I found a different set of wargear and tactics including fists helped me when I had a similar problem. Maybe a change is as good as a rest?
@hincy I try playing in different areas of the map: Try moving your team to the spawn point or to another corner of the map I really struggled to beat A8M4 because I was playing in the top-left corner. Moved to the top-right corner and can beat it every time. Edit: obviously only true for the tower-defense missions.
Just completed A1M4 on Heroic and finally pulled a BA Tier IV Sanguinary Guard. I now have 4 T4 marines, Lone Wolf and 2 Master of Relics but will not bother with the SG as I have a decent leveled team so far. This is the first T4 marine I got from earned packs after the others came out of the 34 packs I bought on the first run through. Once I complete heroic I think I will begin again on normal with a new team and see where I get to, as my current set up if a little OP and makes the game pretty easy tbh. Any else agree? Maybe Devs could add a hardcore mode later I think that 50% crit is the max for all marines as my Lone Wolf is maxed at 50%.
I know right? It's gigantic, and it's constantly on top. What did the devs do, coat the code with sugar? Or are people just crazy about geometry?
That's what I've found too. Max health is 400. Max accuracy is 100 max crit is 50% Actually health might be different as some marines starts with different amounts. Worked it out. 5.5millioin exp to max all three. Speaking of which, has anyone bothered with health?
Well, got as far as Veteran Act 4 Part 2 (the one where you wait for the bridge to unfold), without having to "grind". But think I am going to have to go back and replay some previous levels, because 4.2 is just an endless stream of pyrovores. maybe the trick is to have a couple of gravity guns, and just run across without stopping to kill anything? Question: when grinding, do you get better cards/ more xp on veteran levels than normal ones? So far, the veteran cards just seem to be about the same as the ones I was getting on the normal level. I got 5(!) assault marines in a row.
When you say cards, do you mean the loot results at the end of the mission? Or do you mean the packs of cards you get from RPs? I only ask because you mentioned assault marines which come from packs, not loot.
Oh I hadn't noticed that marines only come in the packs. I meant the loot at the end of the mission, or the pack at the end of the act. Is the end-of-act pack re-awarded if you replay the final part of the act?
No, you are rewarded it only the first time you complete an act, for every difficulty. At heroic you get 15 RP per mission, so it's easier to get packs (you can 'buy' a pack for 100 RP).
I wouldn't use gravity guns beyond normal difficulty (and honestly not even then). Rather try using a few plasma weapons that you can overcharge to take out high health enemies. Having a stun grenade or two doesn't hurt either for when you come across a high damage unit you just can't finish that turn. Equally as useful are damage negation items, which allow you to turn a marine into a damage sponge for a turn. Often on any particular stage there are only 1 or 2 "bad" turns you need to survive through in order to set-up and maximize you offensive abilities the following turn.
I blew through Veteran, and actually think it was easier than Normal due to my equipment and improved tactics. The only real threats are "big" units, and if you base your squad around taking care of them the rest can be chewed through relatively fast. Other than a few stun-type grenades, my units carry only items that negate damage, improve the whole teams crit chance, increase AP, and of course, First Company Relics, which increase damage 100% versus large units. You generally only fight a few large units in a single map, and using overcharge on plasma weapons with increased damage and crit, nothing in Veteran took more than 2 shots to down. As for smaller units, long distance weapons with decent volleys and crit do best. Melta weapons are ridiculously underpowered compared to equivalent rarity weapons of other types. Too many creatures have high range to make short distance weapons other than melee worth while. Urus' Word blot pistol is a good example of a small unit cleaner, with 8 range, 40% crit, and 300% crit damage. Even on Heroic it takes most small units out in 1-2 shots, and it's range allows you to snipe Guards and other annoying units. On normal you can pretty much get away with anything. However, Veteran requires a little more min-maxing, and Heroic a lot more. Unfortunately much of this comes from luck of the draw with what units/weapons/items you pull from packs. Beyond that though, grinding is pretty much a necessity and as soon as you have respectable accuracy, you need to improve crit. So much of the later game revolves around getting those crits.
When are the enemies belonging to the"huge units" category (so you can use the 1st company relic)? I had no trouble on veteran but it get's more tough now on heroic when even "medium" units have 1500-2500hp and you are facing a couple of them at once...
The loot cards get better in heroic. As you say veteran doesn't seem much better than normal; but it actually does have a chance of t4 items. Heroic has good chance of t3 and average chance of t4 If you want a good loot table, we all contributed to one. Think there's a link on lickzy's signature.
I've looked and probably being special but can't find a popular gaMes wiki site. I'd like to start one for deathwatch as there's some diamond advice from you guys Too hard to find on here. (Can't use Wikipedia for games it says)
