6+ Current iOS version, deleted app and reinstalled because all missions would lock up on enemy movement phase. Lost my named veteran with cool armor and the epic axe. But unlocking and ransoms are awesome. No sweat off my back. Still sad. One questions: if you get the same type of marine / card - can they have different stats or abilities? Or is it universal with different names?
No iCloud? (I'm wary to play any game that revolves around collecting, or just any expansive game with heavy progression, if I cannot ensure my saves are backed up.)
I am just through the tutorial. Can't figure out over watch. I have marines that cannot use over watch even after a single move??? Are there restrictions other than having enough AP for a shot? Also is there a way to find out in game how much AP shooting would cost? I like it a lot so far, although the line of sight rules are a bit strange - why can't you see the alien just behind another alien, why can't you shoot from behind your comrades... Different from XCOM, takes some time to get used to.
If it's anything like Hunters, OW takes (1) AP to enable, PLUS however many AP's the equipped weapon requires to use.
I spent $36 for the top tier card pack IAP to support game immediately. Big fan of Warhammer universe and also Rodeo Games. My feedback: iCloud support, especially as more progress is made and as we invest a lot of time, we are locked into 1 device and risk of losing it all... A quick move option or 2x speed toggle at least for enemy turn. I feel game is a bit slow overall. More enemy types, I spend easily 100 hours on these types of games and 10 enemy types sounds a bit low. Enemies fire off from long distance and game doesn't zoom out enough to show what got hit. Biggest hinderence to trying new heroes is the very steep XP cost for skills and passives. I feel this is counter to enjoying game because we spend so much time to unlock this and then may need to start a new hero (exp doesn't carry over which is sad) why not have a account based exp that can be spent on any new hero, that way spending 100 hours in game allows us to start using new heroes quicker- isn't that the idea to allow more fun faster?
Anyone else got a "Charmed Chrono" wargear and what does it do apart from "this does something mysterious"?
NASTY BUG WARNING! I made a $2.99 IAP for 2 packs a few minutes ago. It asked me for my password, which I entered, then I got Apple's "purchase confirmation" dialog box, which I accepted, then got the "successful purchase" box. I was then at the main menu screen, and it showed I had 2 unopened packs. I'm at work, and I needed to tend to something immediately after the purchase, so I pressed the lock button. About 5 minutes later, I unlocked my phone, was met by the Deathwatch loading screen, and the packs were gone. I didn't have any new items nor characters. My 2 packs and $2.99 disappeared into thin air. I love Rodeo Games', played the hell out of the Hunter games and WQ, but this bug is pretty unacceptable guys. Makes me weary of how safe my save games are, especially with the lack of iCloud support.
I wonder what the length of this game really is if you eliminated 2/3 of the time for enemy turns. Also I'm pretty sure they will release DLC enemy packs the same way they did in Warhammer Quest, which isn't a bad idea since they usually involved extra maps, and a new warrior. Account based XP would be awesome, but then again would eliminate the grind needed to extend playtime.
I know someone kind of commented here, but i dont know if its a fair comparision. Xcom was console first then ported. This is really a mobile game so its a bit different. My beef with xcom was sometimes it was hard to control guys here and there even though the game is awesome and has a ton of overall polish. This game is slightly less polished, but an awesome game in its own right and from my limited experience so far, the controls feel really good. in short i wouldnt compare the 2; i would enjoy both. I am a turn based game guy who loved xcom and am currently enjoying this game.
I know, work seriously gets in the way of my gaming time. I finished the prologue over my lunch break today. Looooong load times on my iPad Mini 2. Really need to upgrade. Pulled an Apothecary as my free drawing. Not super powerful but pretty happy except I need to get him levelled up. I see tons of potential for expansion. Want to get into the real campaign soon.
Wait I have to buy the game then buy card packs for characters? Will gladly dump money into a game but hate upfront cost + micro transactions. Unless I'm missing something I'll stick with xcom. Edit: before I'm told to read the first couple of pages, I did. it's being stated that card packs are unlocked as you play, not that gear and characters are unlocked. And that is a completely different thing all together, you could in theory play the game repeatedly and never unlock it all because of rng on card packs. So to me that makes this game not a premium experience, but a chance for a premium experience. I understand why this was done but personally would rather have bought this at a higher price point to know that I had access to all of the content. If I'm completely misjudging this I would love to have my mind swayed.
I am very anti micro transactions. To the point of getting rid of games that have them with exception of Cardinal Quest 2. If you get them here you are literally taking the fun out of completing missions and playing the game. This is the smartest IAP system that I have seen. I am so stoked they got rid of in game currency and went with the card pack motto. It's awesome. The lack of cloud saves is what would worry me. But by playing the game again you just get the fun of unlocking things after missions again.
These Marines honoured their Chapters. Just completed the game. Freaking amazing, already restarted on hard.
I thinks you may be over-analyzing a $5 purchase here. While I completely get your point, Rodeo has a very solid reputation, and if you've played any of their other games, they'd have your trust as far as IAP implementation goes. So far I've only played a handful of missions, and I haven't even noticed the IAP, and it seems more like a cheat at the moment. Very similar to Warhammer Quest in terms of IAP fairness to me, sure there's a grind, but what's looting and leveling without a little grind? Oh, and the game plays very differently then XCOM, which is my personal favorite TBS. But this is a different experience altogether, a very worthwhile one from what I've seen so far, and unquestionably premium.
How long did it take you? And how fair did you find the loot/reward system to be? I ask not as a prospective buyer, but as a paying customer who's just beginning the game and would love to hear your input/opinion. From what I'm seeing so far I'm guessing the rewards are fair but the game's length is a mystery to me.
Think people are going OTT about the IAPs. I haven't bought any. They're a bit like a quick cheat if you're struggling. Haven't seen any signs of a paywall. Would say the IAPs are just for people who want a quick start. Please don't asssociate these IAPs with the stereotypical ones in other games
Well done, Brother Pitta. The Emperor is pleased! But remember: We can slay the Tyranids on our worlds and we blast their fleets from space. But their hunger? That is beyond our ability to slay!
@MathewRodeo Another room for improvement:the game restarted 1-2 times after i switched my ipad on again (from standby of course. No other apps running). Since the initial loading time of this game is quite long (even on Air 2 ) i hope you can fix it. The cam is also a bit nervous, the game was clearly made for playing the top down view and the environment often enough blocks the view in iso perspective.Quite a bit of manual adjustment is necessary. Not a dealbreaker of course,i'm just happy to have it.In fact, that was my most important point for the buying it By the way,i really can't say that the enemy moves slow.I never have to wait unusual long until i can make my own move again. On Air 2 at least...
