I can understand why a WH40K themed lane defense game feels "wrong" in the mind of many fans, as that was my first reaction as well. It's unfair to the game, I know, but I suppose using a popular, beloved license can be a double edged sword. Lots of WH40K fans will take a look at it, and fans are not rational by definition When i read Warhammer I expect something "epic", and the lane defense genre is not something that I associate with epicness. That doesn't mean that I hate the game or anything like that, but as time and money are not unlimited I'll probably skip it for now.
For the 5000th time, people don't need to play the game to dislike the game, the gameplay video itself is all I need. If the video can't interest myself, why would I throw money into this anyway. If people thinks this game is great then so be it, not my money anyway. But when people dislike this, move on and stop asking, it's our personal view and we don't need to play this to have a view on this.
You should at least play the game before you rate it, otherwise you're misrepresenting yourself. It's unfair and unhelpful.
Aye I've noticed a few people eating this game that clearly haven't even played it. It's very misleading to those of us that are interested.
The "Dark Angels" are the units in the book that coinsides with a novel. Apparently, there is some canon or history in the WH40k world most don't want to change. Kind of like Skyrim is 200 years in the future from the events in Oblivion. Greg Keyes wrote two novels that tell a story in the Elder Scrolls world that had to be historically correct before Bethesda would allow him to use their license.
The GW campaign can be found here for any interested: https://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1390008_The_complete_Storm_of_Vengeance_campaign_pack.pdf
No worries, I will re-rate this to 1 star after this crappy game go free and I will play to not "misrepresent" myself. Happy now?
Yup, thank you. I have nothing against your dislike of this game, that's your opinion and your right, I just don't think anyone should rate a game without having actually played it. Otherwise I'd be rating every freemium game 1 star without trying any of them, but since I don't want to waste time playing them, I just don't rate them.
All of you who is interested with this game but confused...i can say this game have a good gameplay...and all of you who like a lane defence gameplay, you should try this game, it is a great game with wh40k athmosphere theme and story...imho this game worth 4 star...(if you not agree with 4 star, so i will surprised this 1 star crappy game why so fun lol)...if you wh40k fan but disappointed with this game just move on and let's hope for wh40k armageddon from slitherine to arrive soon in appstore
Is this game worth 4 stars? I might give it a go but I fear it will end up like many other games I bought, played once and deleted
Watching a video of gameplay tends to give the player a fairly good idea of whether he will enjoy that game. Reading a review is another way to get a good feel for whether if it would be fun or not. Eurogamer's review, which is spot on how I felt about Storm of Vengeance after watching the touchgameplay Youtube video... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-04-03-warhammer-40k-storm-of-vengeance-review
That euro gamer review is exactly how I feel about this game, nice review. This just shouldn't have the 40k name attached to it, dull, repetitive, and not what 40k is about.
Thank you, then I'll wait until it's a bit cheaper to get it, I don't mind paying an ok game 3 dollars, but 5 is a bit too much.
I agree reviews and gameplay videos are a great way to decide whether or not a game is for you. But rating a game based on someone else's opinion is hardly fair.
Not the best and certainly not the worst. Def not worth the $5. Is some fun, but rlly not worthy of the 40k title. I'm still playing it.
Watch video of gameplay, then rate game based on what you had seen. That is a valid opinion. The touchgameplay Youtube videos contain no commentary, so the conclusions you draw would be your own. iPadwondersIfJakeWorksForTheAppStoreAndIsTryingToDrumUpSalesSoOnlyThoseWhoHaveBoughtCanRate...
I'll probably pick this up when it drops to 69p just out of curiosity but I'm not willing to pay more than that from what I've seen and read about the game.
But then in fairness, you are not rating a game on how good or bad it is, but rather how good or bad you think it might be. Such speculative judgement is valid for personal use, but if that was how games were rated, it wouldn't be all that useful for anyone else as ratings would simply reflect first impressions of previews.
The reviewer certainly is entitled to his opinion, however he also trashed Space Hulk, a game I also have found enjoyable. I did find his comment regarding marine upgrades not doing much a bit questionable, but his ardent focus on what he deems the 40K franchise should be, rather than focusing on the actual game, suggests to me he likely had his mind made up prior to playing the game, and didn't put a whole lot of time into actually trying the game out. It's a shame, but from all the kneejerk reactions that result from essentially any 40K game that isn't Dawn of War 3, I think that will pretty much be par for the course for all future 40K mobile titles.
