    I'm sorry to interrupt the discussion about RNG and packs and whatever but I wanted to share an epic moment for me.

    At Act 6-4 heroic AT LAST I finally fully skilled and 3-slotted all my team...last one being the only tier 4 in my team, Bishop the Sanguinary Guard who took forever (it was last addition to the team) to get the 30K points necessary...and previously he died at 18K and 22K (gutting, let me tell you).
    I can now play a bit more aggressively to complete the campaign on heroic, not caring anymore about the XP loss.

    Can't wait to complete the campaign and then strart using the other marines I've unlocked (I have another tier 4 unused).
    My codex is looking pretty good....almost all items and almost all marines, BUT the tier 4 and some minor ones.

    Sometimes I think I'll play Deathwatch forever :)

    I wish XP were a bit higher on Heroic...like around 5-8K per marine instead of 2-3K as it is now (without grinding).
    This would mean you could have the most expensive skill with 5-6 consecutive succefully missions without dying....something not really trivial in heroic.
    If that was the case, grinding (which I'm not too hot on) would be a non issue and an incentive to play and fully unlock all your marines.
    Maybe this could happen after heroic campaign completion...a sort of XP gained amplifier.

    Back playing!!!!

    This will be your next Tier 4 pack. I hope you like Honor Guards. Let us know when you get it

    Ahh I see. No, it wasn't a calculation or hytaphetical. It was physically 2,000 packs opened. Took ages. It wasn't about trying to get a marine. It was more about the principle of the matter. No one seems to take responsibility or acknowledge that looping packs are an issue for some (maybe all). I'm sure then rodeo guys have more pressing issues to fix but I don't like the idea that something is unfair.

    I don't have, or want to use, that save but I'll ask for it and post a screenshot or video up.

    @Lickzy:
    Yes I realised that was next - I'd already looked up my next pack based on your previous pulls :)
    I will open that pack just to confirm I'm in the same set/loop of predictable packs, but will stop getting packs after that.
    Thank you.

    If you don't mind me asking, how many packs do you think you've opened? I wonder if you're right and there is a point at which the RNG can become predictable/loop for certain seeds.
    I'm not sure but think I've opened 400.

    @Pitta: I found 3-slotting everyone incredibly handy as it means you have space for equipment to handle those moments when it goes wrong or to give you more bursts of damage/AP.

    @inuse

    2000 packs opened?
    Wow, you'd almost need to bot that!

    Please post a video - the number of marines and equipment must be hilarious.

    How many of the other T4 marines did you get?

    There's other line wild and honor guard variations that are still part of the same pack loop. You'll spot when they start to come up

    Boting is way too advanced. It's been hours of work. The inventory system is the slowest part of the process. I know it's stupid and a waste of time because neither of us would use that save. It was just a theory that was interesting to investigate.

    About 140 t4 marines and double that amount of t4 items. Stopped counting after a while. Also had to keep deleting everything for space for new ones. But I'll post a video.

    Right now the gameplay looks to be heavily imbalanced towards AP gain setups. It's possible to complete most Heroic levels with the Lone Wolf squad in 1 or 2 turns. Multiplayer will have to be a totally different game because right now whichever player got the first move would win. The HP gain from leveling is irrelevant when you're getting hit with a critting Powerfist.

    I think the devs could consider a stacking accuracy or damage drop off as you stack more AP in a single turn because it is very OP atm.

    I was having a blast with Deathwatch. Great tactical play and I love the variety in the marines. After going so far as making a spreadsheet to track my little Brothers, I decided to take the plunge and buy 30 packs.

    Seeing the debate on the pack RNG here I thought I'd share some results.

    Before packs: 29 marines, 21 unique marines, 6 T3s, 4 unique T3s, 1 T4: Lone Wolf
    After packs: 59 marines, 29 unique marines, 13 T3s, 4 unique T3s, 4 T4s: Lone Wolf, Lone Wolf, Lone Wolf, Lone Wolf.

    You'll note that the number of T3s and T4s went up by 2x and 4x respectively, but the number of uniques for each stayed the same. (My single most common marine is the SW T3 Dev: 5.)

    I understand you can and will get duplication with RNG, and I feel shallow for it, but this I found this very disappointing. Plus just hard to beleive: the "streakiness" of the RNG not just with the T4, but him *and* the T3s.

