Now this is a great idea. Must find 4 loremasters immediately. Ill call the save : The Elven Council. AWESOME.
So emailed perchang yesterday about the loop bug where I'm stuck between missions. And already they have emailed back about possible fix for this in the next update. That's a quick reply and super fast work. So if anyone is having any trouble just email perchang. Hopefully everyone's bugs will soon be all fixed and we can get more incoming fun stuff ## So a big thank you for perchang and Pete . You've got a constant buyer here. Keep bringing the DLC and I'll keep investing #
I think I can get a full group of level 1&2 Mages, got 2 already (and one on lvl4) on an existing save, and still have Middenland and all my sidequests to check for more recruits. If I’m at least somewhat back to normal tomorrow, I’ll start them too. So, suicidal difficulty or do we allow ranged weapons and spells? Anyone else up for it? The more the merrier
Getting quite a few floating side quest locations on the main map. I can complete them by zooming out and clicking on the quest locations. Completing them sometimes does and sometimes doesnt put the rewards in my inventory. Once completed they do not go away but stay there and can be completed over and over for the same reward.
Im super busy with work next weeks but if Ill find them Ill sure try. Please report your adventures if possible!!!
Started this up this evening, played for an hour, had a crash and found that I honestly couldnt be bothered to fire it up again. Oh well. Perhaps itll grab me more as it progresses. Probably doesnt help that Im avoiding story mission #3 due to the apparent frequency of game breaking crashes. #sadface
Crashes at Cryptic Only get to Cryptic then it bombs back to desktop. My guess is that maybe Apple buy memory from different suppliers.Hence crashes on some but not on others with similar setups. So memory locations may differ based on where the ram was accessed from. Just a guess. But back in my Commodore 64 days, yes i am that old, this was common one machine to another with the same game.
All the bugs makes me wonder how many beta testers were used and how many different combos of device and OS. I’m in the no crash group so far but have seen equipment not working properly.
I don't know how many Beta testers they had. But I do know that Pitta and I provided them a ton of feedback. As they did not fix several of the issues we reported before launch, and the deadline was very tight, I am reasonably certain that they had to devote most of their time to getting the crashes under control (those were way worse during Beta). They are churning out updates really fast, 3 so far and it's only a week since launch. With the speed they are going at it, they'll get around to fixing less critical things (aka anything not crash-related) soon I'm sure.
[PLAY REPORT] Meister von Nichtmark's Travelling Diary Here's a diary of my current game in progress. I started with Slayer, Highelf Mage, Gladeguard, Darkelf Sorceress. And I made some rules for myself to make it more challenging: • go all melee • no farming sidequests • no leveling if I can avoid it. Levelups from hiring better heroes first. • stay at level 1 for as long as possible Notes: Going all melee from the start didn’t work out too well, too tedious with such a squishy group. It was doable, but I didn't feel like hardcore play where I need to be sharp and alert all the time, so I relented on that rule. It's interesting to see how the group grows and develops organically, driven by the stuff I found. I’ll list sidequests in format “Difficulty” “Monster Type” “Reward”. Now, onto the meat of things, the actual game so far: Beginning until Helsturm Mace was nothing special, won all dungeons leading up to it easily. Before doing the Helsturm dungeon, I bought: Charged Shot – Sorceress Dwarven Axe – Slayer Stiletto – Gladeguard Weaponmaster, Elven Sword - Mage Helsturm Mace story quest: Critkilled Brokenhorn in 1 turn. Next turn, my Sorceress got critkilled by a Beastman Archer; good thing I brought Healing Potions along. Won with some healing left. Noone in my group can use the Helsturm, sadly. Got an Elven Sword from a Road Warden on way to next town – goes to the Sorceress. Medium Spider “Supernatural Horror”: easy win Medium Bat “Barrow Armor”: easy win The