Hmm, so it's a bug that the "Unlocks at level x" text isn't showing at the new characters' skill list screens? Let me double check again.

Question for anyone who obtained the Shadow Sword (+3 STR, increase chance to hit with melee), is it bugged for anyone? My Shadow Warrior can equip it but gets NO melee attacks! The sword icon says I have 2 attacks but I can't use it.

Yeah I had that problem too. I guessed it was because there is no damage range listed for the weapon. How are you liking the SW, by the way? I got mine up to lvl 5 and he started to show some promise, then he got killed. Wasted two rings of greater sure striking on him.

One more thing: the shadow warrior's starting passive; encumberance or some such. It seems to me like there's not a lot of equipment available for him that is worth a damn because of this trait. It seems like a lot of the armor you can get for him has +toughness on it, rendering his already poor melee skill even worse. I have the shadow warrior the old college try and spent at least 5K gold on him and he still couldn't cut the mustard. Not impressed

There is "Unburdened " skill for SW that negates Encumbrance skill he has.My Shadow Warrior is level 6 and evades like crazy.Shadow Walker skill is also very useful at dodging attacks, heck I even use misdirection often when he attacks last with melee.Even now , two levels lower than my Waywatcher, SW shows more potential that WW and I still got mediocre equipment for him ( though Quivers of Shattering rock ! ).

I have just started replaying the game after downloading the update, and here are my observations about the 2 new characters I purchased (the ogre and fire mage).

Irongut Ogre - early on, he excels in mowing down hordes of weak foes. His ability, mighty swing, lets you hit up to 3 foes in a line. At lv2, it does 2-3 damage, enough to take down weaker foes like rats, spiders and bats. At lv3, it can do up to 6 or 7 damage, sufficient for goblins.

While he has only 1 attack, it does a lot of damage. So he is quite swingy in that sense. He either hits once for good damage (barring potions and spells), or misses for nothing.

Bright mage - good damage, decent healing spell. Never got into a position to use his area-fire spell.

I also find the game's difficulty a little wonky. Just reached 4th lv, did the Hills have Spiders quest, one seemingly easy battle turned into a total party wipe when new enemies began to enter the fray 4 times in succession (bringing with them tough foes like trolls and orc warriors). At first, I managed to get into a good rhythm of plugging the corridor with marauder and iron gut, while healing with grey wizard and bright mage, but still got overwhelmed when the game spawned enemies behind my mages. :(

This game is definitely tougher. Just died for the 3rd time (2 mage + 2 tank combi). Thinking of trying a 3 mage + 1 tank combination next.

Conclusion: Expensive but fun. But at least not to the extent like Dungeon Hunters which blatantly gouges you for every update.

You know thats the thing though, yes this game might be a bit expensive as far as price and all dlcs. But guess what, there is no adds, timers, potion cooldowns, or any other freemium non sense. I for one appreciate that, pay and we can play whenever we want! Love that about this game.

What does the "reset quests" button do?

Does it reset the quests for all 3 regions at once (If you have the 2 extra regions) or just he region you're in? Are there any downsides to pressing the button, like do you lose the special items that you found on the quests or anything like that?

I ask because I'm levelling up a new set of characters in Stirland, while I continue playing my level 7/ 8 characters in the new region, but using the same save, if that makes sense. I'd just like to reset the Stirland quests, but not the ones from the other 2 regions.

Apologies if this has been asked, I searched the thread but couldn't see it.

Resetting a quest only works on the specific quest you reset. It's not area wide. I'm doing similar to you and I've reset the quests several times with no ill effects.

I'd suggest completing the campaign first then getting Skaven and after completing that brute tribe an of course any characters you like the look of.

I do really need a use for gold on this game bar levelling it's no good to me as my characters are decked out and never die and I have half a million saved with nothin to use it on as quest rewards you sometimes find are better than anything you can buy and I don't need pots or scrolls ect....yes I am just on adventure with this one I like that as my main account and hardcore for when I'm in the mood. I enjoy working on a team and having them fully decked out ready for anything more than restarting often if I wipe.

My observations now at level 4 having started from scratch:

Ogre: At first I wasn’t crazy about his having only one attack, then I realized his multiple target attack never misses. Definitely holds his own now, and really works well with a caster or two throwing area of effect damage around, can wipe out hoards of even higher hit-point monsters fairly quick.

Shadow Warrior: The ability to attack again when she misses is obviously great. Overall though I haven’t found her to be all that interesting, she seems average in both melee and range, having less range attacks than the Waywatcher at the same level.

Bright Wizard: He seems best against high hit point targets, having solid debuffs and damage over time.

Overall difficulty of the game: Things are definitely harder. Monsters use abilities way more often and I find myself getting webbed by spiders regularly and vomited on by trolls nearly every encounter (which lowers toughness and stacks). I’ve stuck around the east mostly but dipped my toes into the western region briefly and found that stronger Skaven seemed to spawn during white quests at my characters level than the equivalent Orcs. With Orcs I still face mainly 9 hp Orc Boyz with a few shamans or bosses thrown in. With the Skaven I was against rooms full of 30 and 44 hp mobs.

I think the random encounters are a bit on the unfair side. Honestly. I got wiped without having a chance to stand against this. Everyone was lv. 5~6.[IMG]

Yeah, I’m not sure why the Skaven spawns seem to be so much harder than the Orc ones. I didn’t think my heroes would make it, but managed by bunching up in hallways and very slowly removing creatures. It was especially tricky as I had the Archmage with me whose ability to heal can be unreliable to say the least. You really have to stay in a box formation against the Skaven, they simply have too many attacks to separate and allow more to get in melee range.
