What is the max level for heroes? What do you all aim for stat wise? I don't seem very keen on getting speed and dex for mine I prefer strength, sometimes I like a little extra health and of course love slots and ap but I've had to reroll sometimes when getting extra slots as I guess I'd be pretty weak if I had loads of slots and nothing else?
I've played till level 14 if I recall well, then I started over....I'm not sure if there is even a cap, but I guess you can get so many AP and slots. Everything over level 7 is way OP imho. I just play with what the game throws at me. I actually quite like high DEX characters, they almost never miss, and even more high SPD characters who deathblow everyone.
Had a total facepalm/realisation moment today - I have been struggling through the main missions and worked up to about the 5th mission when everyone was defeated, going back to the main map I noticed nearby a white tower and pressed on it and it presented one of the side missions that I have now realised are all over the map.... Had been playing to this point with a complete lack of realization that don't just have to follow the main quest missions one after another, you can do side quests on the way to help get more gold/items/leveling etc! - suddenly the game has opened up and I think has been made more interesting/easier for me as I can make sure my team is well leveled and im not just scrabbling for gold on the main quest but I am surprised it took me this long to actually realize - Did i miss when the game showed you can do this or is it just not very clear? Did anyone else miss this when playing through?
I'm not sure the game tells you that anywhere (this is a great suggestion). If you come from the first WHQ, it was obvious..or they probably think one would press those glowing white towers anyway Jokes aside...the game will just get a LOT better for you now...more gold, more diversity, more items and yeah....probably it would be a nice thing to add a tutorial window stating you can do side quests (if it isn't already there, can't remember tbh). Just don't exaggerate with them because you can get easily overpowered. After you are done with both expansions, you will always have white quests to do...they are randomized and after the end the whole lot of enemies can appear.
@ste: It really doesnt matter what you get for stat increases (well, maybe except INT on a pure melee hero), you can make something out of everything, just need to adjust your playstyle accordingly. E.g. someone with a ton of slots gets loaded up with good stuff, while another hero with high Dex but low slots gets a huge 2H weapon to save slots. Lookie here how far you can get with a level 1 party http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=4062946&postcount=450
What do you guys call high stats? Anyone remember what kind of dex gets you near 100% hit rate? Same for speed and deathblow. Int seems pretty useless so far for nearly everyone.
Hhmm... I’d say 7 or 8 for stats. For specialising a hero, I’d even say 5 or 6 already, depending a bit on if the starting stat is 3 or 4. E.g. a Greatsword with 6 Speed but 4 Strength I’ll already turn into a speed-build. No idea how much Dex you need for 100% tohit - I played a full game without ever increasing Dex and my folks hit just fine. Int is good for the Mage & Sorceress, they both have weapons and skills that use Int instead of Str for damage calculcation. Just note that some of those skills don’t work right currently.
I don't remember if this was asked before, but if one of your characters dies in battle, are they lost for good? Can Heroes use any armour or weapon item or is it class restricted? Thanks
I have Armour of Thorns. It has Action Points 1 Is it supposed to increase my Glade Guards number of action points?
There isnt permadeath. If someone is knocked out he can get a grivious wound (like a broken arm for big malus in STR) until cured. To cure a character you have to level up. Items can be for everyone but the majority are class restricted (many are multi class tough).
So the way to get 4 of the same character type is to gain gold from questing and buying from the in town shops or getting lucky from a white quest run? Quess would start new game. Run white quests and not spend on leveling at first. Then buy the type you want as fast as possible to get a team of 4 elves or dwarves etc?
Thanks for the quick reply Pitta! I was wondering if the dungeons are designed so that you can use environmental tactics, or if it is just eye candy? Can you hide in shadows or snuff out a light to use the darkness to your advantage? Thanks
No, there is LOS so you can use obstacles to hide/protect (some enemies do the same) but no light/shadows. Another ‘environmental’ tactic is placing fire and ice to block or constraint enemies (they tend to avoid those but not when they can fully attack you).
Yes, thats the only way as far as I know. Actually I had first the idea of a full Galde Guards party when during the beta I found 2 in a row in random dungeons.
Yes it makes sense now Ive realised, but I dont think its obvious and this is coming from someone who loved and played the first game loads! In that at least it was obvious that you had options of other quests where as as this leads you from town to town I assumed it was part of the tutorial/lead in missions so would agree maybe after the first dungeon make it clear you can do the main quest or clear optional dungeons on the side
Have fun I'm curious how your folks turn out / how you'll spec them. If you feel like it, keep us updated.
