But it's pointless to retire character at lower level, he can still and probably will get most useful skills eventually at leveling up.Then again, randomization factor is usually a harsh mistress and gives you most of the time pointless or no skills at all.I got very lucky with Marauder and Grey Wizard skills ( at least that's what I think as those two can breeze trough most obstacles alone ).My dwarf is another story, he got poor skills first couple of levels, but on last two levels skills got significantly better ( Tunnel fighter and something else ). What I don't understand is why some skills are being doubled at level up , my grey wizard got healing mist spell at last Lv up ( same one as starting wizard just with different icon).
i want that sword! so how does this ignore weapon skill work? makes it easier to hit high level enemies?
I guess it's more useful if you're using spells that require low power (< 2 power). I only use night blade/occam's razor/heartbeat so -1sp won't affect me at all. No matter what Max night blade = 4x Max razor = 2x Max heartbeat = 1x Moreover my staff adds 1 toughness as well which is nice.
So it happened. After over 40 hours, Gunther GoldenBeard, my Ironbreaker, died trying to save his fellow comrades, surrounded by nasty Shamans and a Warlord, guarding a nice cape. He succedeed, may Sigmar give him beer and gold for the rest of his (after)life. Crom, Arendil and Gandalf will pray at temple for you. You will be missed Gunther. (you had shitty skills even at level 7 but we liked you) I *FREAKING* LOVE THIS GAME.
I suppose if you just want to spam razor, then at level 8 with good other gear you'll get two razors off, no matter if you use the +2 power or the -1 cost staff. However, for blade, the small staff seem superior: Let x be the power income before either staff. The fist column show the number you blades you can cast without touching your reserve using the +2 power staff, the second the number you can cast with the -1 cost staff. The value in () show how many energy you will have remaining. X Staff P+2 Staff C-1 8 2(2) 2(2) 9 2(3) 3(0) 10 3(0) 3(1) 11 3(1) 3(2) 12 3(2) 4(0) 13 3(3) 4(1) 14 4(0) 4(2) 15 4(1) 5(0) 16 4(2) 5(1) 17 4(3) 5(2) 18 5(0) 6(0) It's obvious to see who comes out on top. In addition, when tapping into your reserve, the C-1 staff is clearly the better staff to have equipped. And then there is the following consideration: If Shadow Dagger now does 5 damage to each target and you have, say 12 magic (before staff). The C-1 staff lets you cast 12 Shadow Daggers, but it's unrealistic to assume they'll all hit for the full 15. Let's use two of the 12 magic for a teleport to get into a good position. The remaining 10 daggers hit for roughly 150 damage (provided they all hit). Let say you waste a few shots because only two targets remain and also factor in a moderate miss rate. Realistically (this is just an estimate), you can get about 100 damage in this way. With the P+2 you get 14 magic, which is just enough for 2 razors, giving you about 70 damage at level 8. While razer certainly is a good (and time efficient) spell, the C-1 staff + Shadow Dagger seems to be an interesting option for the GW now.
that's some great math. what i love about the game is the different strategies from combinations of skills and items
The pricing on that game sucks. I just can't bring myself to pay that much for additional characters and a small campaign. Even if I did like the game at first. I mean, come on, the game is good, but how could I want to pay a total of 40€/50$ (About the price of a premium game on any gaming system) for an iPhone game that is pretty repetitive with all things considered ? I guess I'll just wait for a sale. Or not even bother :/
try earning salaries in asia and buying games from western developer that's what i'm doing _з」∠)_ yet i'd pay whatever rodeo games asks for. it's such a bargain already compared to buying the board game
Saying it's cheaper than the "real thing" is one of the worst reason for to give to convince someone to buy the IAPs, simply because a board game is a physical object. It will always work, it will always be available, and you can easily play it with friends. The moment my iPhone breaks, or if I ever switch to androïd, that "wonderful bargain" is dead. Finally, the problem is that I don't think it's worth it. It's way overpriced for what you're getting.
Might be. But for me it's worth the price. I play two or three PC games every year but since WQ I've totally abandoned laptop. But I agree with you that the pricing strategy is annoying, which rips everyone of their potential budget. I guess game workshop is to be blamed for that.
