If a four finger and thumb pinch done a few times after the hang doesn't work, or restarting etc, and if each time you play this scenario it hangs-

    *spoiler*

Don't send your marines straight forward to meet the first Hive guard- creepy crawl all your marines to the right along the wall and then up to where the hive mind is. when I've done this it doesn't hang.

    Frostbite

Repeated from an earlier post... Has anyone found a Frostbite, either from a mission or from a card packs.

Hundreds of packs opened and beaten the game on heroic more than once and have never seen it.

If you've got one, please post here.

Your experience is a really nice one to read.
It's nowhere near to mine regarding the marines (I'm playing the game since over a month and put around 60 hours in the final version so far) but shows that RNG is just that, RNG.
Personally (it's obvious I love the game as it is) I like the RNG for loot a lot, but I'm still not that sold so far about marines.
Comparison with Hearthstone is unfair, this is not a CCG.
This is not because I'm a completionist, but because I would like to form the squad I want.
Maybe Rodeo just thought the game differently from what I perceived at first, and playing the game with what you get from the chapters is the way they intended the game to be played.
It makes even sense in the setting of the game.
More important than how long the game is been out is how many hours one played it.

As for paid packs I totally agree, including the fact that iaps aren't necessary at all to complete the game (as always in Rodeo games, I would like to add).
I can see why some people would think that, as they pay for iaps, they feel they should be entitled with 'higher drops'.
But this is wrong for many reasons and Rodeo, in the game, is pretty clear that the only thing you buy is the possibility of things to happen.
The only thing entitled here is a tier 2 drop.
So no matter how much you spend, you can always end with tier 2 weapon and basic stuff/marines.
If you do not like this, just don't buy; it's simple.

I must have missed something tough, how do you get 4 packs per hour???

I agree about the marines. It would be great for abilities to be equipped, maybe with level requirements...but i guess the multiplayer demands something else. I'm not too into the multiplayer because I like story so that's a lesson for me about game dynamics. I bought a set of packs because I wasn't interested in grinding do for better marines I would get later. I'm a teacher on summer break and won't really have time for this during the school year.

I should be clear, my 2.5 weeks is not a casual gamer's same 2.5 weeks - more like 6-8. Unfortunately I can get fairly hardcore when I play some games and I did put a lot of hours into this one so far. The point was more what I could amass in a fairly short time since release.

The comparison to Hearthstone is solid. In a CCG you're collecting 'cards' to make a deck to beat AI/opponents. In Deathwatch you're collecting marines/loot to make a squad to beat AI/opponents(future). The semantics are not really worth arguing over, but the actions a person puts in to achieve end results are identical. I probably put twice as much time into Hearthstone and achieved far less success in terms of getting all the 'cards'. That's why I quit because I couldn't see the end of that one unless I put in months and months of grinding. Plus it was frustrating because you know you can advance faster if only you have better cards (chicken and egg).

IAP is here to stay unfortunately but many companies do it wrong - aka Gameloft. At least the implementation here you can complete all the content without having to have certain units/items. The fact that you WANT that Master of Relics is different from NEEDING him. Rodeo is running a business and IAP makes sense. Time will tell if their implementation of it made the best sense. The only problem I see here is the possibility of identical packs or never being able to complete the codex. Rodeo should definitely run simulations to be sure how many packs would be necessary to complete a codex and if there are duplicates. Opening 150 packs and seeing what percentage of the codex you get is not enough due diligence, you need to reach a specific number of packs to achieve 100% completion (or at least 100% of non-farmable items). Because there is no crafting or trading you have to get this number right or you will get a lot of grumbling like what is happening now.

Running 2.4 with all AP gain items can net you 19 RP per 2 min. This is pure grinding, but it's easy to do while watching a show or something.

Comparing it to any other game is a moot point. You'll always find something worse or something better.

The only fair assessment is to judge on what's happening in this game. If you weight up your chances of rolling the squad you'd like to play on here it can very easily cost you £100s. Do I think that's fair? No.

That's without going into the arguement of if the rng is working as intended.

    Don't have one.
It's in my list of few impossible items to find:
    Frostbite
    Master of relics

There's a couple of others but nothing I care about / want to use

Why would you want everything unlocked from scratch without even playing the game?

Why would you assume everyone's goal is to have each and every item or marine?

The goal isn't just to check every item on the list, it's not a panini album or stamp collecting.

The game is tailored to be hard enough to present a challenge, so that you sweat during each difficulty, and sometimes you fail. Then you try again and you succeed.
What I find most interesting is to deal with what you have and adapt your play style to it. What's the point of storming though normal with Tier 4 space wolves?

