So, like, this doesn't have anything to do with Freeblade in and of itself, but...the first lesson in Dawn of War III? Never, EVER be the first Imperial Knight into combat.
It's entirely possible to make the top 5 and win a 364 item without any expolits - just by doing an insane amount of combos and timing them perfectly. However, I'm pretty sure there is at least one player cheating and not caught Being a LEGEND in the daily event unlocks the broken loyalty quest every time.
Your right, you don't equip the Lightning Cannon as Armor but in Forging the Lightning Cannon is under my equipped Armor. Strange but completely unimportant, as far as I know it won't affect any aspect of the game. It's just a minor categorisation glitch.
That's exactly what we need to know! The thing is, there are players who honestly didn't understand how they got the scores - pure "frenzy" - and (few) others, who have discovered how the game mechanics work and beat the score almost every time. So we (the rest players) either need to figure out a way to do it by experimentation and heavy playing, or we simply have a small glimpse at some cool high score replays for hints
Sure, it's possible -- just like it's possible to become a billionaire or be named Pope or walk on the moon. The problem is that in its present form, Freeblade isn't a skill-based game; sure you can shoot stuff and gain multipliers and not get hit, but the extreme volatility of scoring at high performance levels combined with minimal feedback makes any meaningful improvement difficult in the extreme. I've scored Legend twice in the last month, with runs apparently no different from runs that scored Competent: about 30 seconds under par with 95 to 100 percent of health, a steady climb to 8x and almost all kills made with a full set of executions. Beyond that, I know very little from the scoring screen: How many of the event's enemies did I kill? What percentage of the level's destructible objects did I destroy, and how many points were they worth? Did the final melee opponent I blew away in two seconds with my cannon and carapace weapon yield a Swift Death bonus before the event formally ended? For the most part, these details haven't mattered in and of themselves, at least compared to the impact of so severely restricting legendary wargear awards -- not only are the hard numbers of Legend slots smaller than they once were, the lack of a percentage basis for their award means they don't grow with the game's population. But they're about to matter, thanks to the upcoming advent of multiplayer -- and if the rewards for success in multiplayer are as lavish and lopsided as those now in place for events, the vast bulk of Freeblade players will enter this new mode at a permanent and expanding disadvantage.
I doubt anyone will give you a video how to beat a highscore. I had the same problem as you - one time out of ten I got a top 10% in the daily event. Then I started replaying every campaign mission and I got better. Try to replay a single mission many times with different succession of strikes and see which method is better That's how I discovered it. The most important is to score massacre bonuses and have 8x multiplier. The rest is less important.
Latest event, first time round missed two 2 assassination strikes and 2 Massacres, second time round I got them and ended up with a lower score. I am beginning to realise there is a bonus first time round you do not get the second time around. Any one else noticed this?????
For what it's worth, Freeblade's server appears to be down today -- no Friday events or payouts from Thursday events, and no ads available beyond a few this morning. Not sure if we're losing one or more Friday events, but it's annoying given that I have to once again make Legend to pass yet a third "Competent" loyalty quest. Also, my daily-loyalty track marks today as a gold day, which usually means a legendary weapon as well...
Weird -- I thought it was the server, but I tried resetting the iPhone and it worked all of a sudden. Very strange set of symptoms.
Just been hit by a FORGE QUEST!!! Aren't they supposed to be made not to appear for players who are in high levels and already have decent war gears? I am in level 50 and have a war gear rating of 3,738! Why on earth do I need to forge 16 battle canons???!!!
In addition to the stuck "Finish an event with the competant rank or above" quest, I have the quests "Complete 5 daily challenges" and "Complete 3 objectives" quests that are not making any progress no matter what I do. Edit And now they are working properly (except for the competant event one). Not sure what that was about.
Cheater... So somebody named Atomschlumpf has over a million points in the current Tiered Event. Next closest score is yezi with 577K. Also highly suspect but never mind that right? Yezi gets to do whatever he wants. I pulled a score of over 200K but I'm a Novice...
So, I see 1.7 is out -- I haven't seen much beyond a few patrols, but some initial thoughts: When might we see an advance in the level cap and/or tech level of wargear? It's been an age since the cap rose to 50, and having my best blue gear capped at 250 is getting fairly old. I like special abilities as much as the next guy, but purples and oranges give up a fair deal of firepower and stat bonuses to get them. What in the Emperor's name does a legendary supply drop contain that makes one cost nearly three times buying out a set of salvage teams? It was silly enough that epic drops cost 400 gold -- 100 more than buying out the legendary, epic, common and ore crates plus four blessings from salvage -- but 800 is formally ridiculous. Supply drops are still a good idea, but their prices need to be halved across the board...right now, they're simply not cost-effective. Speaking of cost-efficiency, I noticed that gold and ore pack yields have been increased slightly. As someone who bought a few of those gold packs to hit 50 loyalty, is it possible for buyers of the packs to acquire the difference in their yields since the increases? That'd be a few hundred coins in my case, and every little bit helps. I'm impressed by the new paint packs, because their potential hasn't been fully explored, but...they're going to require exclusive art like the value packs, rather than just repacking event liveries and emblems. Also, the selected ones aren't nearly as tactically useful as the Heavenly Lightning Pack, once I look them up on the event-item lists. (Livery and emblem effects are something pack descriptions would do well to include, because the casual user might not even realize that employing them can radically change combat...) Also, I've been stuck on a "Competent" quest, but I don't know if it's been retooled in place by 1.7 or if I still have to make Legend to clear it. On a tangent, these event-placement quests are fairly onerous because they're only checked every 24 hours, which basically puts a time lock on gaining further quests even if you immediately make Legend -- even a 20-item forge quest can theoretically be completed on the spot if you've got the items, but the event check often dooms you to 18 hours or so of unrewarded play for no other reason save your bad luck in drawing it. It'd be better if the quest checked your ranking at completion of the event attempt, so that didn't happen. Anyhow, other than that it doesn't look like other minor improvements (a Scrap Non-Rare Items command to mass-destroy white and green patrol loot, item locks on the wargear screen to protect them from forging/scrapping, expending extra ore to set forged wargear special abilities, etc.) are in yet. I'm still curious about event reward balance going forward, but also waiting to see this May contest...
Now there are 3 people having over a million points....I somehow managed to get half a million by having multiple massacre bonuses (5x massacre in a scene) so I think the 577k is possible. But almost 2 millions points is definitely suspicious.
Thanks Yoo, always good thoughts. I think it's pretty clear. They want to make money (800 gold to buy a legendary that costs 300 in a different mechanic?) and you and I are only two of a handful of "complainers" that they're clearly not too worried about. Unless something real in the way of actual responses about cheaters and game balance and the absolute useless point of continuing end game grinds with no rewards and only piddling challenges, this will be my final post. I'm done.
