I'm actually anxious and impatient to finish the game with my 5x Ultramarine team so that I can start again with a 5x Wolf team and finish the game again from normal to veteran and heroic with just 5x Wolf team. (I have 3x of these Tier 4 Wolf Assault boys ready to go with Tier 4 Fists and Tier 4 plasma Medusa weapons +500% crit damage to me seems best in slot)
That's really disturbing when premium game forces players to grind, playing the same level for a few RPs like plain f2p title. Premium games should deliver smooth non-repetitive gameplay. Completing side quests for rare artifacts in WH Quest is the right decision. RP grind in DW is a complete boredom. At least release new campaigns or random mission generator for minimal diversity.
I don't see anything about the main campaign on normal difficulty that can't be easily accomplished just by playing through. The grinding is just people who are determined to open more packs or for me it was to level up characters I'd rather play with. The grind is optional in this case but some people are overdoing it because they see the pictures of people posting all Tier IV characters and would rather chase after that. More power to them but it is hardly required.
Someone add to drop Spreadsheet: Chapter 5.4 Veteran difficulty, Tier 4, Chainsword, Tempests Teeth Who has edit rights to it? Below is link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jgBk8AWrrh52v9G0isQJiD0_EfllEXCtpEaYyFtHc3w/htmlview?pli=1
I disagree if not to say it's nonsense imo...it's totally up to the player to grind or not. It's not necessary but i see how easy it is to became addicted if not obsessed by the cards. There are people in this thread that already spent hundreds on those cards... But to pay such amount of money or grind the shit out of it is up to the player alone, hard to blame the game for this. From a business point of view i think the card system is a very smart move. The entry price is just 5 bucks but for a game of this caliber and length it is definitely way too cheap. With the cards they can do some good extra money (and i can imagine they'll make more money from cards then from the game price) and they totally deserve it. And that's the point why i also slightly disagree with using"exploits"like the one posted above in this case.Abusing the system like this cost the developer real money, assuming quite a few people use it that otherwise would have bought more packs. It's not like finding the best strategy for the carnifex, this is about finding the best strategy to avoid paying money.I don't mean stuff like the XP grinding mission on the bridge. In this case you still have to invest a lot of time and XP doesn't cost money. You can't buy them like you can buy cards. And again...it's just a 5 bucks game and not a 60 bucks game (without microtransactions) where finding this holes doesn't cost the developer any money.Would be understandable If the whole game would feel"greedy"but that's not the case here. Not at all.You get really a LOT for your money. If people feel the game FORCES them to buy all this packs or grind like crazy for them...well,i would suggest then to put the iDevice away for a day and go out to get some fresh air.
Is there an ETA for the patch? I saw a few pages ago that it would be available for the beta testers this week, but I didn't see any mention of when it was expected to be fully released (though with such a long thread I could easily have missed something). Because I'm looking forward to proper chainsword noises! Also, a question - do the Space Marines only talk to each other when you have ones from different chapters in the team? Because I had a team of all Ultramarines and they didn't talk to each other - was this just by chance or do they have to be different chapters to talk to each other?
Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. In Warhammer Quest, you generally knew what the end result in regards to loot was when completing a randomly generated quest. When you got a piece of equipment at random, it was a great bonus. This system meant that while you did do a lot of grinding for loot, it had direction and a clear end reward. In Deathwatch, you have to grind the SAME stages again and again simply for some currency to allow you a CHANCE at something decent, that is about as freemium as you can get. I would love a random mission generator that would allow for at least the illusion of diversity. Also there should be some kind of system in place that allows a few set rewards. As is, everything is completely left to the luck of the draw. If you don't grind or pay into the system, you really are at the mercy of the RNG to get anything half-way good.
This time I completely quote you ^_^ Well, I actually wasn't in disagreement before; you just pointed out something that made me speak out my thoughts on nerfing/balancing/fixing and all the posts about "please add feature X that is great in game Y" or "you should add this and this and change that". If it's something broken, I'm A-ok; if it's just personal tastes, even by a large number, I think the game should be enjoyed as it was conceived by the creators.
Don't know about the marine chatter, sorry I don't have a one-chapter team, so I can't test at the moment. As for the patch, if all goes well and the deva can ask Apple for an expedited approval, we could get it even by the end of this week. If that's not the case, we could potentially have to wait for another 10-12 days O_O, assuming Apple still keeps the same approval times even in August.
Call me whatever you want, but if RP farming gets nerfed I'm just not going to play anymore. Why is it a big deal to me? Go spend hundreds of dollars on card packs, only to get the exact same marines, the exact same tier 4 gear and multiple packs with all tier 1 garbage. It's frustrating enough to be told there will be no recourse for those screwed out of their money and for those that want to grind to recoup their losses to lose the ability to efficiently do so is just the "coupe de grace". I guess there is always the refund option
And the big problem there, not trying to speak for Rodeo Games here, is so often suggestions may break balance. Not all games are perfectly balanced right out the gate but a lot of times a feature or character will annoy players and they feel like it should be removed, tweaked, whatever. It's an old example but I used to play Starsiege online. A lot of players hated tanks in what they considered a mech game but they also hated missiles. Thing is, if they used missiles they could counter the tanks but that would mean using different equipment in their mechs (called Hercs in this game). Some of these players had such an ideal set-up that they'd rather attempt to ban everything else off the servers rather than deal with the fact they might have to adapt. In Morrowind, a more single-player experience, everyone hated the annoying flying nasty things whose name escapes me, but I found them to be part of the experience. It's a rough place full of things trying to kill you. Made sense to me and it was good archery practice. I do get tired of nerfing for no other reason than devs are always trying to hit this perfect balance. On the other hand, sometimes it's necessary. I really do feel for developers because of my own background. I have never develop or designed a game but regular software is difficult enough as it is without having to deal with animations, 3D models, or art assets.
