I feel the same way. I loved WH1 and Deathwatch, and was psyched to spend a huge amount of time (and buy all the DLC) on this game, but it isn't pulling me in. There's none of that "just one more dungeon" feel, instead it's "Well that dungeon was pretty repetitive, I hope this becomes more fun soon and my characters get more interesting to play." Both WH1 and DW had way more interesting combat/abilities (so far). The UI is also pretty clunky.
@Nullzone Two things to clarify in your above post. # 1. Just to confirm that you do indeed get the dlc characters straight away after purchase. You can see them when you start a mission and you get the character select screen before entering. Just tap on one of the existing characters to see all available characters. No need to start a new game or anything guys, though Quoad seems to have suffered a glitch with this. ☹️ 2. The Sell button in the market only shows unequipped items. Everything equipped on your characters is only visable in the character inventory screen. #
I certainly don't disagree with you. Breaks my heart to say it, considering I, like you, praised WHQ1 all over various forums, but without genuine redesign of certain choices I'd never recommend this game.
@Baldrekr: You’ll get new stuff soon enough, don’t worry. I’m only like 3 missions in on my new playthrough, and already rekitted my 4 heroes with some better stuff (and I went for a specific setup that cost me a good bit to get it going; had I stuck to the basic feel/layout of my heroes, I could have afforded more improvements and even a few levels instead). That they have no innates is on purpose. The plus side is that with this system your heroes are a lot more versatile than with fixed class skills, even if the startup time is a little longer. But yes, you’re right: Especially early on you need to manage scarce gold, and have to choose between equipment, heroes, and levelups. Levelups are a reward of their own, and IMO pretty well balanced against buying new stuff instead. E.g. getting another AP is quite an improvement. Some hints till I get around to write a real guide, just pasting my notes: - focusing on ranged damage makes early game A LOT easier - try to get good equipment from Easy/Medium sidequests. Save (very) hard ones till ~level 5 if you want to play it safe. - if no sidequest has good stuff, you can enter one and immediately retreat: this will cancel it, and a new one pops up in its stead. - you’re in no hurry: you can wait a few turns before entering a new room to cooldown Bandages, saves on the Healing Potions. Same for skills. - get 3x Bandages & 3x Healing Potions early on - Captain with Griffon Shield makes a great early tank - Captain’s Bomb is nice early AoE - Give the Gladeguard’s Shortsword to Captain or Bloodknight. - Try to get another Shortsword asap - Replace Maces with Hammers asap - Gladeguard: get the 2AP Shortbow if you can find it - Mage & Slayer: get them 2AP weapons or Weaponsmaster for -1AP/attack - Bloodknight is good as he comes for early game - if you can find Charged Shot, it’s great for a ranged attacker (I gave it to my Sorceress) - Try to always carry at least 2 damage types on each hero. Exception: Ranged Gladeguard (pierce), ranged Captain (blunt) - keep some unused heroes around to eat ambushes where you aren’t sure you can / won’t be able to win (e.g. against Trolls early on): enter, and leave immediately. If a benchwarmer takes an injury, who cares? - Spear Beastmen are very dangerous even later: they attack from 2 range, 7 damage most of the time, and can crit. - Anything with a torch/fire damage is top priority for a facefull of murder with extreme prejudice. And with that, I’m off to bed. Seeyall tomorrow
Dont worry, they know that. Ive sent this criticism/suggestion (and walls of text of others, of course) several times along with being able to do the same with characters (my main complaint about UI,everything else Ive read here doesnt bother me at all). Im pretty sure they noted it down, as they read every single post here and elsewhere.
Anyone wanna let me know why this game is getting 3 stars without having to read through all the comments (stuck at work) as it looks fun but 3 stars is iffy for me
Wish huge games like this would do incremental updates. Its a pain in the ass to download the entire app again each time. The Talos Principle does incremental and its such a beautiful thing.
Mostly as it crashes for some people thats all. Read the reviews of the game on websites, very high marks. Theyve already released an update and theyll obviously do more to fix it. Im on ios11 and it works fine for me on my iPhone 7
Point taken Yes, I meant sex-locked. Its kind of a shame as it would have been nice to have some alternate character portraits and models. Kind of bothers me that my company is full of clones
For Pitta and Nullzone / testers First. iPhone 7+ and iPad Pro 9.7. Both iOS 11. No crashes. Ok. So the game is great. Got the add on characters and campaign. Loving how much faster and fluid this is. But I had a couple questions about if any of the following was talked about being tweaked soon: Deathblow really should be called something else because it isnt even close to the old mechanic. I even miss and then deathblow sometime. Lol. Fire and disease both auto hit no matter what. They always occur. There doesnt seem to and RNG to it. Doesnt seem to have a chance to leave faster either. Seems odd that you can miss with a swing and still last the dude on fire. The one I cant believe is that if you are not VERY careful around the fire or disease clouds, the path finding will walk you right into it and you get automatically set on fire or diseased. There is no animation or status sumbol for a downed character. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. At least put a red X above them or something so you can see who is down and needs healing. Someone already mentioned merchant screen and not being able to see episode of owned gear. Who thought that was cool??? I would actually rather turn it to portrait mode. Lol. Is there any penalty for waiting around in a dungeon? I hated how badly random the surprise dungeon spawns could be and how crazy stacked up they could get... but the impetus to keep moving was always a good way to set the tention high. The sound doesnt sync up when you hit then miss. It just all sounds like on or another. I like the new card system for skills. But man, could use a rule set somewhere. Lotsa changes without a ton of explaining. Minor gripe. The stereo sound (which is just iPad Pro at the moment, but soon the new iPhone too) is not balanced correctly at all. These are comments. The game is great. The merchant ui sucks total crap and the pathfinding into fire and auto fire setting is just over the top. I love the new systems, but do think that a little of the RNG should be there still. Like a chance to catch fire. Seriously. Amazing game.
Patch worked for me so far All good for me since the patch. iPad Pro latest os. Thanks perchang. Sorry others are still having issues.
All these low star reviews are laughable OMG, I downloaded the game and it crashes on my jailbroken first gen iPad running iOS 4.2. This game the SuX!!!!!111111(one)(one)(one) These are the same people complaining they cant play Destiny 2 on their PS1 #ignoreBSreviews #GOTY #updateyourios
Really hate seeing the low reviews. Hope sales dont suffer too bad as Id like to see more development of the game. Has ran fine for me on iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6s+ on iOS 11.0.3 so far. Bought the Slayer and Mage without problems. Have ran several quests. Hope fixes are quick for those having problems.
Update fixed nothing for me either. Iphone 6+ and 10.3.2. I will probably refund if they can't get it running on ios 10. I just am not ready for 11 lol, and I have plenty other games to play.
I might do the same soon. I spent a small fortune as well on everything and there's no way I'm shifting to iOS 11 at this stage or in the near future. It's unplayable as far as I'm concerned right now.
