Have drawn 60 packs in two days and not one 4 tier marine and have come here to vent - How is that / should that even be possible?!
That doesn't sound terribly outside the realm of possibility, especially if you're just starting out. Idk if it's because your RNG takes time to ramp up or if your RNG is tied to the current tier of difficulty, but it definitely took me quite a while to get my first tier 4 marine, probably not until the middle acts of heroic. But I bought my first set of packs after finishing heroic as a thank you to rodeo, and I got 2 or 3 t4 marines in the 30 I opened (including my coveted master of relics!). Can't decide if I'm going to start BA or UM play through next...
Probably all fair comments, I was just letting off steam. I do think if someone is paying £27 for a 30 pack, they should have a better or guaranteed chance of a tier 4 marine. Still no tier 4 devs, though drew a tyranic war vet since my last message
I came back to the game, advanced in veteran, I'm at chapter 4 now, and I just got my first level 4 Marine. I was really happy, but then I thought about the chore of levelling him, and seriously guys, what with the HORRIBLE GRINDING ! A game should be about enjoying, spending good times, but spending 20 hours doing 2.2 isn't my idea of fun, and I think that bringing the guy to lvl 30 should take at least this time. And then the same again for another lvl4, and again, and again... That's just bad, honestly, maybe I should just enjoy the time I had on the game, and delete it, but maybe, on your next game, you should consider players with a life, who don't like to grind during hundreds of hours, but prefer to PLAY a game. You know, have fun, this kind of things.
Je suis d'accord. I hope they introduce a system that allows you to delete old marines and use their experience to level up new marines. It would save a lot of grinding and allow players more time to enjoy the game and try different teams. Great comment.
I must admit I've got to the point now where I agree with both these comments. I've ground this game ALOT as I love the graphics so much. But I'm a bit stuck, getting no more t4 marines or equipment, then there's levelling up new guys. The totally random bought packs is actually STOPPING me from spending money on them. If there was a guaranteed chance of getting 1 or 2 t4 marines/weapons, or an increased % chance of this it would seem like more incentive to buy more. Plus maybe the thing people have mentioned like being able to recycle a Marine to put half his XP into another one. (That said its just an amazing game and I'll probably go back to it again after a short break).
I've found my first (and so far the last) T4 Lone Wolf in the Act 3 of normal difficulty. And I understand now how lucky I was.
That's a great idea, I hope they'll take it into consideration. Thing is, I love the game, it's really great, but just to be able to end the campaign in normal difficulty, I had to grind a lot. I mean, A LOT. I loved the game though, so I bought 15 of cards, had absolutely nothing interesting in it, and was a little put down by that. Anyway I started the campaign in veteran difficulty, and had to grind again. So I played 2.2, again and again, when I had the courage, and now I have a great team of tier 3 Marines, all unlocked, and lvl 30. With them I'm able to beat the missions, but I earn around 2k experience on a mission, need 25k to gain a level, and when the difficulty will increase again, I'll have to grind, again... It's when I had this tier 4 Marine that I really was down, I know I'll need him in heroic, with others obviously, and the idea of spending again hours and hours making this dull thing that is grinding 2.2, it wears me down... That's sad, honestly, because except for this and the free to play mechanic, it's a really great game... Makes me wish ios gaming wasn't what it is today, so I could have real games...
Multiple pack bonus? Up until today, I always bought a single pack everytime I had over 100 requisition points. I rarely got anything interesting. Then I decided to save up 400 points for 4 packs at once. In those 4 packs, I got 2 tier 4 marines (Sternguard and Lone Wolf), and the tier 3 Blood Angel Tactical Champion with the Evaluate Target skill. I also got a frostbite and doom of the behemoth. Those 4 packs were better than my previous 40 combined. Maybe buying/opening multiple packs at once has some hidden advantage over buying one at a time? Or maybe it was just luck?
Definitely luck but well done its great to get those T4 marines! I recently bought ten packs just to support the devs in some small way. Nothing over T3 and nothing i didn't already have. I really don't mind though, very happy with the marines and weapons etc i already have. For €4.99 its incredible value.
I have to agree that it was luck. I've bought 30 packs, 10 packs and opened many single packs and all but 2 of my t4 Marines came from the 10 packs. The other two were sanguinary priest, one from a single pack and one from the 30 packs. I think the "problem" with the packs is each one is populated as if it's the only pack being purchased regardless of how many you buy at one time. When you buy physical packs of trading cards the boxes are loaded to assure a certain percentage of the cards are rare or special cards from the set. So buying more packs from the same box increases your chances of getting the good stuff. Here each pack is treated as though it is from a different box, greatly decreasing your chances of getting the good ones. Not sure if this method is right or wrong but it is definitely bad for those buying the 30 packs and makes it lees likely they will want to buy more if it doesn't increase the chances of getting better cards.
That really punishes the people who don't make purchases or only like to dip their toes in to IAPs. Hopefully this is something we can address moving forward, be it with a crafting system or something of the like.
I agree and it is a tough balance. I was just really frustrated as I had lined up 60 or so packs and thought I must get something I wanted out of them. Have since had better RNG so patience paid off! Crafting system sounds great
Has anyone experienced items disappearing? I am sure I had 6 Saga of the Iron Wolfs and now have 5 - it is conceivable (though unlikely) that I accidentally sold it
How about combining cards to get a better card? Combine multiple T1 of the same card and get a T2 of a similar card. I've seen this in other games and it seems to be fair. As it is people are probably not buying as many as they would since they aren't guaranteed to get better cards for spending more on packs. When I bought 30 packs I ended up selling all but about 10 cards back for the RP because they where all useless to me. I mean how many T1 bolt pistol do you need? As a result I won't be buying anymore packs and just take my chances with the free ones I earn. $36 is a lot of money that I basically just donated to rodeo games. I understand it can be a hard balance to find but it is currently severally balanced against the players who are giving you their money.
I noticed once that when I deleted an plasma rifle, it didn't seem to delete. It was because inventory showed that I had 5, when I actually had 7. After I deleted a few, the visible number started to drop on screen. I think it's just a rare display glitch and you actually have 6.
I personally stopped playing until a crafting or upgrade system is introduced. The grind is just too heavy for the limited time I have to play. It's still a great game, just burned me out once the honeymoon phase was over... E
