    Special mission. Level 7.
Tap somewhere in the middle of the map. Keep trying until it appears.

Nope, did that. It's only one level too, no other versions to complete. I'm not sure it even counts towards the medals.
I'm grinding gold now to save blocks of 300 for retrieving all salvage crates. There's pretty much nothing else to do.

Yes, I've now unlocked a new chapter (the newest one as of 18 January). As you suggested I am forging a Rare 225 sword which should help with the hit box. However, the patrols are now quite hard (174-184 difficulty, based on the potential loot) frankly because my shield sucks (210 epic). A blocked shot from even a Squiggoth takes out 50% of my health. Sometimes those shots hit so hard I crash out of the app entirely.

This brings me to a suggestion (as the Devs seem to read this thread sometimes):

    • The rewards for a campaign or patrol mission should not be less than the gear requirements.

e.g. a Patrol mission expecting you to have a shield better than 210, should not "just" drop a 180 green item. a Campaign mission, say, "The Savant - Storm" which only awards a 136 green item, should not demand you to have a 190 carapace equipped.

    EDIT:
    Loyalty quests!
Forge 10 stubbers.... grind low levels, sure, let's get this done
Forge 10 rocket launchers. Fine, I'll do it.
    Forge 10 battle cannons -___________-
Someone tell me the next one isn't Forge 10 carapaces

I tried goding through the whole thread, google and youtube but can't seem to find any clear answers yet. Hoping someone here might have an idea on two questions I have?

I find time and time again that I come across war gear with significantly higher rating, but lower combined stats. Does the rating as such make a difference (except for when I need a specific rating to access a specific mission), or can you fully go by the stats as such to decide which gear is better?

Regarding the forge it is making me more or less crazy. I do not really find a logic in it comparing what goes in to what comes out. Is there any guide or clear factors which has been found out on how it works?

    Any ideas welcome! Thanks.

Ratings to clear mission requirements, other than that, just go by raw damage for swords/weapons & shield block value for shield and you'll be fine (authority: 373 campaign medals and 198 patrol medals; minimal IAP)

Forge at this point is trial and error. You'll see that there is a ceiling - for me it is about 222 purple and 225 rare. Unfortunately you will have to swap things in and out to fill all the forge slots (this saves Ore) yet still hit the ceiling. This has NO discernible logic whatsoever. Sometimes I put in a rating 280 legendary in and the end product drops hugely, other times I put in a rating 125 green item and the end product doesn't even change. YMMV.

For me, it seems that purple and orange items get the special abilities (e.g. extra damage to orks, increased damage on kill etc), while blue items get more basic stats like damage and str/toughness. I could be wrong.

One thing that messed me up for a bit (don't know if it applies to your setup) are the shield charges. It looks like (for example) a shield strength of 2000 with two charges is going to block 1000 per hit. A same strength shield with four charges is going to be blocking 500 per hit.

Hi again folks - there's a few issues that are popping up that I can provide assurance on are hopefully being resolved in the next version of the game.

It won't be long until you're able to continue playing through the story missions... hopefully I'll be able to share some information with you all on that very soon!

You'll be pleased to hear that the next version of Freeblade has had a pretty dramatic balancing pass on the difficulty of patrol missions. These should be significantly easier in the next version.

These are randomly generated, so it sounds like you've been extremely unlucky with the types of quest you've been receiving! However, there might be an issue here that's caused in specific circumstances. It may be too late for us to get that reviewed for the upcoming version of Freeblade, but we can have a look at this for future releases of the game.

The next version also has a balancing pass done on the forge - in general making it easier to craft rare, epic and legendary items and with a far less punishing forge cap on chapter completion. It should also be a little clearer to see what effect your items are having as you add/remove them.

Johnny, I've been grinding patrols for a while now, and I don't actually think overall difficulty is the problem -- from my perspective, it's the lack of explicit ranges of risk and reward. There should be some safer missions, which actually rate the "Low" danger factor all patrols currently list, but also some high-difficulty patrols once per day or so that rate something special: double ore, a guaranteed named weapon or something like that. If they're too hard for people they could be skipped, but there's still a place for hard patrols in this game.