Mage was the weakest in the party: low HP and no good weapons or skills yet. Very much dead weight. I swapped him for a lvl2 Bloodknight I got as side quest reward (forgot to note that one down, but it was an easy win). The BK got: Helsturm Mace, Templehof Armor, Weaponmaster, Supernatural Horror. Easy Rats Vampiric Bite: easy win Middenland Story Puppetmaster: easy win Easy Rats Shortbow: easy win, 600g Middenland Story Monsterhunt: BK again critkilled Minotaurs in one round. Easy win. Brockel: Swapped my Slayer for a slightly better level 2 one from the Tavern. Bought a Chillblade for the Sorceress. BK got into an ambush where he was alone vs 2 Minotaurs: He lost as I didn’t have a Potion on him; one more round, maybe two, and he would have won. I had to level him up to 3 for 200g to heal his injury. Got +1 Dex for a total of 4. Hard Bats Mage Shadowrobe: easy win Blightking x5 ambush: easy win w/ BK & Sorc, Chillblade's Freeze rocks Puppet Villager ambush: easy, got Extra Steps passive Rat ambush: easy, got another Slayer Malthen (same I bought in Brockel) —> Sold his Dwarfaxe, just enough to buy Weaponmaster for Sorc, swapped Chargeshot for it. Hard Gor Moonstone: easy win, also got a +Spd seal for BK. Hard Gor “Rune of Speed” for SL: swapped the Slayer's Ogre Strength Potion for Rune of 30% Melee Deflect. Hard win: Slayer got killed, revived, ran out of healing 2/3 through. But all made it out alive. Interesting note: A room full of Beastmen - mostly Archers - was way more dangerous than the 2 Minotaurs at the end. The Beastmen shot my Slayer to pieces - and *really* hurt everyone else, while the Minotaurs didn't get a single hit in. By now, my Slayer was my weakest link (same problem as Greatsword, only Slashing damage; plus, not enough staying power), so I swapped him out for my lvl1 Mage. The Mage got: Staff of Sunfire (sets enemy on fire), Shadow Robes (use INT for damage), Charged Shot (would prefer Weaponmaster, but don't have a third yet), Healing Potion (later Apotheosis). I also decided to go to Reikland (RL) and see how far I get there. RL 1st storyquest Sewer Purge: easy win, got BK Quickblood. Bogenhafen: Bought Apotheosis for Mage 100g, swapped for Bandages. Rat Hard BK “Sword of Waldenhof”: easy win, the sword sucks with its 30% chance to lose all AP *on each attack*. The only thing it has going for it is its high Critchance of 50%. But I do enough damage already, not worth the risk. Storyquest 2 Star Gazing: easy win, even vs Assassins. Storyquest 3 Enter Moulder: currently playing. To be continued... Stuff on my list for this game: In Altdorf, I can get a Strength Ring and an AP Regen Amulet. This sounds like an interesting combo (Amulet to set off the Ring’s AP loss when it triggers), but needs 2 extra slots I don’t have yet. In Brockel, there’s the Scabscrath Sword for the Bloodknight. And this is what my group looks like currently: Bloodknight: Level 3, 4 Slots, AP 6, HP 35, STR 4, DEX 4, SPD 2, INT 3. Helsturm Mace, Armour of Templehof, Weaponmaster, Supernatural Horror. Dark Elf Sorceress: Level 1, 4 Slots, AP 5, HP 12, STR 1, DEX 3, SPD 3, INT 4. Dark Energy Staff, Chillblade, Weaponmaster, Healing Potion. High Elf Mage: Level 1, 4 Slots, AP 5, HP 12, STR 1, DEX 3, SPD 3, INT 4. Staff of Sunfire, Shadow Robes, Charged Shot, Apotheosis. Gladeguard: Level 1, 4 Slots, AP 5, HP 20, STR 2, DEX 4, SPD 4, INT 3. Stiletto, Shortsword, 2x Healing Potion. Bloodknight and Sorceress are doing the brunt of the damage. Especially the Sorceress is a veritable - if squishy - monster: Either she blasts stuff from afar with her staff, or goes in and freezes anything that could be even remotely dangerous (like Minotaurs). The Mage is doing ok with his new Sunfire Staff. I’d prefer to have Weaponmaster instead of Chargeshot, but I didn’t find a third yet. Gladeguard is currently my weakest hero; with melee-only he doesn’t do that much damage, but it’s enough to take out chaff and function as finisher for wounded enemies (Stiletto is really good for that). Other than that, he’s my Potion mule, carrying two. If needed, I’ll drop his Shortsword for a 3rd Potion. I also got almost 1500 Gold worth of items in storage. I won't get around to using them anytime soon, as I don't have any free slots. But a lot of the stuff is potentially good, so I'm not selling them yet.
