Epic quote line for an epic patch :)

Loving it and how convenient....I found just yesterday a Tempest Teeth chainsword (tier 4) while waiting for the patch.
Looks very cool on my Sanguinary Guard.

BTW I didn't have any particular big problem before but so far so good.
Did a fast mission just to check some skills (and the chainsword sound of course) and everything looked fine.

As a matter of fact....dunno if it's because I re did a previous mission with a new group (I never replay a mission nor grind, despite what almost everyone seems doing here in the forum) I actually heard TWO new chatter I never heard in over a month of playing.
So I do not know if you fixed something related or it was triggered by some particular marine presence (first time I brought tier 4 in that map I suppose).
    Anyway it was very cool.

Tonight I'll continue playing my normal play through (actually on Act 5 veteran).

APOLOGIES, EXPLANATIONS AND HOW TO GET MASSIVE (DAMAGE)
Nice news on the update not affecting the RP gains.
They are of course below UK minimum wage but with the 'quick' missions above are currently very generous based to the pack cost.

Sorry everyone for the outburst earlier but I was getting fed up with the lack of colour in my card drops.
A few quick games over lunch though and I just got my third stern guard, which combined with a sanguinary priest and sanguinary guard gives me a really nice team.
Just wish it wasn't the silly red blood angels.

    @RodeoMatthew:
I'm sure you've considered this, but higher-cost, higher-tier packs would give more postive results:
I've realised it's not not getting the high-tier stuff that is annoying, rather it's getting so much of the low-tier stuff that I don't want that is the annoying part. It feels like a constant stream of rubbish.
Anyway, I don't suppose you are able to give any hints about the odds of getting a tier 4 marine in a pack?
What I really want is to get a tier4 space wolves team (I have two so far) and It'd be nice to know if this is realistic or if I should just concentrate on the red devils.

How to get some good damage by the way:
    Tier 4 powerfist = 435 average damage
    +350% crit damage
    +15% melee damage ability
3x +250% BA purity seal + guaranteed crit
4x +40% glory of sanguinious (you can only have 4 of these because it's not on the blood angels assault marines, I think)
    = 435 x 1.15 x 3 x 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.4 x 1.4 x 1.4 x 1.4 = 105,096 damage

And you can probably double this if you are hitting a big target twice/get even more if you use a plasma weapon, but can't quantify this as I don't know the bonus for overcharging.
Hmm, now I'm wondering it's possible to hit a million. I think I may have to try.

Not that I have quite the marines to do this (I can only get a weeny 75k damage), but it'll be handy when they release the "multiplayer & titans" patch though.

Touché but you can't expect people to not mention it. Even you decided to post pics and post about it. Devs have data sheets and they can view what missions people are farming and there resources they earn. Unless this game doesn't save that kind of data and send it.

I do agree it's kind of sad to spend cold hard cash and get screwed. By screwed I mean the game states you'll get a tier 2 +. Spending $ on 20-30 packs and getting all 1-2* is quite sad.

Had a few spare moments free from overwhelming duties so I decided to play a bit more of the game rather than spend them posting my usual "blah blah" about the game XD

Just a few things I've noticed (these are for you RodeoMatthew and HazeTI)

    1. We all know that the Triage trait description is not very clear, but I'm playing the game in Italian language and the translation is correct; it clearly says that the trait heals adjacent marines and I was wondering how the translation can be right if the original English version is so confusing (at least according to all the people here who were expecting the marine with the skill to be healed)

    2. The translation for "wolf pack" trait is semantically wrong. I know that the word "pack" is also used in the shop to indicate a, well, pack of cards, and in that contest the translation "mazzo" is totally correct. But a "wolf pack" has nothing to do with cards, it's a group of animals (wolves) and in Italian we have a specific word for that: "branco".
So the literal translation for the "Wolf Pack" trait would be "Branco di lupi" (wolf -> lupo), but I think you could just call it "Branco", since it's a Space Wolves specific trait. It gives the idea of a group of wolves that gains strength by numbers, which is exactly what this trait does.

As a non Italian speaker I have no way to verify, I can get on to the localisation team we use but I don't think its something we're going to fix. I guess its just a case of something being 'lost in translation'. (great movie btw)

    THOUGHTS ON TIER DISTRIBUTION

    My personal experience:
    I have 9 tier 4 marines and 23ish tier 3 marines, from ~210 packs.

so I get a tier 4 marine 1/23 of the time.
This could be very roughly extended to:
    tier 4 1/23
    tier 3 2.5/23
tier 2 6.5/23 let's assume this is 1/3 of the remainder
    tier 1 13/23

Now for a possibly better resource: the game's loot tables.
tier 4 1/20 (This is listed twice, for veteran and heroic difficulty, so is actually 2/20 but I think it's reasonable to make this 1/20)
    tier 3 2/20
    tier 2 4/20
    tier 1 12/20

    So they roughly correspond.