As for the forge quests, having just gone from a "Forge any 10 wargear items" quest to a "Forge any 10 wargear items" quest, I have to say that forge quests in their current form are ridiculously unrewarding relative to the effort necessary to complete them. The previous one provided nine Boost Knight Powers, which just about covered the repair time from an hour of grinding to get the low-level parts for the forge operations...although I ate the ore cost. The current one offers nine Boost XPs, which are still useless at max level just now.

I'm not sure if the engine could accommodate it, but it'd be far fairer for forge quests to simply ask for five (10 is right out) stubbers or ion shields or autocannons, selected by the player and removed from inventory to fulfill the quest. That'd allow for salvaged items to be handed in for the quest, rather than the annoyance factor of tying up limited forge time to make useless parts...if I forged with current items, it'd take 130 forge hours and 2 million ore to complete just one of these quests.

A few more possible improvements for the forge and other things, by the by:

Could we get a method of marking parts (perhaps a simple toggle by hard-tapping them in the forge inventories) to indicate their importance and save them from Scrap Worst Items or scrapping? It'd be much easier to remember my favorite thermal cannon amid the eight failed candidates awaiting post-patch forging if it had a star on it or something...

Also, it's getting to the point where Freeblade needs either a trading mechanic or...a transmogrifier, for lack of a better word, to convert an item of a given rarity and wargear level into a different item type of the same rarity and wargear level. I actually took the plunge to invest $65 in gold for picking up legendaries, and...I'm up to three chestplates and two battle cannons in perhaps eight pulls so far. Right now the duplicates are all sitting in my inventory, effectively worthless.

Also, I've noticed that the loyalty quest rewards are heavily tilted toward taking care of this issue, but...would it be possible to buy permanent blessings? As much as I love tapping through two ads before playing every patrol mission, it's become the grindiest part of playing the game since combat is so smooth by comparison.

When completing a mission, I'd kill to have a Scrap Worst Items button for crates from the mission -- just something to get rid of common and uncommon items on the spot, rather than having to go find them one by one in the wargear listings.

Any word on why daily event prizes got reduced this week? It's annoying enough that legendary items go to the top 50 rather than the top 100 as the playerbase expands, but removing crates and halving ore probably hurts the average player even more since they were the more likely reward for playing. It'd also be good to know if any other events in-game will dispense the emblems/liveries removed from the Legend prize package.

Last but not least, perhaps it's just the glut of 225 and 250 gear I'm holding for the patch, but it feels like Freeblade could seriously up more item space. While the game's young enough that the loot situation isn't yet acute, it was Gearbox's insistence on refusing to provide additional storage space that stopped me cold halfway through Borderlands 2's DLCs...I ended up having to throw away something whenever I found something new I wanted to store, simply because that game's developers were inexplicably married to 42 Bank slots.

Thanks for being responsive. I just dropped some more IAP to reach Loyalty 2. The patrol difficulty after grinding for some time (current wargear rating 2513) seems to have leveled off, and I can win them if I pay good attention. However, there still some "unfair" enemies which may require either a revive or high toughness to survive. These would be the bombers that fly in from stage left or right and let loose their payload at point blank range, and also the ork tanks that appear from the side and shoot unblockable attacks.

I suppose these will also cease to be an issue after more grinding, though.

Will try to see if I can come up with other constructive feedback.

EDIT: Now at 399 campaign medals (TIP: destroy bunches of destructible objects with battle cannon to rack up multiplier; never stop firing short bursts of your melta; always get execution bonus; close combat enemies usually try to melee you if you reduce their health by a lot). Bring on the next chapter!

So, not to sound impatient because it's not all that urgent a thing, but could we get word from devs on when the next Freeblade version might hit? I'm at a point where I'm still nearly at capacity for rare, epic and legendary items, with 7.5 million ore and counting on hand for post-patch forging.

On the topic of forging, will the new system have any kind of display for whether an item will have legendary-style bonuses for heal on-kill, extra ore found or the like? I've seen a few level-250 rare items emerge with similar (although understandably lesser) capabilities, but I can't begin to say why they had them.