Stats of heroes Just got a Level 6 Sorceress from a dungeon run. She has gotten quite the same stats (only one HP less and one Intelligence point less) as my Level 3 Sorceress. But more experience points. This means it will be harder and more expensive to level her up than my "just the same" Level 3 dark elf girl. What do you think? This actually makes you stick to lower level characters and compare stats.
My game has been fine all this time but I just levelled up my characters from 3 to 8 and started the next mission and now I'm getting the constant crashes too.
@snovikov: Does the level 6 Sorceress have more AP and/or more equipment slots than your level 3? If yes, I’d take her over the lvl3. If not, you are better off with keeping your level 3 for now and only level her when you have to - e.g. cause she’s falling behind on the powercurve and needs more slots or AP to keep up. Also yes, leveling gets expensive quite fast.
I really hope they reduce the cost of gold for leveling and also add in a feature to choose what skill you level up each level. Force quitting to get the stats you want is a drag and its making it more difficult to pick the game back up.
How scarce is gold as you level up? Do you feel the need to purchase it with IAP to level up high level characters or is it sufficient?
I definitely feel the need to buy gold but perhaps thats my play style or the fact Ive encountered a bug thats given me 13k xp after battle @WLG check TA discord WHQ2 channel for the pic
Gold scarcity Gold is a bit scarce, especially early on when you see all those nifty items on sale, want to levelup and/or buy more heroes. However, in my experience so far it only becomes a problem when you spread out too much, e.g. because you want to try each class at least once. If you decide not too late which heroes you want to play with, don’t got overboard with the shopping, and - very important - sell anything you don’t use till at least midgame, you should have more than enough Gold to keep the machine running and upgrading slowly but steadily. I also recommend to make an early detour to Reikland to open up more towns and sidequests. Even level ones can beat Skaven Assassins, so don’t be afraid to go there. UPDATE: Forgot to add that you don’t need to level up that much. I completed the second campaign with my group between levels 12-14, and that was total overkill. Level 5-6 is perfectly doable, and I even dare say you can win the game with level 1 heroes only. I’m currently 3 storyquests in in Reikland with a level 1,1,2,3 group and they are doing really well.
I think the earned gold is perfectly fine. Actually I think its the most balanced thing in the game. You can have enough money to buy something cool or level up a level 5 Hero every 2 dungeons (even less sometimes), which is imho perfect. If gold dropped at higher rate, the game would be even easier than it is. I find XP too generous instead, I would limit them by quite a margin. Ideally you should have enough XP just to level up when you have enough money to train, plus or minus a dungeon playthrough. Im my many playthroughs after a bit I just needed the money, XP were always way ahead. Top tier weapons are 1k....which require 3-4 dungeons at most. Todays adventures want always everything easy Definitely iaps arent needed imho, even for inexperienced players.
Weaponmaster item? I beat the main campaign and Im on stage 4 in expansion... havent found one yet. Where is it?
Loot is completely random, unfortunately. I wish they would make some stuff fixed instead, suggested that during Beta. You can get really lucky, or pull total crap only. In my current game I haven’t seen a single Explosion Pistol yet, for example, while on another I got 2 early on. However, for me it’s fun to just make do with what I have/get. E.g. if no Weaponmaster skill is around, I can easily find another half-dozen items to fill the slot with, and change my gameplay/tactics accordingly.