I played normal with tier 1 and 2 marines and I had a great time. I was very happy getting my first Tier 3 marines and some good gear.
I'm finishing veteran with tier 3 and am just getting my second tier 4 marine and it's still a challenge.
I now have enough marines to try full chapters squads, which means a lot of new things and interactions to discover.
I played at least 20 hours, and had a lot of entertainment for just 4.99€

To buy packs is completely unnecessary to enjoy and finish the game.
As seen in previous posts, the game is actually pretty generous with packs.
If it's the business model that allows Rodeo Games to continue and add content, they are smart enough to adapt to a changing market.

Nobody has to buy packs here.
if some people want to spend hundreds on it to get a few cards checked on their list, good for them to pay for everyone else, me included.
    So thank you! ;)

Ok, here's one for the panel... I'm just about to restart on normal with a totally fresh squad to level things up for some balance. Act 1.1 is greyed out, I can't click on it to play it. Anyone else encountered this?

Great commentary... You have admittedly spent no money on IAP. Sweet! Rodeo is generous on packs. Also Sweet!

For those who have spent money it is very disappointing to discover that the RNG is potentially busted and players can never actually complete the codex. That's for completionists of course, and those who wish to spend money.

Money you can always get back. You can work more, save more. Money can always be appropriated.

Why do most people spend money? It saves time. Time is a finite resource. No amount of money can buy back a single second. It cannot be re-appropriated. This is the issue.

It is one thing to waste your money in hopes of accomplishing an impossible task, it is A whole other ball of wax to spend your time on a fruitless endeavour.

If my money can't complete my codex and my time cannot either... I probably shouldn't waste either on playing this game... Beyond its intended purposes of completing all 3 difficulties

I think that it is really weird how the RNG is perceived.

I am currently in the middle of Veteran playthough and have bought 34 packs of IAP and have only ever drawn Tier IV marines in packs that I paid money for.

I have only 3 but they are the Lone Wolf and 2 Master of Relics. Seems I am not lucky at pulling lots of Tier IVs but when I do, get a good one ;)

It is also odd that I hardly pulled any SW or UM pre the update, but hardly seen any BA lately and had some decent cards since 1.1

You've completely misunderstood. Not saying I want to collect everything. Couldn't give a hoot about things I don't intend to use.

My issue is that at the moment it's not possible for me to get a couple of items / marines I'd like to play with. This wouldn't be a huge deal if it was just dropped items (maybe it would be because I'd have wasted time on something with no possibility), what I object to is paying for cards that aren't possible for me to get.

I've completed the game through twice and love it. Would like to try again but use an um team with a master of relics. It's not fair on customers to allow them to purchase (or even spend time grinding) for items / marines that can't appear.

Agreed. This game is SLOW...it is extremely replayable...every time you replay scenes there are different angles and lighting effects...you could play for months, completing with different tiered marines and equipment, gradually getting the ones you like through drops or spending a bit of cash. I think one problem people are having with this game is that it's not like an arcade game or even a play-through-once turn based shooter...and with an RNG you're gonna have to get ALOT of drops or IAPs to get everything- that's half the fun! I haven't spent a penny more and have three tier 2s, three tier 3s and one tier 4 (haven't even played that one yet).

Sorry but throwing hundreds of dollar into a random lottery machine looks like an addiction to gambling for me.Everyone should have known before that there is a V.E.R.Y high chance of not getting everything you want even after spending many many $$ for packs. No matter how exactly the RNG works.

Maybe the codex was a mistake,it seems a pain for completionists to look at it so...unfinished.

You sound even a little childish with your "i shouldnt waste either on playing ths game"

This game has a lot of RPG elements and it would be funny to say that about a real RPG.Stop playing because you don't get all the loot you want...

The loot I want to go get is impossible to obtain. Care to watch a video showing me opening identical packs after 170 unique packs?

Frustrating to pay and grind only to be destined for failure.

Regardless, I'll see you on the killing fields when multi player launches ; )

I just received Frostbite from a pack. Dmg 55-67. Don't know if it matters, but it came with a t1 BA tactical and t1 hand flamer.

Strictly from my own experiences, I'm prob at somewhere between 150-200 packs opened, I haven't kept track. I don't usually bank the RP, so I normally open a packs as it comes. I have so far not encountered the all t1 pack bug. I can not recall getting identical packs, but its possible it's happened.
For the t4 marines, i've pulled 7 out of the 9 possible from 11 total t4 pulls. Missing both Devastators. Oddly enough, also have not found t3 UM devastator either.
Again this only for reference to someone else's play through. Been playing since release.