I think the problem is and people on both sides have acknowledged this, the strategy is putting some people off. I've even hesitated getting the expansion which I was amped for, largely due to it. The additional items they've put up for sale affect the expansion in no tangible way, yet the direction has been a little off putting, to the point I don't know if I can be bothered. So in reality they've lost a sale at this stage on something I was fully prepared to pay for. Not everyone is going to feel the same way, nor would I expect them to, but in all honesty this has gone from a must keep game on my device to one I'm thinking of chalking up to a "nice while it lasted" experience.
I agree with this, I've always felt the price point of extra characters is too high. A little lower and I would have bought every character, as it is I'll only ever buy the Pit Fighter should he be released. Unfortunately the addition of IAP equipment will probably become a trend as well, and regardless of whether you "need" it or not it's something I'm very dissapointed with.
I wholeheartedly agree with the IAP equipment being a bad idea. In my eyes the problem starts when what you pay for doesn't correspond to amount of work people have put into it. The characters each require a set of new skills, some new graphical effects for their abilities, new weapons, their descriptions and their models (also for equipment) and animations and maybe a new sound or two. I see that this requires some work and I can justify paying for it (even though I find their price a bit steep, but not outrageously exaggerated). The work required for the IAP items is essentially just designing the model. The base game has tons of models and costs 5$. Paying 1$ per items is just pay to win (or win more). The same goes for the in game gold purchases. You pay something that the developer didn't work for. The savings grace in this case is that it is absolutely not necessary to buy gold to make reasonable progress in the game and purchases have no impact on the end game in any way. The latter is not the case with the weapons. For a developer that claims to develop for core gamers and for the love of games, putting in these items is just a silly idea, imo. An other point is the lack of a new tile set for the new region. The Skaven expansion had a completely new tile set, while the dungeons in the new region are a mere palette swap from the original frosty dungeons (maybe with a cosmetic touch or two to make snow look more live lava). Of course the preview screenshot show pretty much the only room that is new (the one with the dragon statue and the blue troll as well as a savage orc). I'm a bit disappointed in that regard as well.
@1337 and birth I think you guys are right. Didn't realize how powerful shadow daggers have become and that alone justifies the -1sp staff. I think max power without a +2 staff is 16 so that means 16x5=80 damage on an adjacent character. That's insane!
the raise in level cap has made the level-based skills much more powerful i guess and some previously ignored skills like death song and ignore wound have saved my squad several times still i wish i hadn't lost marauders in my other two hardcore saves
This is possibly a foolish question but which settlement is the level one Skaven red quest? thanks in advance.
I believe IAP expansions are fine as with this game model not being freemium they only make money from this and characters to make new expansions or they wouldn't bother. Character prices I do feel are a little high I'd like to see them drop by £1 or do sales occasionally there's never been one yet! As for IAP weapons I don't care if people want them it's a way to make money for more content for me I'm happy as long as I can find gear just as good in game. As for skills I still think you should be able to chose, I don't think people would pick all the same as people have different tactics and play styles it's just annoying in my point of view as I only want 1 game and some of my characters are pretty useless and I feel like I'm missing out on some fun unless I start those characters fresh again....which I'm going to do as I don't see skills being changed. But it would be nice to have it as an option or to chose random if your hardcore. Also a skill reset button at an expensive gold price so it's not just used to swap skills constantly.
It seemed like just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill dungeon. They'd looted treasure in Averland, bashed Orcs in Stirland and made Skaven weep in Reikland but this one was different. Wave after wave of Skaven poured into the dank, cramped corridor. Despite being equipped with many healing items the adventurers found their health being gradually whittled away to uncomfortable levels. And then it happened. A particularly vicious Skaven attack and a rather unfortunate Ring of Jade incident in quick succession left three of our heroes downed. Only one remained standing. He did not fear. He knew he could heal one comrade who could in turn heal the next who could revive the last. He gave the healing potion to his fallen teammate. And nothing happened. And then he realised he had no further healing items. He fought on valiantly on his own for as long as he could until the inevitable happened and his corpse slumped lifeless to the cold, stone floor.