Also, I might have missed this in the thread, but is there any way to dismiss a quest? Most of the forge quests have been pretty straightforward, but the most recent loyalty quest (forge 10 rare items) is an order too far. That's like 30 low-level items (two for an initial forge to green, one more to reach blue) and 60,000 ore for the 20 forge processes involved...all for nine Boost XPs, when all I really want to do is get another quest.

The one thing I do have a ton of from loyalty quests are Revives, which I'd love to trade off if such a system opens up. Especially if you could put up items like liveries, emblems and ore as well as wargear...just thinking out loud.

And one last thought while I'm at it: perhaps this is a bit rebellious, but I'm starting to think that if a player is willing to be served an ad and Freeblade doesn't have one to serve, the player should get the benefit without the ad. It's annoying to sit down for a five-pack of patrols late in the day, perhaps my third or fourth wave, and take a hit to loot quality and ore returns on all five simply because the game won't offer free blessings for another two hours. Either let the game serve free stuff, or take out the limiters on ads served...at this point, it's not exactly like I'm shocked to see the same ad run twice.

Hey folks - sorry about the delay in replying to this thread, we've been working non-stop on the new update and hopefully I'll have some information to share with you about that in the next few days! Suffice to say... this is a *seriously* big update. Watch this space ;)

Firstly, thanks so much for supporting Freeblade!

We're aware of certain tile and enemy combinations in patrols that can be unfair. Given the procedural nature of this missions (there are millions of different combinations of enemy, tile layout, mission length etc.), it's tremendously difficult for us to catch every instance where this occurs. We've made some more improvements to this in 1.3 and will continue to do so with every update.

In future, if you find cases where this happens, please take a screenshot of the problematic area and the patrol sector on the pause screen. This will allow us to find the problematic units in question and alter their behaviour to ensure that you're never fired at off-screen. It's certainly not our intent to create artificial difficulty like this!

This is a great idea. Whilst I can't promise this will make it into the 1.4 update, we can certainly look at this for updates beyond this.

You are well ready for the next update and you won't be waiting that long at all. ;)

The next update won't allow you to see item properties ahead of time, but this is something we are considering for the future; for example, you could pay an extra 15% ore to guarantee damage to Chaos to help you build your own Chaos-killing armour set.

We are looking at rebalancing these quests for 1.4 to reduce the number of items required in forging quests. We're also looking at ensuring that XP boosts aren't awarded to max level players - they'll receive a different blessing instead.

Thanks for raising this Teddy, we'll look into what's going on here.

In my experience, the offscreen-bombing one most frequently happens near the end of a temple-tileset patrol, just before your Knight enters an open-air area and finishes by either turning left to a wall of infantry or right to a melee combat. Two Blitza-Bommers, one after the other, make a pass from right to left as you're stopped and turned 90 degrees left to engage infantry coming out of a side hallway; they can be shot down, but by the time they're on-screen they've already dropped bombs. I've learned to ignore the plane and simply unload a light weapon at the upper-right corner of the screen to take out the bomb, because it inevitably slams into your carapace a second later if you don't.

The Blasta Tanks' immediate unblockable-missile attacks are a bit harder to nail down; they tend to occur most often in jungle-tileset patrols, just as you're marching forward out of a cleared area and the Tank appears on a straight road ahead. There are also occasions when a Tank makes an instant missile attack on a right turn to the end of a jungle patrol (usually with a vehicle, infantry line and missile-launcher trooper in the distance), but most of the warheads miss you during the turn and only the last few hit.

I think the core principle here is a gradation of difficulty: not just hard and easy patrols, but medium patrols that simply guarantee delivery of the item low patrols currently offer chances of getting. I'm still happy to get level-188 items when they drop from patrols, for instance, because they're valuable forge components...and I'd take on a few more opponents to be sure of getting 'em. Whether that would occur by feeding people a blend of easy, medium and hard patrols or allowing them to choose easy, medium or hard versions of each patrol is open-ended, but would work either way.