I guess I'll just have to keep making the chainsword noises myself until then I'll try again with an Ultramarines team and see what happens - I only tried for one level but it seems like they speak to each other at least once per level? It's always marines from multiple chapters taking part in the conversation from what I've seen - with four of one chapter and one of another chapter, the one from the other chapter will always speak, it will never just be the first four marines.
We had an issue come up which we needed to fix, so we pushed it slightly. It wasn't acceptable to have the issue remain. the build is on the distribution list now, I'll check it over night and then we'll give it to the beta testers. We'll submit it to apple tomorrow (hopefully) and it'l be out by the weekend, or Monday. I don't think there is any, ultramarine only chatter.
Please fix the battery usage had not notice this until I read a few comments but I'm using iPad Air 2 and after a hour at 30-40% brightness I had used 25% battery now thats not too bad but for a iPad it is when transistor dint not affect it half as much
A little justification... Well... can't say it didn't expect this post to be divisive. But I really am sorry to read it. I posted that farming method for several reasons: 1. The devs had been made aware that people were farming already (not by me I might add!). Anyone motivated enough (i.e. with plenty of time to spend grinding/farming) can find pretty much all the specifics I mentioned elsewhere in the thread. Act, Mission, Skills, Wargear... it's all there for the finding anyway. 2. This being their game, I'm pretty sure they had the specifics figured out by now. Like I said, if any player can connect the dots and figure it out like I did, I can't imagine Rodeo hasn't done the same by now! 3. The first patch is already inbound. ...So any solution to this issue is either already included, or not coming until the next patch... in another week at least. In any case, my post is either too little too late (for people who desperately want to farm) or changes next to nothing (prospective farmers would have found anyhow before next week... and if Rodeo doesn't mind, they should know anyway!)... 4. The farming method can only get you 10RP per 3 minutes. Sure, that sounds awesome. But that means roughly 30 minutes of farming per pack. It also means a whole hour to get what 3.50$ can buy. And you know what? I feel like this is actually a fair trade. If you're willing to spend an entire hour of your day just going through the motions to save those 3 and a half bucks... well be my guest!!! If I was Rodeo, I'd leave it as is! I, for one, plan to purchase more packs in the very near future for the simple reason that my time spent playing the actual game is more than worth it. But that's just me. 5. In the long run, anything that hurts Rodeo can only hurt us. I want expansions. I want more badass Chapters. I want more awesome deadly loot! I want f*cking Necrons, mate!!! And all of that... has a price. If Rodeo feels like this farming method will significantly hurt their revenue streams, I want that shit fixed right f*cking now! If, like me, they think it won't severly impact the sales of Card Packs, they'll let it slide (in which case, everyone should get to have that option and know about this thing). In any case, it should be their call to make. Not ours. Finally, I just hope this won't divide the cool little community burgeonning on these forums. I mean, look around! Over 1300 replies in a little over two weeks. An awesome collective loot table on the way. People trading strategies and helping each other out left and right. So... yeah. I hope we can avoid the flame wars and get this thread back on topic: PLAYING AND ENJOYING THAT AWESOME GAME!!! Honour your Chapters, marines.
Firstly, I really appreciate the level of communication you have with your audience, I can imagine it isn't easy dealing with so many various opinions, but you are doing a really good job; great game too! I just noticed something as I was leveling up one of my Ultramarine devastator champions, he has a passive which gives him bonus AP for every adjacent brother at the beginning of the turn. For example, he begins the turn with 6 AP (4 normal, 2 passive), and he fires a heavy bolter (-2AP) leaving 4 remaining AP, if he goes on overwatch, as soon as the turn ends, he loses his 2 bonus AP and drops overwatch before the enemy takes their turn. Is this intended? From where I stand it seems that using the weapon should take from the bonus AP before the regular AP. Has this been covered?
That's great to know, thanks for the reply. I will avoid Ultramarine-only teams then actually there's a helpful side effect of this - it's been rather cold these last few days (in the UK), but as it's July I refuse to put the heating on, but when I'm playing this game I don't need to, as the iPad acts as a heater!
(In a ceremonially deep voice) Do not despair brother. If the brain delivery mission did get fixed, which is highly unlikely IMHO, there are still a few maps where we could grind. I shall Pm you in that case. (Evil grin) did I mention that you probably need to complete veteran to obtain the proper wargear to begin with?
Ok, so for me I do hope they add some kind of mission change so you can't just cycle the same mission over and over for points. Unlike warhammer quest, deathwatch is supposed to also have a PvP side and I can see thats going to be really unbalanced with some kind of farming limits, unless PvP does not have any rewards tied to it (guess the beta testers would know how it all works) An easier change than forcing you to do all the missions in an act before you can do them again would be to script in a "must kill x amount" into every mission as a speed bump, should be simple to add and you feel like your really running a mission instead of a race to a square to run that mission again.
Greedy you! I just want some named elite Tyranid badasses, say The Old One Eye. But you...want so much! You should have your own war cry, like "suffer not the alien to be left out"
