Part of my tactic is for any of my party to get knocked down and use my wizard to heal 1hp every turn. Looks like I won't be able to use that for Reikland.
Whoa!!! Yesterday night I took a white quest just because with my dream team. Absolutely normal 'Save the Blacksmith' white quest in the Stirland. All of a sudden, 3 out of 4 characters were knocked down the same turn due to extreme favorable enemies rolls (alla Orc Warbosses...the ones with 4 attacks). I started sweating and panic made its way around me. Fortunately, by pure chance, I had my Wizard still standing equipped with 3 Orbs of Power (THREE!!!).....so I used all of them and casted 'Hearthbeat' on everyone, saving them and completing the dungeon. I really need some other game to prevent me killing everyone before the expansion. I LOVE this game.
And the next warrior is: the Ogre! From the RodeoGames Facebook page: It's Friday afternoon. Time for another hero reveal then... "Of all the Ogres, Ironguts have the highest status and therefore the best weapons and armour of any given tribe. They go into battle armed with enormous clubs, scimitars and sometimes even rocks crudely bolted onto trees. Extremely tough and strong, very few enemies can withstand a full-blooded Irongut charge." Hope you all enjoy playing our Ogre as much as we've enjoyed making him. He's a proper brute!!
Yeah, this is like a big, heavy, ugly guy! He looks, like he is in the kick-ass-business. I am looking forward to smash some faces with him. I already have a name for my Ogre, I will call him Bud Spencer!
They said september. But it think in RodeoGames-time we should expect the update to hit the AppStore in october.
I don't know...probably there are 3 new characters...two already unveiled...maybe we could see the expansion sooner than later...who knows (just hope). I think it's safe to assume the next one will be a spell caster character, having been ranged and melee already covered.
My level 5 grey wizard died I revived him with a bandage, but then I KOd him with a backfiring herblore... My dwarf also had a bandage so I revived him again... OK I thought.. That was close! End turn.. Damn you ring of Jade......
Damn that sucks. I only use herblore when I need to revive a team mate, using it to heal is very risky especially when the target's hp is low.
I was just THIS close to lose my most favored character, Crom the North Marauder, to get Thorin the Ironbreaker a nice runic plate armour in a normal white quest. I know it's not efficient, but I can't help but use the tower shield (with its -3 penalty, even if it clash a bit with the description) and the berserker black sword...why? Because they are damn graphically cool....I love the shield and its texture, expecially when you are fighting with a direct lighsource...and I love longswords (can't find a legendary LONGsword for the life of me), plus I love the black indented sword. So I hope...no...I prey and beg Rodeo Games....please put TONS of cool shields (tower, rounded, but all with their own cool textures) and longswords in the expansion before I kill the poor Crom and his fellow comrades....
Alright I've just finished the last red quest of Skaven. It was more exhausting than I've thought, with so many alternate paths I ended up taking all but one of them. Was expecting the reward to be good but turns out I already have the weapon (Masterwork Warhammer). Haven't bought any of the IAP characters so I'm using the original 4 for the black quest now. Hopefully I will be able to get through it.
Be sure to be fully prepared So...I recall if I'm not mistaken you found the game not that engaging in adventurer...how do you like the game on hardcore now? (I'm curious).
It's awesome! The risk of dying meant I had to be more careful and plan more on how to move and position my team, which enemies to attack first, things I never cared about until I played the game in hardcore. Just finished the Skaven black quest as well, to be honest it was a little underwhelming because it was pretty short (compared to the last Skaven red quest) and I wasn't troubled at all. Didn't use any items, maybe I was just lucky? In any case this is the best game I've played this year, can't wait to try the new characters and expansions(?)!
IMHO the Stirland black quest is generally more risky because you can be easily be overwhelmed by those black orcs packs...but in the Skaven one, if you are ambushed by 3 Warlords and two distant shamans with lucky power rolls...you are in trouble (pinned by over 100 HP enemies who can damage you plus multiple scorch spells in the same turn). If your Marauder goes in uncontrolled rage and shamans aim to your healer/ranged characters, you are in SERIOUS troubles. One time I did the Stirland black quest almost untouched...never been ambushed too. Other times I went down multiple times (and was lucky...because having just THAT turn to heal the fallen characters...if you miscalculated wind power and inventory...they are gone. Forever). At the end...it is a boardgame ruled by dice rolls. And I love it for this...you really never can consider your party 'safe'.
Is there an actual story that you follow along in this game, or is it set up like Hunters where you just do random bounty missions?
There are a lot of random bounty style quests as well as a set number of pre-determined quests that occasionally have more than one part to them. For each territory on the map, the pre-determined quests come together once completed to lead into a connected final mission that can be repeated. These missions do conclude a story arc, the Skaven one more so than the Orc one.
=o/ Last night was not a good night for my team. I lost 3 out of 4 of my level 6 characters in two turns. Was so upsetting... But I'm out for revenge now. I've spent most of my free time today reading through Warhammer sites, digging up the lore, backgrounds for enemies (I've tried on my phone, but it just winds up giving me a headache as the font is a tad too small for me to read in long bursts), rules, and everything else I can dive in to. I don't think I've gone this far into a game world in a long... long time. Well... no... I take that back... Dead Space had me for a while. Got into the comics, have both the movies, ect... but before that, it was Metroid... and... well... there's not a whole lot to be found there (at least there wasn't when I was younger). Anyway - I'm beyond hooked. Again, thank you guys for pushing Hardcore Mode so much. The intensity is crazy... I usually wind up yelling at my phone and freaking out before just barely making it through another quest, then looking back and wondering how the hell I made it out alive. I actually feel invested in it... which is something I don't think I would have ever felt if I kept playing on Adventurer. Yeah... that's all... Op... would ya look at that - I forgot to do the dishes, laundry and make the kids lunch... =oO
I ran the Skaven black quest today and had my Marauder died twice in it. Thankfully he wasn't poisoned (I always make sure to remove as many enemies with weeping blade/granadiers in the first few moves) so I was able to revive him pretty quickly without stat loss(?). Bought the other IAP characters too but I'm not sure how to level them up now that I've finished all the red quests. It's kinda hard to do white quests with them alongside three level 6 characters because the enemies are scaled up in difficulty.
