If it's useful to anyone, I found a good XP grinding setup last night: Act 2 Mission 2. Complete the objectives asap, then split up the team thus: 1 marine to bottom left corner, just above the top left-hand corner of the eagle. He'll need to be able to kill 2-3 enemies per turn and will get the most XP. 1 marine to cover the top left corner. He needs to kill 1.5 - 2 per turn. 1 marine on the left end of each bridge, covering the bridges 1 marine spare. In my case this was my marine with a plasma weapon as he can't be relied upon due to overheating. Everyone except the marine in the bottom left corner was just put on overwatch and NEVER needed manual shots. The one in the bottom left gets attacked from two directions so needs a bit of manual handling, or you could use the spare marine to help and get a pure-overwatch setup. XP gain was 8-12k per marine per hour with minimal attention, and once they were in place they suffered NO damage at all. I also think my ipad didn't get that hot, presumably because I'm killing 1/2 enemies as soon as they spawn.
Amazing, this game is even slower than warhammer quest... Gameplay is amazing, much fun to have and really feels like decisions matter. Loot system is pretty okay. Seriously though i get that marines are heavily armored and kill teams need to move cautiously through hostile environments, its great artistic choice but games are to have fun and achieve something. Half an hour for simple mission isnt great. On top of that sometimes you just know you will wi. But you need to play for 5 minutes more and wait through slow animations... I would like to play this game more but in current state its just too exhausting and whole gameplay fun is kept down by how slow it plays. Keep in mnd some people just cant play mobile games for prolpnged times because its straining on neck muscles, it can make people nauseous, hurt your wrists etc... Just had to vent off. I will gladly support future if any expansions or drop some money on inapps because I really dig rodeo style games but for the love of mobile gaming make it play faster if someone desires...
Movement speed was something that Space Hulk got slammed for as well. Personally it never bothered me, but it was a common request here and on Steam that they added an option to speed up the movement speeds.
I think its more of a case that people might need and crave instant gratification, You've got the world at your finger tips, and everything and anything is accessible instantly. It's just the day and age we live in. I'm currently testing a speed up button, i'm not saying that its going to make it in, to this or any patch, but its something we're exploring and hopefully give you guys.
Well said, exactly my thoughts.I think enemy turn speed could be a little higher but the speed of the Marines movements feels just right to me and i would hate to see them move like ants on amphetamine...to each their own of course.
Young people are always so impatient. I'm old. That's why I'm playing TBS. I'm fine with the pacing in Deatwatch.
Could you provide a picture about the exact positions of your marines?I used this map a couple of times for grinding the last days and yesterday i made the"one hour"test but i could not get more than 5,5-6k per marine out of it on normal difficulty. The difference can't be THAT big even if i didn't kill everything on overwatch all the time.I'll try 2.1 now for grinding purpose. @Vogelmann:yeah,me too (being old).I played a lot of RTS back in the days and TBS seemed boring at that time. Now RTS is WAY too stressful for me and i LOVE TBS
@Crabman I can't post a pic but can describe it: I don't know if killing the enemy as soon as they spawn affects the spawn rate, but this is possible and would explain the high XP gain. The important positions were: One overwatch covering the top-left spawn positions to the left of the river, causing 1 to 2 aliens per turn spawning there to be instantly killed. One to two marines in the bottom left corner, one square above the left corner of the imperial eagle down there. overwatch the spawn positions directly below you as one to two spawn each time. every turn a little shooty alien will appear next to you on your left with no AP remaining, ready to killed as well. These are the important ones. Cover the bridges was very easy and, importantly, the only shooty aliens appeared in the bottom left corner so no-one ever took hits or got knocked off overwatch. EDIT: I think this may be improved by instead of covering the bridges, to kill tyranids spawning on the righ-hand side instantly as well. Possibly this will again increase the spawn rate? EDIT2: Having experimented with it, killing on spawn seems to cause respawn faster at least on this level. @RodeoMatthew: I don't suppose you can say whether the spawn rate would be increased by insta-killing all tyranids?

Imma lurker but i insta bought warhammer cos i read all Horus Heresy and most of the omnibus. Well done Rodeo and keep up da good work cos devs who listen rock da most!!!
Are all marine chapters the same rarity? I seem to be having terrible luck at getting new marines. So far I only have two space wolves, both assault T1. Five ultramarines, no assault, no medic seven blood angels, no dev. I also seem to get a pretty high ratio of dupe marines, about 66% of the time. Atleast they have been mostly assault marines so I get more currency for them.
Triage Can anyone else confirm whether the Triage ability on the T3 Assault Ultramarine is actually working? I just got the ability and ended my turn with 3 other marines adjacent and was not healed at all. Not sure if it's specific to this marine as I don't have it on any others yet, but I just went through 3/4 turns to test this and not 1 point was healed (yes he was damaged and yes there were at least 3 other marines adjacent to him).
Ah now I remember 2.1 I did stay on that for a little while with my original team as so many enemies spawned and it was easy to cover all the angles. Also I too was surprised by the blood angel abilitiy that shoots everyone, although I kept him for a while and still didn't like removing him but I went with a tier 3. His ability for me is very situational as I like to keep my team together but if you get a chance to los him from your team into a bunch of enemies it's great and only on a 2 turn cd!
I replied to your support ticket / mail. You heal the marines next to you, not yourself. I've adjusted the text for the patch.
Ahh ok I understand now, yeah the description in game doesn't make that clear. Thanks for the ultra swift response and clarification Matthew!
Love the game, but like many others commented, the computers turns take way too long. Last night, I friggin feel asleep waiting for my turn. I don't think I can play DW anymore. Love WHQ, as well and use the "speed up" button every single time...wish that was even a little faster tho.
Thanks for testing a speed Button. That would be a huge quality of life option. Especially since some missions have incredibly frustrating animations haha. Like the end of mission 3. Each turn you have to wait for the camera to tune in to each mine field, than all three have to blow up before you take your turn. I think that mission took me an hour when it should have been 20 minutes lol!