Obviously it could be a coincidence, but if not then the odds of getting a factional-specific tier 4 marine in a given pack is 1/60, using the loot table odds.

So if I want three space wolves then 180 packs required ;-)

    Can't undersome some design decisions

    Dear reps of Rodeo Games,

I know that a lot of the posts here are from those who love the game. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. I got this game because I really enjoyed Hunters HD and WHQ. But I found the going so far to be really boring, due to lack of challenge.

I still remember the first time played Hunters- you got out, turned right and ran into the first opponents, who were very much like you. I got wiped out a few times on that first map before I learned caution and respect for the enemy.

in DW, for the first 4 acts or so, you generally deal with hermagaunts and the like that barely scratch you if they hit. They die with one shot. I was cautious in the first few levels with my AP usage, but then I pretty much stopped using overwatch and caring where I stopped moving. There never was any danger of dying. I only carried on because of the reviews that said "it gets better." All of this with tier 2 and 3 marines using standard weapons.

I understand that the game may not be easy for everyone, that's natural. By why would you prevent people like me who are not getting the challenge they were looking for from upping the difficulty level? Why do I have to play the entire game being bored before I can get the challenge I want? I was hoping the update may change some of this, but it's only bug fixes, so, oh well. Really, what is the disadvantage to allowing this?

The approach designers have taken with higher level weapons is also strange. The better weapons have much better damage and much worse accuracy, so the expected damage output is the same. Most also have worse range figures, so there's very little excitement in finding a high tier weapon. I have a lot of 4th tier weapons, and I don't use any of them, because my marines are not high enough level to compensate for the 20-30% accuracy loss. I don't think I ever will have marines that can compensate for that, because I don't grind for XP- I just play the missions and move forward. The wargear doesn't suffer from this- the better tier gear is simply better. It's exciting to get a high tier wargear. It's strange that the weapons have been so balanced as to take the fun out of opening the packs.

Hopefully this is good constructive criticsm. I would love to hear your thoughts on these, but if not, I hope these can be shared with the designers.

Interesting! My personal experience is: I opened about 60 to 70 packs (haven't count them, but I think that are the numbers) and I got zero T4 marines and four T3 marines. I'm beginning to believe those T4 guys are like ghosts or something...

I can confirm what FRATELLO TUZZO said, as an Italian speaker.
Triage is ok and I never had the Wolf Pack trait :( but it is absolutely as he said.
Overall I would rate the Italian translation really very good.

Ciao Tuzzo, conto di trovarti presto online.

We love constructive criticism even from people who don't like the game. If we only heard from people who liked the game we'd be a bit blinkered.

I understand what you're saying about the difficulty. We felt that we wanted to strike a balance with Deathwatch. We wanted Normal to be a fun playthrough that still represents some challenges. If you read some of the posts on this thread you can see some people are finding even normal a challenge. Veteran and Heroic and much much harder and probably what you're looking for.

In regards to the Tier 4 weapons. The accuracy is balanced so that if you get a Tier 4 early on, you won't suddenly romp through the game with zero challenge. Your marines have to be experienced to use the best weapons. You will level up marines enough to use them without any grinding. I don't grind, I don't see the point myself.

I've just double checked all our weapons and whilst there are a few high tier weapons that have reduced range, they are rare and the vast majority have the same or higher.

Does some of that make sense?

    @vogelman
I had terrible luck for the first 150 packs (all tier 3s: 5 of the same marine, then a few different ones, then 6 of the same marine), since then i got a tier 4 in about one pack in ten.

So hang in there, but god knows what the distribution really is. the above odds are really just stabs in the dark and the loot table is definitely not a good guide as it doesn't have anything to do with the pack distribution.

What i would say though is that if you don't like your marines and haven't paid for anything yet, you could delete and reinstall the game; card packs come faster when you are progressing through the campaign due to the free packs at the end of each act. No tier 4 by the end of normal difficulty? no prob, just start again until you get one or two :)

Tier 4 weapons also have abilities and traits linked to them which make them better, it isn't always about that damage stat.

You can finish Veteran with Tier 1 marines, its a bit of a slog but it can be done.

what exactly is this thing doing?

The description only repeats what an assault can do anyway (50% chance to strike back).
