I got the $9.99 one in the Value Packs. As well as a Blessings Pack for $2.99 I believe. Now I'm just doing the videos for the Blessings.
I will probably keep it on my iPad for the first couple of big updates since I picked up the starter pack but I agree that beyond the showcase it doesn't do much for me. I find myself getting frustrated by the on-rails shooting more than other games of its ilk like Mad Bullets or Gun Finger probably because in those games your on rails view isn't as obstructed because of your giant imperial knight and certain special tap situations in Freeblade like shooting the Orks grenades really seem like hit or miss while other situations seem fine. I do enjoy the loyalty feature and wish more F2P games used that particular reward element.
This is nothing more than a tech demo mixed with timers and casino/gambling mechanics. The gameplay is pretty limited and shoddy, even the graphics aren't that good. It's probably worth a download to try the gimmick 3d touch and watch explosions for half an hour.
I'm loving it so far,up to campaign5 and have spent £10 on Iap(the weapon/armour packs that pop up). The only problem I have is for the last few days I'm not seeing any events? It says network conn neede even though I am?
Loving this game. The graphics, menus, and gameplay all are very polished. Despite the IAP complaints from some, if more games did freemium like Freeblade does, I'd be quite happy. You can watch some ads for free stuff, or you can simply choose not to. You can buy currencies and items, or you can simply play the game. There really seems to be little to nothing holding the player back. I'm at the last stage of the 5th act and I've actually had trouble deciding what I'd buy to support he developer as none of the IAPs are even close to being necessary. There is plenty of customization for your mech, and different weapons are better/worse versus different enemies, making loadouts an important part of successful play. You can scrap old parts/weapons to forge new stuff, which generally auto-scales to your current level, or you can simply upgrade what you have equipped. I'm also impressed how they did daily missions, not only offering multiple ways to grind better gear, but also offering ladder challenges that use pre-constructed mechs so that there is a much more even playing field between heavy investors and those that play for free or with little put in. I was initially worried that gameplay would get stale fast. However, there is a really good difficulty curve, and a constant introduction of new enemies/threats. I feel like melee doesn't change much, except to get harder, but the amount of new attacks you face and have to learn to counter with each act is impressive. I have had several crashes on my Ipad Air. My biggest complaint would be that you don't get to start where you left off when you log back in. Even if I just watched 2 ads before starting a mission to get boosts, when I log back in those boosts are gone. It's not game-breaking, but it is annoying. Overall one of the best mobile games I've played in a while. I am looking forward to the addition of multiplayer, although I do wonder how it will be implemented. Hopefully we see some other enemy races enter the game as well! Edit: One thing that especially needs mention: You CAN play this game offline!
i want to play it but i put it off for now due to the extreme heating of the phone. it would be awesome if they updated it for performance or options maybe
I got a second offer of 500 gold, items, loyalty etc for £4.99 DIRECTLY after I spent 4.99 on 500 gold!! Not bothered- 500 gold is pretty good for the £5 I paid compared to some freemium games.
Gameplay Tips Time for some gameplay tips GENERAL: - You can play offline just fine. Daily Event, and things like "watch video for repair" require a connection, but that's it. - You can do perfectly fine without any IAP. I'm level 19, a little bit into Chapter 5, and didn't need any so far (just saving the gold I bought to support them). - Play a bit slower, and the timers don't bother you. With my limited time (~2 hours/day), I usually manage Patrols 4-5 times a day, a few Chapter missions, and the Daily Event. Progress goes pretty neatly so far, cannot complain at all. - Don't forget the Salvage Team. Pretty handy, and gives nice stuff now and then. - Do Patrols: At some point, you'll have access to at least 3 of them. They are my main source of Ore income by now. - Save some gold. I got a Loyalty Quest to "reach top 5% in a daily event." Currently, the scores aren't that high, so I dropped ~140 gold for 3 more runs on top of the 2 free ones, and made it easily. - Save some lowest grade white Wargear. I got one Quest for "forge 3 or more items". With stuff below 10 Wargear Score, you can forge instantly at no gold cost --> quest solved. MISSIONS/PROGRESS: - I suggest to rush as far as you can get, to reach level 15. Upgrade/forge only when needed. You'll find a lot of Wargear on the way that will improve your loadout. - Don't try to rush/force getting 3 medals everywhere right away. Missions have different difficulties. E.g. M1 you are far away from getting 3 medals at the moment, while M2 is a cakewalk. - When you start replaying missions (for Medals or resources), pay attention to the droprate. After 10 or so runs, it goes down from "Common" to "Uncommon", then to "Rare" . I usually replay until it drops to "Uncommon", then move on to the next one. - Prioritise targets correctly: often there is a lot going on, and it's hard to pay attention to everything. Remember: you are sitting in a 10 meter tall mech, unless someone brings a Rocketlauncher or such, the footsloggers shouldn't bother you much WARGEAR: - At first, save everything. Don't forge it away constantly. At some point you get the option to sell items, which is great to clean out lower-tier stuff now and then. Not to mention the extra Ore you get for it. - At some point you can start selling off. Can't remember when exactly, but a bit ago I sold anything that had a score of 40 or lower. Now my cutoff point is at 60 or lower. FORGING: I don't have time right now to go into details. But forging appears to be a lot more detailed than I thought: - Seems that different item types have different value when forging; even when they have the same Wargear Score. E.g. I had a 70 green Battlecannon give a higher minimum end result than a 70 green Rocket Launcher. - Be VERY careful with autofilling the forge. It just loves to drop your highest value items in there. Which often isn't needed to get the desired results. - E.g. I could get a 100 Chainsword without using up one of my purple items just fine. But autofill insisted it needs to go in there. - Experiment with which items of which score get you the highest possible result. Especially when you hit a Forge limit because you need to complete a Chapter first, you can easily waste a lot of good items. - When you hit one of the Forge limits: upgrade equipment, if you need a better total Wargear score for the next mission. If you forge, pay attention to what you use. No need to waste a blue item on something that you can achieve with 3 greens for example. IAP: If you want to buy some, I suggest either a goldpack (just in case, not that I needed it yet); or the Warpbane Pack, or something similar that gives you lots of purple items. I don't think the Starter Pack (I believe it is) that gives you green items is worth it.
Great tips, thanks. Agree about the starter pack- I gave it a miss. I guess the loyalty points were the most useful part of it.
Hang on, what? My starter pack gave me 3-4 legendary / gold items... The "24 hours limited time offer" I've subsequently bought @£5 gave me (iirc) four epic / purple items. Tbf, I blazed myself to a point where the legendaries were outdated quite swiftly. The purple uns are still banging away a treat tho
