonna come back soon...
Heh, same here. Restarted quite a few games due to total party wipes. But still going back for more. Now grinding for loot and xp before attempting the next lv5 quest. My past experiences have left me quite...over cautious (read: cowardly).
