Probably It going to happen because of the games workshop licence, and anyway its worth a lot more than it sells for, If you were even interested in the source material one little bit then you would probably already have bought this anyway.
... I have three kids as well... 18,16 & 14. All girls... I tend to be pretty thrifty myself, but when it comes to iOS games with developers putting months and months, countless hours of coding, effort and straight up love into a game (especially here with WQ), and then put it out there for a measily $5, or $19 for EVERYTHING, is beyond 'thrifty' buying. The fact that the board game and everything out there in physical form costs upwards of 5-10 times more than that makes it one hell of a deal already. They've said that people who wait for sales, or don't realize what an amazing price this is already are more likely than not not the audience they're creating these amazingly well done games for... So maybe it's just not for you. Or maybe we should all downplay what games are really worth and push the freemium model forward some more... Not seeing what games are really worth seems to be a developing personality trait here on TA and the whole mobile gaming world... So screw it, right?
I have 3 kids too. Seems to be a bit of a theme developing here. One of my big issues is finding the time to play games so I usually try to make sure a game will be worth it before downloading. I had been waiting for the update to see if there would be a price drop but you just changed my mind. Why hang on any longer for the sake of a few dollars? And judging by the fact that this game is so popular in this forum it must be worth it. So downloading now. Will be back with impressions
A rule of thumb I've stuck by is that a game should provide roughly 1 hr of entertainment per dollar. I grew up on console rpgs, so that is pretty much what it stemmed from. I personally see most iPhone games as a steal, especially those with a 'premium' price tag. I'm a software developer, too [not games], so part of me just wants to give developers money if they have made a good product. This game is OUTSTANDING, and anyone who is a fan of SRPGs should pick it up. I'm happy to pay full price for in-app content if it means that the devs might add more in the future. Another good thing to keep in mind is how protective of their brands Games Workshop is. They wouldn't allow something shoddy out the gate and let it tarnish their image.
Three kid brigade unite! 9, 6 and 5! Just had to drop the comment after reading all the replies and add my tally of crumb snatchers to the mix as well! This is definitely a game worth its asking price, and much like Xcom of several other "premium" priced games on the AppStore, you will get your money's worth from this!
2 and a half but I agree and eagerly anticipate the expansion and will continue to support rodeo and all devs that push premium models especially the caliber of WHQ...
7, 5, and 21 months Glad everybody likes it. This is definitely my type of game. I have their first Hunters game and love the gameplay. I'm still going to wait for a sale though. I have patience and other games to keep me busy until then.
Joining the 3 Kid Klub too - but with a spectacular 20, 20 and 12.. All with the same birthday! The first two were easy but the third took some serious aim! Oh and I'm good with whatever price too ;-)
Almost the same. 6,5 and 2 Still haven't hit the buy button yet. How is the game for short bursts of place ? As that's the only way I get to Play games these days.
Guys: this is not going to go on sale. Probably ever. Just buy it already! Do you like RPGs? Buy it. Do you like turn based stratetgy? Buy it! Are you into beards? Buy it! It's only 5$. You won't regret it. Also: I have kids too! 2 and 1. Yes, it's great for short bursts of gaming, some of the dungeons only take 10mins or so, though you'll want to play more. I've had this since launch and I'm still playing it. Probably sunk 30 hours into it by now
I tend to play it in short spaces of time myself. You can save and quit at any time and it is pretty easy to do a room or two in a dungeon and return to the game later to finish it off.
Lots of gaming parents here (me too!!!). As for people asking...the game (well, any Rodeo games) is perfectly suited for a gaming parent. You can play it for 5 hours in a row, or pick up it for just 30 minutes and complete a dungeon. In both cases, you will be satisfied...it's imho one of the strongest point of this particular game.
