The first couple of times I got wiped out too; then I wasted him in one turn. I did this: The third time I equipped ALL my team with plasma riffles (all were tier 1 riffles except maybe one tier 2), and the two marines with warslots were given grenades. I then pretty much just skipped my first turn, the bad dude moved closer to my good dudes and *bam*, took him down in just that one turn - using the plasma super blast option, obviously, and the grenades. Found it pretty easy with that combo.
Loving the game so far, dissapointed about the packs. Only tried one so far, wonder how they will handle it.
What don't you like about it? Is it the RNG elements to it? We never force you to buy them, we give them away pretty liberally throughout the game. And you can earn requisition points very quickly by playing through and selling wargear / marines.
Ahh sorry should have clarified, that last part only refered to the issue of not getting a Tier 2 in some packs. As a mechanic earning and getting packs I actually like. Gives it a collector feeling. Hope that helps. Oh and still gave 5 stars. Thanks
Oh okay, We've fixed the edge case that it will happen with, the odds of having it were actually outrageous. Thanks for the review, I'm not going to give a sob story or anything but apps live and die by reviews, A lot of people don't really understand how much effect they actually have. This is why we're so active in listening to and fixing issues or implementing feedback that the community have, we make games that we'd want to play and that we'd want others to play. Well, we have no way to manipulate saves or award things remotely. But we're exploring options, it's something that I discussed today with the team.
You know RNG is suitable for Heartstone and any free game selling card packs, but in paid game this is not so cool, since you must be lucky to get something useful. And this situation getting worse when you realize that paid packs guaranteed you best loot. It's pure pay to win, even if you skillful enough to win without paid buffs.
Just finished my first play through on normal. It was a very enjoyable experience and RODEO really has produced a gem here. My biggest gripe about the ending was... well, my own stupidity really. I thought that there were 10 acts, not 9 and thus did not expect the ending hahaha. Regardless, I enjoyed my play through immensely and look forward to unlocking new gear and even more epic loot. Secondly, I feel a full team of Tier IV Ultramarine's would be ridiculously OP so I will aspire to have one some day.

It also means that everyone is experiencing the same thing differently, which is a pretty interesting concept. Packs aren't a guarantee for the best gear, I'd say the heroic rewards give a better chance, along with 20 RP.
Having a blast with this game so far, however just destroyed my own team finding out how cleave works . Took out 2 of my own team, one was sat on over 8k XP. At least I learnt from it! Having pulled any tier 4 gear yet but only just completed the first 3 acts on normal. I am probably going to have to grind a lot before attempting 4.4 based on feedback in the thread. WHQ is still one of my favourite games on all platforms and I think this is going to be right up there. My only real critique is that I miss the adventure feel of WHQ, and would prefer each level to be entered through a map rather than a menu screen. Ouch yeh I feel your pain, cleave doesn't really tell you he just goes berserk and beats everyone around him not just enemies, luckily mine didn't die learning that lesson.
I think if you give the game a chance eventually you get used to it. Ending turn you only have to wait 10-15 seconds- I myself have gotten pretty used to it now. (I watch TV during enemy turn) Great tip! I'm happy if you want to do it, I can send you what I have so far once I get home in a few hours.
That's something I've enjoyed - the rewards scale with the effort yet cards are random to some degree. Look at all the discussion it's raised alone
Some characters suddenly stunned for 1 turn Anyone know why sometimes one of your characters suddenly get stunned for 1 complete turn? This happens even if they don't get hit, maybe they killed something, but suddenly the next turn you cant use them. I noticed this happened to me on Veteran 2.1 and 2.3 i think. On some missions I seem to lose HP at a constant amount. Would be nice to know more what triggers these as there's no indication what happened or no message whatsoever that something is happening.
How about some type of daily log in rewards perhaps even "exp packs" which you can feed to your hero so he gains exp. Maybe a guaranteed T4 item if you log in 30 days in a row, you can change up the item reward every month. Or how about a period of time where IAP is half off or something? That would be great for the paying crowd and for the FTP crowd make everyone get some free packs during this time?
Or something like a RP doubler IAP. I would definitely love to see packs of T4 marines even at a higher premium. But I guess that's just too much to ask for.
Just beat act 4 boss! Thanks for the advice. I equipped all plasma. I missed every turn except a few and managed to kill him with 2 marines left. Granted all my XP is gone. Than I had to get to extraction and I was left with the same 2 at 0 health basically haha so happy, Although I opened my act completion pack and got all tier 1 :/ I thought I was going to feel rewarded considering I spent all day on him haha!
The Tyrannids now have active abilities, one of them could howl for like a second and stun a random space marine insight. And youve got to take it out quickly. Just tab and see which one's got that ability. As with the HP loss, it's even more annoying cuz most of the marines just cant overwatch anymore after taking damage.
So how do you sort your squad members and inventory? I'd like to be able to sort by highest level, highest damage, that sort of thing. Is there any way to do that? Seems like a pretty basic request.
