The new expansion takes place in a Region called Averland. You will find here the same quest-system as in the main game and the skaven expansion: red story-quests and white random-quest. Averland is bigger than Stirland or Reikland, there are more settlements and more red quests. The red quests start at level 6 - so you can bring your high-level party directly into play. The white quests as always correlate with the level of your party, so they are great for leveling the new warriors. The new loot from the white quests is great. Many new legendary items for every warrior, not only for the new ones. Here is one example: The "Marching Helm" for the Ironbreaker: +15 wounds, +1 Strengh, +1 melee attacks. And I have only seen a small amount of the new loot. The new heroes are very cool. Of course they are somewhat similar to their class counterparts, but they bring new tactics on the board. The Shadow Warrior for example is able to shoot his bow, the he moves and strikes his melee attacks. And the Bright Wizard has powerful offensive spells like Fireball or Inferno. The Ogre is a real tank and for him I found the best loot so far. Since I only got to level 5 with the new characters I haven´t seen all the abilities they have in store. And about the difficulty: I played the beta in adventure difficulty and that was definitely no walk in the park. The new enemies strike hard and I got ambushed a lot. Don´t know how hardcore mode plays, but I think you can assume to say goodbuy to some of your beloved warriors... In my opinion the expansion is awesome. If one liked the main game and the Skaven expansion, this is a no-brainer. And the best thing: on the map is enough space for future expansions!
Don´t get me wrong, but will you ever contribute something useful to this thread. All you do is complaining about the pricing and that for months now. I don´t know about the exact pricing for the expansion and for the new warriors and if I do, I wasn´t allowed to talk about it. But I think it is a save bet, that the new characters will cost their price. Why should they give them away for free? That is not the it works. Pay for quality work are just let it be!
Are the new red quests more part of a larger story or are they essentially self contained like previous red quests? For example will completing a red quest in one town drive the story and open up a new red quest in another town?
I cannot say to much about the red quests, because I don't want to spoil anything. It's certainly more fun to check them out by yourself. What I can say is, that some of the red querst are definitly building up on each other - solve one and the next one will be activated. And there are more red quests as in the main game, so there is enough room for a storyline to unfold. I can't say it with absolut certainty, but I guess the new warriors will come as separate IAP. I really like the new enemies. But unfortunately I'm not allowed to go into details. Indeed they are a brutal tribe!
I'm unfortunately in the middle of moving with family from one house to another one so I'm superbusy, Vogelman already nailed everything down perfectly. I'm playing the new expansion too, and imho it's fantastic. I'm in a super hurry and I do not want to spoil anything (nor I'm allowed to do) but I can say this: for the first time in over 100 hours in Adventurer mode, I failed a dungeon. I hope they do not change anything about the pacing, because I'm finding the difficulty now just PERFECT. At last, enemies not only hit you, they hit you HARD. When ambushed in adventurer mode...you won't say 'Oh...2 more minutes to get in the next room'...you will scream in terror I didn't tried hardcore mode with my A team yet (plus I was discouraged by Rodeo, if I care about them...it's still a beta after all)...because I know it will end in tragedy. I really can't wait to play it in hardcore tough...it will be GLORIOUS. To everyone who loved the first two expansion, this 'Brutal one' (literally) is a no brainer.
I’m really glad to hear the difficulty seems to have improved. One of my saves had my entire inventory full of orange expendables as I simply never needed to use them. I’ll be starting from scratch with this expansion for sure to get the most out of it.
It's a high level expansion, in every sense. I'm using my old adventurer party to help Rodeo testing the new quests. I tried the new characters too, they are alla very interesting and different, but I didn't have the time to level them up fast now so I just used my old characters. I'll save my real game (the hardcore dream team) for the final version...but I must confess that everytime I launch the beta...I'm soooooooooo tempted to use them, because I'm loving what I see and I want experience it with my real dream team and with the tension of the hardcore mode. Plus, I want THAT LOOT So yeah, despite I'm lucky enough to already play it (but beware that beta testing is not always fun as it seems if you want to help) I too can't wait for the final version...just to cry over my dream team dead bodies At least they will have super cool armours and items
There's an issue in the game at the moment that means only the first +power item you equip is being recognised. The items are meant to stack, and they increase your power roll each turn by the amount specified. It's fixed in the update we're preparing
Thanks that's exactly what I wanted to hear, more storyline will be an excellent addition to an already great game. Now all I want is a Pit Fighter character!
Great to hear from a dev in this thread! Maybe you can answer me this: when the power roll is a "0" and an ambush occurs, why I am not able to use at least the power from my magical items? Or is it only possible this extra power when the power roll is 1 or higher?
Will the next update give us the ability to use a button to access the inventory in landscape mode, so those of us with an iPad case with stand will be able to comfortable play this amazing game? It's very annoying to have to turn the iPad around constantly when you have a case like this:
Dang it!! I find it incredible annoying and bad design not to give us the option at least. On an iPhone it's a neat design as it is, even with an iPad if you play holding it in your hands, but a large number of people, in fact every one I know with an iPad, uses a similar case as mine, as it's far more convenient in almost every case. It's not as is they aren't aware of this, in the first few pages of this very thread it was put forward multiple times by several posters on TA. I'm pretty disappointed, I must say...
While the tilt to access inventory doesn't bother me on Iphone, I could see how it could be annoying on an Ipad. Probably would be a worthwhile option to consider. I would think a button in the menu would be pretty unobtrusive to the rest of the UI.
