hey fellow hundreds of dollars supporter. glad to hear someone has everything. i'm still short a class from each. agreed, and perhaps one of the reasons i keep writing about this, hoping Rodeo have heard. as a developer myself, revenue is of course an issue. but a place like toucharcade where you can interact directly with the developer and vice versa is rare.
Hi, Sorry if this has been answered before, but are there any plans for enabling icloud saves in the game? Also any chance we'll see more acts/marines/weapons/enemies in the future? Love the game btw, as far as mobile games go, this one's my favourite - despite some bugs and shortcomings it has. The little flavor conversations between marines, sounds in general, difficulty/tactical gameplay on higher difficulties are the things why I'd recommend this to any wh40k fan (oh and the models ofc). Some levels though (on heroic). When Pyrovores are chasing you without end. Or when 2 tyrant guards are thrown in on that little map while you are already overwhelmed. Those are just evil. Good job
iCloud saves are unfortunately not possible because the game was developed in Unity. The folks behind the development of the Unity engine would have to build this in for it to be possible. Until then, there is nothing Rodeo can do. I've mentioned to people in the past that you move your entire game from one device to another by copying the Deathwatch Data folder that you find under Apps in iTunes to your desktop and then to your other device. It's a pain but if you just want to switch between them, it's a way to do it.
That's great, all I wanted is to be able to grind some xp/rp on the phone if in those 5 minutes where you're just standing in a line or something and dont want to get a bigger device out. Thanks!
Actually the game is built using Epic Unreal Engine 4 (the only game in the AppStore as far as I know, certainly the first one), not Unity. Also, of course it would be awesome if UE already supported iCloud sync out of the bat but nothing prevents devs to use their own wrapper for that anyway...UE is just a graphical engine. I would love it (and I think every universal game should have it) but personally I'm not expecting it.
Just a thought but maybe the IAP should have been for straight up items and characters instead of loot. Then people would get exactly what they pay for. The currently system is basically gambling for random items and it's not surprising that it would irritate some of the high rollers.
A way to remedy this would be if you couldn't get items you already had. Like the game's system or w/e recognizes what you already have unlocked, and gives you whatever isn't there.
I'm guessing he got it from the free pack after completing act 1, but as a reward for 1-4 itself, but I do not have the PC version to confirm that. If I'm incorrect, feel free to correct me SfBay-63
just finished heroic with all ultramarine squad.what a great game thanks rodeogames.now im gonna take a break for a couple days and im gonna play again with all blood angel squad from normal while waiting for new updates and content hopefully.does anyone knows where i can find t4 impedance field ? i can only find t3 from act 1.2 i know from the docs its said you could find it from act 4.2 but i tried grind it for days and couldnt find any.and thanks for everyone who contributes for making the loot item table
I've been thinking about this (card packs) a bit and I think the best solution would be to make the packs cheaper. A lot cheaper. No changes to the actual game would be required and cheaper card packs would get more people to try them out and those who have spent 100's on packs would have gotten more cards and a better likely hood of collecting everything. The current prices are to high to expect people to pay for the slightest chances of getting something new, awesome or they are looking for. I would certainly be more willing to buy chances if it came with a greater chance of getting something. More cards means more chances. Also, I feel that you shouldn't get any gear in the packs that comes with a Marine. They are completely unusable. Ever character who can use them came with one. What are we supposed to do with those items?
It'd help. My suspicion is that the packs are intended as expensive "luxury" purchases, but Rodeo underestimated demand - how many (or how much) people would be dissatisfied with the free RP accumulation. Isn't one of the packages something like 30 packs for $30? It's easy to imagine more than 30 times as people buying if the price was 1 dollar. It's easy to imagine that not happening, too. Though it might have encouraged speculation/"completism." I've been afraid to try calculating how many packs it'd take to get a 50% chance at a complete codex. I've been trying to figure out how Rodeo expected people to play. Play through the whole campaign through each difficulty level, accumulating stuff for free, and then re-setting the whole shebang? That's what seems most likely to me. Or maybe the most satisfying to me. Counting just Normal and Vet, you'd get more than 20 packs. (I'm not counting Heroic because how do you incorporate Marines gained there into a party in Heroic? You grind.) 20 some packs with no grinding, no money spent on IAP. Then, if you want more stuff, you do it all again: Another 20+ free packs. Call it 25 if you sell of many of the marines. (For the PC version, I think it'd be 35 or more.) Aside from some people wanting everything, I see some problems with that: 1) With a little bad luck you may not get much variety with those free packs. 2) People will have already been tempted to grind - maybe just to work in the new marines they get as they play. Maybe not so much tempted, but they assume "grind" is what's intended. And once they're grinding, really *investing* their time in their barracks and armory, resetting is going to be unattractive. 3) No "reset" button. You have to un-install and re-install. That makes it the procedure, IMO, completely unintuitive. It seems like what you're *not* supposed to do. 4) You start with the same party of marines each time. I like the guys you start with, and I like playing the campaign multiple times - but I don't want to play with those starting-marines over and over again. So players don't restart, and they're soon left with three alternatives 1) buying packs with RPs. Due to the RNG you could easily be playing with overly-similar marines and it'll feel like grinding. So: Viable, but so easily defeated by luck. I suspect you need significant good luck for it to work really well. 2) buying packs with money: Prohibitively expensive IMO, and there's still that RNG: Lower the price and you'll still be grinding with money. It's just a question of how much. (I think there is probably a good price level - satisfying to both devs. and players. I wonder where? I'm glad my job doesn't rely on finding it.) Final alternative: 3) Frustration. So many marines, so much wargear ... They look like so much fun, and you don't have them. I think this sort of "tactically elegant" game thrives on variety for high replayability. It'll come from either the units or the scenarios. The provided scenarios are good, but aren't sufficient to provide sufficient variety ("high" replayability) on their own. The total units/wargear made for the game are enough, I believe. But the RNG/IAP arrangement tends to keep most of them out of player's hands. That's not to say the game doesn't have good replayability. I think it was a great value for my $5. And, at that point - even at "decent value" - the dev's responsibilities have been discharged. But it could have been so much more. Given the in-game Codex, it's painfully obvious.
Yes, I swear, act 1, mission 4 on PC veteran difficulty. I can't believe it either .....rarer than winning a million dollars probably! Might have been the random generator on PC but it's not enhanced gear.
I'm guessing he got it from the free pack after completing act 1, but as a reward for 1-4 itself, but I do not have the PC version to confirm that. Hi vect, it dropped after one of many, many re-runs on 1-4 and not as a level complete pack. Wish I could get it to happen again, I fell out of my chair....
Not sure off hand but if you hold your finger down on just about anything in the game you will get its details in a pop up window.
Oh, nice! Very interesting. Gotta let us know if you find a medusa in the post mission screens Oath of vengeance, tier 2 purity seal. Gives you +1 AP for every kill you get for one turn Good point, probably easier than how I found out.
I agree that the implementation of IAP is amateurish really. I wouldn't pay for packs to play this game because of the RNG. What they should have done from the start was at least guarantee a T3 or T4 with the 30 pack purchase. You're just slapping paying players in the face when they throw down that much money and get T2s. There are many games that get IAP right without punishing non-paying players, it helps to do some homework.
Just wanted to pop in and see what's new. I finished my codex last week after grinding 2-4 for months. Hoping for some new stuff as I would happily drop some money for new levels and marines