    (Also: Does DW have a "restore purchases" function like I've seen on other games to restore IAP? I'd gladly sacrifice my campaign progress for another "roll" of the marine dice.)

    @Tarquelne
    No 'restore purchases' I'm afraid; its not cloud-saved either so back up your ipad and don't delete the game :-(

    You've actually done very, very well out of that pack: 4 lone wolves is a truly great team.
    I'd hold off buying more IAP until Rodeo Games resolves this though (which hopefully will be very soon) in case you just get more lone wolfs! Then you would be kicking yourself.

    @inuse/lickzy did you only get lots of these lone wolves after the 1.1 update?
    For me it felt as though that update completely changed my packs: They went from being heavily blood angel-centric to orbiting planet space-wolf

    I'm envious. Early in the normal campaign, I pulled a Lone Wolf and a Long Fang Ancient before I appreciated how rare T4 Marines are. Now I'm on heroic, and I've only pulled an Honor Guard and another Long Fang Ancient since then. No T4 Blood Angels whatsoever. And even though I have 3 T4 Space Wolves, my Space Wolves side of the codex is only about half full.

    The Lone Wolf is a one man wrecking machine. With the Oath of Immortality, the Saga of the Ironwolf and the +15% melee buff item, he's more than capable of taking on the biggest of enemies especially now that charge works properly. Combine him with a fully tricked out Long Fang Ancient and I sometimes feel the other marines are just there for filler. It seemed like the two wolves handled almost everything in Veteran M9A4.

    On veteran Act 2 scene 1, game is stuck on enemies moving... Same situation if I quit and reload. So what are my options here? Quit and lose all unspent XP?

    Thats exactly what happened. I had a half dozen Stern Guards or more, 2 Sanguinary whatchamacallits and a Sanguinary priest with one Lone wolf. Post patch I got like 10 Lone wolf, 5 long fangs, 5 Honor guards.

    To answer your earlier question, 300 or more packs

    I appreciate that the LWs are powerful and rare ... ish. (Seems to be famine or flood.) But, yeah, I'll definetly wait to see if there's something to be fixed in the RNG. Unfortunately, I was already well supplied with T3 Assault marines.

    The odds of pulling only LWs and no further unique T3s are hardly astronomical - it could simply be poor luck. And the total number of T3s and T4s seems great. (Almost 1/3 of the marines I've drawn are T3 or 4.) But I will hold off on any more purchases until Rodeo weighs in on the "looping" thing. I didn't notice any duplicate packs, but I'm loathe to spend more money for more of the same marines. I'm also not going to spend any RP.

    For the T1 and T2 marines, btw, the diversity was fine. If not "great."

    Re: Chapters - I got most of the packs post-patch (this is even before the purchase.) About 1/2 are Space Wolves. Oh, hell, I've got the spreadsheet: Space Wolves constitute exactly 50% of the marines gained via packs.

    Several people have asked, but I can't find any responses...does anyone know what the Charmed Chrono wargear does? I have tried having it equipped on one of my guys, but I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Thanks in advance :)

    Also, if anyone knows of, or wants to create a guide, that would be immensely helpful for some of us newbies. Scouring the 250+ page forum for Deathwatch on TA is pretty dense for just wanting to look up strategies or team builds.
    Thanks again if anyone can help :D

    No one has been able to give an answer yet as to what it does. Haven't seen anything change while I've had it equiped either.

    A guide would be a great idea. Anyone know if there's something like wikiguide page for games that we could contribute to?

    You can try squeezing the screen with four fingers and thumb to close app (iPad Air). Wait a couple of seconds. Press app icon on home screen to reboot- it usually resumes. Pinching and releasing before it closes the app sometimes works also. If it doesn't, do it again a few times. Don't quit the mission as will lose XP for whole crew of marines. Failing that, when it hangs, press home key once to get home screen, then double tap it to get apps running, then swipe out Deathwatch to kill app. Now restart with app icon- it should go to game splash screen then resume at previous move. Someone else said if you restart it and pinch zoom to the enemy it can fix it? Never tried that. Otherwise you can send save game to rodeo games who will fix it. Above methods have always worked for me though.
