So, in your opinion, programmers are obligated to work for free, no pay, when working months on additional content to a game that already have hours and hours of content?

I'm assuming you're not old enough to have a job yet, since no one I have ever known would work for free months on end, all the while trying to provide for their families.

We paid a fair price for a game that have given me personally +100 hours of game time, and like most games in both the console and PC market, they charge extra for additional content.

    I believe that's fair.

Why should it be different in mobile gaming?

Lol good luck with that, And Have a nice warhammer free life most likely.
This is worth every penny of the price plus all extra content.
With it being the game workshop licence I wouldn't be surprised if this never went on sale.

The base game is $5 for about 10-12 hours of play for a single run-through (just doing the bare minimum of quests to reach the final mission). The Skaven expansion adds yet another 10-12 hours of play for $5. That's $10 for a minimum of 20-24 hours of gameplay (or in my case $19 for everything and 125+ hours of gaming so far). Man, I remember paying $60-70 for games I played less than that and were far lower quality. I find it really hard to understand the strange sense of entitlement some people have that makes them believe they should not have to spend a few extra dollars for quality development and content.

Well said. Anyone that works for a living should appreciate the fact that developers need to be paid. Haven't bought this game yet but that is entirely down to lack of time to play it due to having small kids and a backlog of premium games waiting to be played but I will get it one if these days :)

If I buy this game without the expansion then get the expansion after I beat the game, will the expansion be under levelled?

The set red quest line will be, which, like the base game is one or more quest per town. But the white quests that are always available scale to your level, and the final black quest will also be fine.

So is it even worth to buy the dlc to play after the story?

The guys from RodeoGames are asking on Twitter, which warriors we want to see in the future:

"@RodeoGames Happy Sunday! The three new WQ heroes have now been announced for their release in September! Thoughts? Which would you like to see next?"

All of you who have a Twitter-account should go over there and tell them what heroes you want to see!

Absolutely. I actually start a new game for each play through. I will play one team through the original, then start a new game and play it through the skaven, normally doing a little back and forth between regions. The thing to remember, and it has been said a million times in this thread, is this isn't a traditional rpg. It is a boardgame with rpg elements. So just as you wouldn't play one game of monopoly, and say "well I got boardwalk and park place, I'm done. Never need to play that again", WHQ is meant to be played many times. At least in my opinion.

I have the pleasure to beta test the expansion. What do you want to know?

This is the real million dollar question.

I've been playing video games a long time. At no point in decades of gaming was free *content* commonplace, never mind the rule of how the industry worked. First it was mostly expansion packs for 2/3rds the cost of the base game, then we got DLC packs that, if you bought them as they were released instead of waiting on a "Gold/GOTY" re-release, could add up to nearly as much, if not more, than the base game's cost. At best you might get an extra dungeon or two in a popular RPG or an official map pack for a popular FPS, but that was an exception to how most games were supported.

Then by some twisted chain of events, we arrived here in mobile gaming land where someone will release a fully realized game they worked on in their spare time for months for a whole $1 and the responses will amount to, "Fun game, now just add in three times as many levels, multiplayer, iCloud, a DNA sequencer, and a food processor for FREE! and you'll be off to a good start"

It sucks that it happens so much. I guess it's the nature of the iOS platform and the various tools that populate it. They can't wrap their small mind around the fact that the digital software they downloaded cost someone else a lot of time and money and was not made with magic.

I suppose this could be related to the serious inconsistency in pricing on the app store. Of course that inconsistency is related to the competitiveness with dev's trying to get their app in as many peoples hands as possible.

Sorry that was totally off topic. Warhammer Quest! Yeah!

It's not that off topic. Wait until the expansion is released and we get a whole new wave of posts about how these developers are a bunch of greedy turdmunchers for having the gall to charge more than the cost of game for some new tilesets and character models. You know it's coming :)

Anyhow, to be even more on topic, Rodeo updated their FB today and it sounds like they're about to submit.

Can you ask them how power works? Specifically how items that add power work.

I've not been involved with beta testing at all, but I'd expect they'll do as they did with the initial expansion and character pack, where they charged for the expansion pack and each character individually.

I was just wondering how the new expansion was in terms of the new loot and quests. Does the loot seem new and different? Are the quests harder or about the same difficulty as before? Do the new characters feel unique and have cool new abilities?

Speaking of the difficulty, I was initially thinking that the update should tweak things to increase the difficulty. But I just lost my best party (all level 4, hardcore difficulty) on a quest and I'm thinking that maybe it doesn't need to be tweaked at all ;-)
