As I said, I dont min/max Sometimes I didnt even properly the description. He has a mace because I liked the look of it and dont want another hammer. Actually I prefer all equipped with normal swords. (Weirdly short swords seems to me better than long swords stat wise, and I still equip long swords because I like them more on screen). Im pretty sure they could cruise the game unscathed with different load outs , but I probably wouldnt like he game because for me it would be too boring. In my career of D&D player I learnt there are two different kind of people. Provided the DM gives them the them the same sword you can say 1) This is a +5 sword, +10 against trolls and if used with a yellow dress it provides +10 charisma but only on full moon days. 2) This seems a magic sword, it has a troll head engraved in the hilt and a full moon on the blade. Go figure out what it does. Ive always been in the 2) camp
I am definitely in camp #2 as well, most of the time. Slightly different, but funny: one of my LARP chars had Jade chopsticks to detect poisoned food, who needs combat applications for magic items Make that camp #3: Do interesting stuff with your magic items, not just another sword that hits better. That said, with games like WHQ2 (or Wavelight's stuff, or Planar Conquest) I really enjoy figuring out those broken combos. And yes, also with stuff that totally breaks the game, cause the engine allows it (just look at my PQ guides for proof). Plus, a lot of this comes naturally to me, so picking e.g. the Hammer of the Mace is no-brainer for me. Unlike you, I would never run with the Longswords, simply because the Shortsword is so obviously superior. But to each their own, there's no badwrongfun™ As for camp #3, I'm going to experiment a bit with the Bloodknights, see if I can find any interesting synergies. Most important rule: absolutely no Knuckledusters this time
Yeah I actually feel stupid myself when I equip them. But....they are way cooler on screen!!! Short sword animation is like you are trying to scare enemies moving a toothstick. If I could and existed in the game, I would play with 4 Bretonnia Knights with shield and long sword only, no matter the stats. Marauders are super cool too, even if Im more accustomed to the old black ones instead of the Khorne Red ones.
About looking cool: I just tried the Bloodknight's Gaze of Nagash for the first time ever. Looks awesome, best attack in the game in my book of visuals. Yeah, shortswords don't *look* that threatening. But ask the enemies of the Roman Legions how that worked out To get something like your Bretonnian Knights, you could ask Wavelight to put something similar into his next game; he mentioned on Discord that he use the Crusades heavily for inspiration, so some heavy-armed knights should fit right in. Also, you are doing it wrong: OF COURSE, Bretonnians would lance-charge into the dungeons on horseback
Eheheheeheh as much as I would like it, I doubt horses would go into dungeon crawling and small caverns
Always crashes at end of dungeon I have an ipad air on ios 10. This game always crashes at the end of every dungeon. It looks like it crashes just as it's about to finish loading the world view. Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this?
@jamesp: If I remember right, this should be related to iOS10. I am running on iOS11 since near end of the betatest, and never had any crashes after the first rounds of fixes for them. If upgrading to iOS11 is an option for you, I highly recommend that. If not, best send your crashlogs and an explanation on how they happen to [email protected] (good idea to do that in any case).
Confirmed that dance: storm of blades stacks for extra broken game goodness. Have two on my dancer and his shortsword is giving infinite attacks. Nice.
