That is a great answer! Thanks! How about choosing between 1) Mantle of Illusions: Significantly decreased chance to be hit with a melee weapon + Chance to Ignore Blow vs 2) Robes of Grey College: Power+1
Depends on your play style and spells. If you use your Gray Wizards with a sword and do not have high power spells (like heartbeat) I would pick the first and save the second one for later, when you'll have rings that grants the same powers.
Just completed the first (Stirland) Black Dungeon on hardcore (again, but it was a long time ago). I would say white quests are more difficult on level 6 due to ambushes, but I forgot how awesome it was that dungeon, with many unique events and choices to make. If the original game black dungeons are the starting base for the upcoming expansion...well... I've still both my main games, after having deleted all the beta and the 'temporary' ones (about 35 hours in adventurer and about 29 hours in hardcore..last black dungeon yet to do) but I've decided to play the expansion on hardcore out of the bat. I'm already anticipating the tension of not knowing which kind of enemies and threat I'll face (now, to be honest, as soon as I see the first enemies recap screen, I already have my strategy planned knowing which is the greater threat). BTW...I recall many mad at Rodeo initially for having async multiplayer out. After seeing what happened in Space Hulk, I think, as I speculated long ago, they did the right choice. These are not games you play in async with random people...
Yeah the game made that choice for me - just had all my characters died in a dungeon. All were level 5/6 too. Not sure what to do now.
Ive noticed a lot of questions regarding various different elements of the game such as effects on your character. If you tap and hold on most things such as status effects it will tell you what it means. Just a little FYI. Also the journal answers a lot of questions too. And don't forget you can see what levels your character will receive new skills by going to your inventory and selecting one of the 3 buttons on the top right of the screen. (Can't remember which one)
Eh There is only one right thing to do!!! Recruit 4 new heroes, pretend they found the previous party diary, and quest onward!!! (As for levels and loot...some white quests will do ) You will now experiment different chars and skill trees! Plus....you still have about 1 month to complete the game before the expansion
Most of my Hero Quest days were with people I had never met. I would totally play this with some one randomly over asynch. Even more so if people got to be the DM spot over asynch as well.
Maybe I expressed myself wrong. This game has interconnected turns (you can move 2 spots one char, then another one, then again the first....)....playing async with random people will inevitably make games incredibly slow if even completable BAR some games where you are playing with someone who is actually willing to play/compatible timelines....not your average iOS user unfortunately. (This is happening right now with Space Hulk on PC). I'm obviously all for a multiplayer version!!! But it's really different than playing with (even random) people around the same table at the same time.
Yeah, I really don't see too much fun in playing co-op with random people. Especially in the later stages with monsters like Skaven, you can burn through turns missing hard to hit creatures. Imagine clearing a single room that takes 20+ turns in async, it could take weeks.
Sigh...just completed again the last (Skaven) black dungeon on hardcore with my dream team. I'm freaking ready for the expansion Still looking for the Hammer of Sigmar...and trying to have Gamecenter registering the achivements...for some reason...every now and then I 'unlock' something when I load the game on iPad (but I still miss the 'complete all red Sirland quests for some reason). So awesome.
The initial four. I'm emotionally attached to them for historical reason Not a fan of the other classes but I could use them more while waiting for the expansion. Crom, Marauder (mace and shield, helm and chainmail, tought I would love a cool long sword) Arendil Greanleaf, Waywatcher (bow and long sword) Thorin Oakshield, Ironbreaker (warhammer and shield, full platemail) Gandalf The Gray, Gray Wizard (Shadow staff and long sword) Notable skill/spells: Reaction strike, Okkam Razors, Heartbeat. Aimed for high toughness and force. If you are wondering why not the best weapons for melee (masterwork hammer) it is because I only picked up weapons from dungeon loot, I somewhat hate the fact you can buy legendary weapons in shops (with the only exception of special blacksmiths). BTW, they are the character we (me and friends) used when playing the boardgame. I used Crom mostly. I LOVE them And you, who is in your party?
This! I totally agree. That is maybe the one bad game design decision, the guys from RodeoGames made. It's pretty strange that you can buy the rarest and best weapons in every settlement. I must admit, that I bought some orange stuff nevertheless, but that is mainly because I needed some space in the blue line. I my team are all seven warriors: Dude - Marauder (Hammer of Sigmar, Tarnished Hauberk & Helm) Donny - Waywatcher (Masterwork Elven Sword, Bow of Asrai, Oaken Amulet, Oaken Armour) Walter - Ironbreaker (Masterwork Warhammer, Champions Runic Armour, Helm of Grudge) Smokey - Grey Wizard (Bronze Sigil Sword, Staff of Power, Mantle of Illusions, Vestment of Shadowhood) Karl Hungus - Trollslayer (Rune Axe of Grugni, Bracers of Defiance) Uli Kunkel - Warrior Priest (Hammer of Ensorcelled Iron, Blessed Plate, Band of Magnus) Jackie Treehorn - Archmage (Blade of Leaping Gold, Sun Staff of Hoeth, Shimmering Robes) My Grey Wizard uses Okkams Mindrazors, Blade of Night, Veil of Revival and Voidmaster. He is probably the most powerfull character in my crew. Saved the lives of his comrads more than once. I am as well absolutly ready for the expansion. I definitly want to play the new warriors! I want to find new stuff! And I want to see new settlements, enemys and dungeons! Bring it on!
DAMN....now I want to max out the other 3 characters... I forgot about blade of night, I use that too a lot. I do not have void master nor revival in this build tough. As for the legendary items....know that I endured maybe more than 20 dungeon with 1, ONE, free slot on my stash (blue all taken). I discarded maybe more than 20k gold in value there alone. Actually, it's a limitation that I like a lot...force you to tough choices...you are always giving up something cool.
Yeah, I really think you should give the other characters a little love, they are not so bad! ;-) I really like the Archmage. He has very powerfull offensive spells and with Apotheosis he is able to heal the entire group at once. As for the expansion, I hope, that there will be more orange items as quest rewards or to find in the dungeons. The coolest thing would be a whole new category of items, maybe something like black heroic items. But that will probably remain just a dream for now...
A weird thing I noticed long ago but never bothered to search infos about being more a melee type than a wizard type (always used a Marauder or a Bretonnian Knight). I have in my stash a Chalice of something (grey one), usable only by Wizards...it gives you power and other pluses...AND a +1 ranged attack. To a Grey Wizard? How? I can't equip anything ranged on my Wizard. ???
