Endless enemy turn bug That's good news and the fact that we won't have to restart the mission too. Would you happen to have an ETA on the incoming patch? Another thing: what are the differences between the three levels of difficulty? I don't think I've seen it detailed anywhere in the game. Anyway, thanks for the quick answers and your availability.
Heh, yeah, carnifex's scary. Faced him for the first time and got my first squad wipe. Beat him on my second try, in two turns. Anything you may have to slow him down will be of great help(grav guns and time grenades). An assault with a power axe for the crit chance may be a good idea as well. I'm not sure what else you can do though, if you keep getting defeated just grind a bit to get something that gives you the edge.
Aha, there i thought you read all the posts to this thread. These three earlier: Veteran 9-4 T4 Missile Launcher Lament of Heroes Heroic 2-2 T4 Chainsword Tempests' Teeth Heroic 3-1/2 T4 Flamer Kraken Breath Plus this one: Heroic 4-4 T4 Melta Gun Forge Bane Also I suspect that what we get from packs are related to the Act that we are playing. Not sure yet.
Buffs and Debuffs After seeing RodeoMatthews excellent 101 on the marines I don't know what Buffs and Debuffs are and how to read the icons bottom right relating to them. A bit of help would be great thanks.
I used my T3 Ultramarine Warrior, using Fist melee weapon and Hunker down skill right in Carnifex face. Works really well if u can pull it off, if he doesn't quite die i have those stun grenades so it makes enemy skip a whole turn. I've heard others use the strat of using team buff for crit chance item for your turn then unload. Grav guns also work. Hope that helps.
Yeah my first time it wiped out my team too. It's like the jump in the matrix: everyone dies the first time I put a melta gun on a the veteran blood angel that I got in the prologue; he has an ability for taking four AP from the next round, and then an oath which increased critical hits...that and a hit from a charged plasma weapon broke it down most of the way. I at first tried a kind of split up tactic to survive longer, and that didn't work because of its speed. Jeez, I can't imagine two of those things...they are ferocious! Good job on that one rodeo...that thing is fiercer then anything I feel like I encountered in xcom.
I am a newbie when it comes to this game so had the following questions. 1) if a marine dies during the mission will you loose him for good like with x-com? 2) what would you recommend me doing with my xp points? buy special abilities or use it to increase the stats of my marines? 3) what special abilities are must have?
Came across a bug where the game stalls after all the enemies move and it keeps saying "enemies moving." I think it's trying to get on of the ranged grunt type enemies to shoot at my guy but he won't shoot. Happens continuously after multiple restarts
In terms of upgrading, I tend to rush accuracy (up to level 6 or so) so that my better weapons are more effective, but after that I go for things like adrenaline rush/preparation. The exception is my medic: I rushed his heal first and his self-heal right after, both before any stat upgrades. Against the Carnifex, my assault marine ate it--the Carnifex's first attack brutally critted my assault marine, one-shotting him from full hp, but I happened to have a team specced for the eventual high hp targets (tabletop taught me never to worry about anything genestealer or smaller, not s good general lesson, but fine for tabletop!); you only really need a couple items, though, all of them low tier and available early. If you go into the fight with your veteran blood angel w/ a melta, that's optimal, but not totally necessary. I don't like stuns myself (maybe a stun grenade if you have one, though I haven't been able to get them to work for me) because the gravity gun doesn't stack (it only removes 2 total ap, so you can't stun lock, a balance thing) and does such low damage. You do need your veteran to have adrenalin rush, though. Your regular marines can carry basic plasma guns. If you have better plasma guns, that is awesome but unnecessary. Equip as many stim packs of any type as you have--the mission is short, so damaging yourself is better than letting the carnifex do it. I got lucky and had 2 stim packs for emergencies. Try one volley at max range, using the plasma gun's super bolt: its damage increases more than the ap sunk into it, it doesn't matter if you overheat, but there is only one shot, so hope you don't miss. *do not* put your plasma guns on overwatch at any time (this mission), as they could overheat your next turn, which would be fatal. Maximum range should be six, carnifex should get one attack, not killing anyone unless he crits. Do not retreat, as he gets more ap over time. Instead front load that second volley, use the stim packs on your melta, if it's high level, on plasma otherwise. I prefer stim pack before I shoot a charged blast--you can shoot two separate blasts on the same turn with stim packs, but I prefer avoiding overheating to distributing damage over more shots. Do not waste time with maneuver: position as much as possible for shooting where the carnifex will end up mauling your closest guy, that way ever AP goes into damage. Good luck! Ah, and if you don't have Rush on your vet blood angel or open item slots, you can grind act 1 scene 4 easily to get the xp for your guys. It's super fast.
Oh, and character death is minor--you'll lose any unspent xp, but that's it. Nowhere near as brutal as xcom.
I bit the bullet and went ahead with a 30 pack purchase. More than I've ever spent on IAP. Both the 3rd AND 4th pack I opened had all tier ones! I stopped there and let apple support know about it...I figure there is a time limit on these kinds of things... I remember seeing 2 others post about issue as well. I wasn't really paying attention to this before and wonder now about how many packs I got finishing chapters or from RP that were all tier one and I didn't notice. @Matthew have you guys got a handle on this for the next update, and is there any way on your end to make this right for those that have already opened their packsin particular, those who spent money on them? I've never spent more than $5 on IAP before and feel kind of burned...
You got 30 packs and because you didn't get anything awesome in the first 3/4 you stopped to ask for a refund?
It's a known bug that's happening to some people. A patch is coming to fix it. I'd recommend you stop playing and wait for the patch, as your only other option is to quit mission and lose all unspent XP on all squad members :/ And you're not guaranteed it won't happen again when you retry that mission.
# Alright, thanks. I used up most of my XP before the mission so I might quit and grind some older missions while I wait
Oh man, there we go again... It's not an issue; it's called chance and sometimes it just sucks. By buying 30 packs at once we're not guaranteed a minimum tier each pack. You could also find all tier 1 gear and marines in all 30 packs, though the odds are low. And I'm not sure to understand what should Apple have to do with it It's a random generator within the game. Apple just gives us a platform to buy and download the game and the additional content (AppStore), but has nothing to do with in-game mechanics.
I'd say just open the rest of the packs, if you get a whole team of level 2-4 and a few nice bits of gear it's worth it. I felt let down w it's my 10 because I didn't get a whole team of tier 4 but I actually didn't do too bad really. You might get crap for 25 of those 30 and then get 5 amazing ones, it's just luck. Also people contact Apple because if you all don't know they pretty much refund you anything if you come up with a good enough reason. I'm banned from refunds because I auto refunded some big iap purchases from DH5 but I can still get refunds...although now I have to talk to someone and convince them. I don't advocate it as I only do so when something doesn't work and the devs won't help me generally, DH5 was a special exception as I felt I'd been lied to about the game by the devs. Anyway....don't get a refund just open them : ) let us know if you get anything cool.
Grav guns and stasis grenades work well. Someone posted earlier that they trapped it behind a termagant in a choke and just never kill the termagant, sneaky!
1. You lose his current and banked XP, but there is no perma death 2. Id upgrade accuracy so you can use higher tier weapons 3. Anything that gives AP and free fire is always nice
In the card shop in the game there is the following text: "A least one of the cards is guaranteed to be tier 2 or better." I think, that is very clear - we are guaranteed to get minimum one card at tier 2 (or better). So it is an issue when you get three tier 1 cards. A statement from Matthew in this point would be nice.