Thanks for checking. I did two more shopping rounds but still didn't find a second Bladestorm. So I guess it's on the rarer side of things, and this combo is harder to achieve than the Endless Ogre. Hhmm, shouldn't something similar - albeit with less mobility - be possible with the Greatsword? AFAIR there is a banner for him that gives him back 1AP on a kill, very much like the Ogre's Relentless. Give me a bit to check, I still have a save with two Greatswords in a party with two Slayers. Throw in the Amulet of Swiftness (fully recharge AP 3 times) - or the Acorn of Ages for the Wardancer - and you can keep going for quite some time I actually started using the Swiftness Amulet for the first time ever, as I decided to give the Bloodknight's Blood Armour a try: Great stuff, making good use of it so far. If I didn't use up its charges before the final room of a dungeon, my Bloodarmour BK can really go to town on enemies: had him butcher whole final rooms almost solo twice already. If you have the slots for it, add an Amulet of Morr for guaranteed hits for one turn, should turn the slaughter up another notch or two
[BUG] Deflect not working right? @Ben/Perchang: Looks like I found an issue with Deflect. My Bloodknight carries a Bloodshield (40% Melee deflect) and a Supernatural Horror (30% chance for melee attackers to miss). 3 of the yellow ranged-variety of Giant Spiders attacked him in one turn. 1 from directly adjacent, the other two from one square away. All 3 attacks got deflected. I never noticed this before, as I mostly used the Captain's Griffon Shield or BK Bloodshield which have both melee and ranged deflect. So either a) Something's wrong with Deflect in general, e.g. melee deflect also works against ranged b) Bloodshield and/or Supernatural Horror wrongly also deflect ranged attacks c) Ranged attacks in general are treated as melee attacks d) The Giant Spiders' ranged attack is treated as a melee attack
I have iOS10.3.3 on my iPad Pro and from memory it never crashed during the tens of hours I played before the latest patch. However I only played the game for about an hour with the latest patch. Could be patch problem? Also could be Air problem. Was it this game that crashed with that device? Too many games played to remember. # Only go to iOS11 as a desperate last resort if you are on iOS10 like me, so as to allow you to play 32bit games. # Also send report to Perchang as suggested by Nullzone. They used to be very responsive to bug reports.
Are AoE effects horribly bugged? Dark sorceress has this spell that centers on herself for 3x3 AoE... but damages her in the process Empire captain's battle shout (increase hit percentage) only affects himself High mage's buff (again 3x3 AoE centered on herself) only affects the high mage I am checking by the "i" button on yhe character template... it gives a list of effects active So... mages are useless in this game?
“Dark sorceress has this spell that centers on herself for 3x3 AoE... but damages her in the process” You drag the AoE boxes to target them.
@stbassy: What Scarletti says, you need to drag the red (damage) or green (boosts) boxes around for AoE. I just checked the Highmage's "Hand of Glory", and it does work on the rest of his team too. You just need pay attention to position it correctly, the color choice of green on green wasn't optimal for seeing the box. Don't have a Sorceress around currently, but I can test the Captain later. And no, Mages are not useless, not even as melee fighters, as I can testify personally. Completed the Middenland storyline just fine with mine, will go directly to Talabecland next to kick some Chaos butt
Thx. I see it now. The drag and select makes sense now. How about this one: sometimes, the "equip" button doesn't show up. Any reason why? And, does Chance to hit with spells use INT or DEX? (Makes more sense with INT, but cant tell the difference)
@stbassy: The disappearing buttons (happens with buy/sell, too) are a bug, see a few pages back. Already sent it to Perchang, but didn't hear back yet. Stats in general: Strength: Damage, unless specified otherwise (e.g. by the "uses Speed instead of Strength for damage" addition on weapons/armour). Dex: Chance to hit, for everything. Speed: Chance for Deathblow (free extra attacks). High Speed is one of the best stats, especially for crowdcleaning. With 9/10 Speed I've seen up to 10 Deathblows in a row, and regularly. Int: Damage when specified, mostly on Spells and weapons for spellcasters (not all, though. E.g. the Mage's Sunfire Staff or Soulquench spell don't use Int).
Buying characters with Gold Quick question for the group - if I buy one of the new character classes with gold from one of the taverns, does that unlock the various gear associated with these classes, or is the only way to do that to purchase the character class for $2.99?
If I remember right, you need to purchase the IAP for the new classes first. Otherwise they don't show in the taverns, or are shown but locked (I think the latter). The IAP also unlocks their class-exclusive equipment - which you can then find, or buy from the shops.
That's what I thought but I fired up the game after a long lay-off and in the taverns the new classes don't have the locked symbol on them. They show up as eligible gold purchases. Maybe I'll buy one and give it a whirl and see what happens.