On a similar note, I think a lot of people's complaints about the repair system could be fixed simply by graduating the amount of structural integrity lost on a mission, based on your armor percentage at the end of the attempt. Right now I lose the same 8 percent on a cakewalk Green Tide campaign run to farm low-level parts for forge quests (typically 99 percent of armor remaining) and an Ork-heavy patrol where I get spammed by melta-bomb infantry and have exhausted my light weapon when the Blitza-Bommers come (sometimes right down to 3 percent of armor remaining). Making the damage scale, say 2 percent per 25 percent of armor lost with the maximum 8 percent if you fail the mission and quit, would encourage and reward both smarter play and wargear use...it'd be cool to survive a mission unscathed and lose no repair time, Boost Knight Power-style, based on skill alone.

At this point I'm closing in on 10 million ore, which I'm sure I'll eventually find uses for post-update. For now, though, I sit through these 2048 for Money ads and imagine the fortune I could make if I could sell back my ore hoard at IAP rates...

Speaking of payments, I imagine a whole lot of people would pony up for the permanent blessings I mentioned earlier, just to stop watching ads before every freakin' patrol. And since I'm firmly on the pay side of the system now, it'd be admittedly enticing to add another loyalty tier so there's more to be had for those of us at 50 loyalty than just ending the annoyance factor...

Yes, please. Having forged a dozen level-250 thermal cannons blind just to get one I even begin to like, this would be a thing I would do in a cold minute...although I'm typically gunning for other abilities on the list.

On the racial-damage front, though, I think one of the things seriously holding back anti-Chaos and anti-Ork wargear is the fact that people don't know which race they'll be fighting in a given patrol. I get that they're procedurally generated, but a simple "OPPONENT: CHAOS" note in the patrol description would go a long way toward letting people get more mileage out of these items. Well, that and having some kind of ability in the Wargear display to set up a full outfit of specific items and rapidly change to it, rather than retooling the entire Knight piece-by-piece when the next patrol features Orks...

Also, the Wargear display could use a counter somewhere to indicate the number of items held versus overall capacity; I keep my current free slots memorized (six at this writing), but it's a bit of a pain. And I'd still love a way to boost that capacity, perhaps by expending ore to ready a second storeroom aboard the Fist of Caliban or some such.

That's good to hear, although I should probably rephrase my original suggestion: on reflection, what I'm looking for is a Rescan button for quests. Timed quests will obviously replace themselves in a day or a week, but a game progress or loyalty quest can just sit there day after day because you're slaying legions of enemies but not doing anything to advance it. I'm not sure how that button would work for quests (immediate replacement versus a time delay, whether you'd be able to Rescan a weekly quest), but it'd be useful.

For my part, I'd still like to know why daily event rewards have been so sharply trimmed...I don't think I'll ever get a legendary weapon out of an event now, with 50 available per day rather than 100. On the other hand, I'm suddenly doing a little better than I expect at my performance level (Hero rather than Exemplar, say), because it feels like fewer people are playing due to the removal of crates, emblems and liveries.

As for the daily challenges, I've been experiencing a glitch. When attempting the first challenge replay via an Ad video, immediately or later on, the blessings screen appears, with videos which play. Of course, when the challenge starts, which has no possible blessings, the app just freezes on the opening close-up of the knight, the only option being to quit the app and re-open, accepting one attempt is all you'll get.

Is there any word on the maximum time left until the new update rolls out?

I still give it the once-over, as I might get lucky and earn a few gold just for playing a level.

Hey folks, thanks for all the feedback over the weekend. I've checked in the latest version and I've not been able to reproduce the glitch that people have discussed with replaying daily events for adverts - so if you're having trouble with this, try out the latest version!

It occurs to me that I've spent all this time posting here without showing off my Freeblade. What do you think of it?

    iCloud sync issues?

tonight it stopped syncing between the iPad and phone

The iPad has the latest save but the phone never picks it up
I uninstalled and re downloaded on the phone
But am stuck at level 1 there

Every time I start the iPad it recognizes the phone save but the phone isn't picking that one up
I tested a few things this morning, and it seems the iPad is consistently reading and writing a new iCloud save, but the phone never sees it
The iPad always sees immediately if I played for a moment on the phone and gives me a conflict message

Both devices use the same gamecenter login, iCloud and FB accounts

I sent an email to support but thought I would check here too :)

    Thanks
