Just passing by, Galaxy Trucker is not async afaik.

  3. This is one of the most accurate things I have ever read.

Question to everyone: does the $4.99 kind of serve the same purpose as Fousaken's Puzzle to the Center of the Earth's, basically unlocking a premium experience?

As an early 90's PC gamer, I love this return to quasi-"shareware" and fully support it. Let me try out a small portion or restrict my gameplay with a premium unlock... is that a win so far for developers, though?

It is a pretty fun game a challenging, but very buggy on my iphone 5C (latest iOS)

    Please Devs fix the following
    • Movement - Allow the marines to move through the same square as a friendly marine. This can't be that hard to do. Almost every SRPG or TBS allows this.
    • Lots of bugs and crashes on iphone 5C. Probably because it uses so much RAM. maybe you can put in an option to lower graphics etc. for lower devices. Often when the main character tries to move or fire the game just hangs and i have to force shut down and reopen. Sometimes i lose the USE item i was trying to attack with and the enemy has received no damage. SOL.
    • Credit Balance - the balance on the Credits currency could be better balance. Maybe give the measly 100c for replaying a missing. i would only have to replay the tediously slow missions 20 times to upgrade my level 3 space wolf. I can't imagine getting enough credits ever to unlock all decks and all Armory traits without having to drop a lot of RL$. I personally pay developers more money when they offer permanent coin/xp doublers than i do on buying their IAP currency in bulk.
    • Beller Evolve - Allow players to Evolve cards no matter if the card is in a deck or not. i have to go back and forth (Decks/Cards)/repeatedly to upgrade cards. very annoying. If you evolve a card in your deck and your deck is no longer complete then force the player to the Deck screen when they try to exit the Cards screen
    • Credits in Armory is crap - paying Credits is BS for upgrading my character. You already nickel and dime us for other sh**, decks, booster, life runes, iron runes. I personally dislike and distrust developers who put in IAP for $99.99 worth of credits. it's just ludacris. You'd sell more if you cut the prices in 1/2 for the credits.

I just disagree with the business model for this type of game, sorry. I will continue to give it a shot though, as i'm only on the 4th mission, but it's pretty tough with the bugs. I think i had to restart the game about 15 times during the Forbidden Fruit quest. I just foresee that when i do put this game down i won't be picking it back up, unless similar games (XCom/Warhammer Quest). If those devs every came out with more IAP or new games i'd spend my money in a heartbeat, but i just won't for this model.

(Sees new Warhammer game at top of the TA hot games)

    Yeeeeesssssss!

(Clicks on it and sees price = free)

    Nooooooooo!

Old school pc shareware try before you buy type of free = good

    New age freemium = bad

I would have paid $10-20 for this as a premium game... #

Yep I would have paid $20 and maybe $1 per booster but these prices are nuts

I also forgot to mention the Disconnects are annoying. 10+ already today. Maybe make the missions offline and the home base online. Then you can't buy anything new, upgrade, etc. be connected.

Free does not always = bad. Download it and give it a try. It's quite good actually. Feels like a mix between XCOM (tactical TBS) and Hearthstone (moves are based on cards). Granted I haven't put a ton of time into it yet so I can't speak on the necessity of possibly having to plunk down money at some point to advance. All in all I'd say its worth your time.

ya, the idea of the game is fun, but the business model is just like any other Freemium at the top of the game list.

Lost 500 crafting mats thanks to disconnects now. I click the craft button, <bam> disconnect, "trying to reconnect" forever. reload game and i'm out my crafting mats.

I'm right there with free does not always mean bad, but it depends on the model. Trials Frontier is a great game IMO, but it beat me to death with the freemium model until I finally let it go, and that took much longer than it should. If it's free without a timer, I'm an old school gamer and am no stranger to embracing the grind, and if the game is good, I will pay you what I feel your game is worth.

What really annoys me more than freemium games is all these people saying a game is garbage because it's turn based, lol.

There is nothing to expect from most of F2p games

While it seems like the anti-free to play mob has already aggressively descended upon this thread, I encourage people to actually try playing this game and give it a fair shake before going off the handle.

oh yea, I've played and I dislike all the nickel and diming. It Definitely has F2P elements smattered all around the game, timers, premium currency, life/crafting runes, boosters, premium currency just to level your character. Like i said, the game idea is fun, but all the F2P elements drag it way down. What could have been a 5 star game with a premium game and premium IAP, it is now at best 3 stars with all the above.

I agree. I just played through the tutorial and I'm super stoked to report it oozes quality and dynamic gameplay. It seems to sport a deep and strategic experience. Note to self, worldcitizens quality game barometer is waay off. :D

Seems stupid to overdo the IAP on such a niche game

You won't see the F2P elements creep in until 3-4 missions in. Good luck doing the Mission "Forbidden Fruit" bonus objective without a revive rune. Can't kill more than 5 mobs but they throw at least 13 at you including the 5 that block your path to the person you have to kill for the main objective. Can you feel that? That F2P creeping in on you. Now I can't wait for The Spatials v2 to come out, a game that recently from F2P to premium.

I'm enjoying the game, but the UI on the iPhone is just broken. I don't think I can keep going. I'm squinting with my nose to the screen just to read stats. Understandable, but still... switching to my iPad before I get too invested seems smart. The UI is just fine there, right?

I had an advance code for this game, and while it does incorporate MG:Ac!d-like card use into the tactical WH:40k universe beautifully, the single-player experience gets dull... FAST. kill -> spawn -> kill -> spawn, rinse & repeat. No where near enough variety to map exploration.

I just hope they nail the multiplayer, once incorporated, because as it stands now, it's tedious.

Just a thought, if it's an optional mission, could you not go back and retry it once you have leveled up your character or cards then complete? Not necessarily a paywall... I'm only 2 missions in but I highly doubt they throw a paywall out that early... Or what is coined as such. F2P is not leaving, in fact it's gaining steam, I suggest embracing such games that don't throw it in your face or stick to console premiums... It's the world we live in and it seems to be the upward trend sir
