I think Rodeo has applied this system or RP and RNG with IAP after learning from WQ.

With WQ they could only ever recieve a limited amount of money from each individual player. I for one purchased every WQ IAP day 1, but then never spent money again, to "the tail" was not that long for them. Basically making bank In the first week or 2 of release then nothing until the next content pack.

For DW they have gone in a different direction, where "the tail" should be a lot longer, great for them, but not for us. Where this a $0 game, with adds on the loading screens then the IAP system would fit right in (put an add removal IAP for $5 and they would have had an even higher chance of success).

Whilst I respect those that put hundreds into card packs, that's not for me. Unfortunately for me im the person who wants to know what I'm getting when I hand over money, and I want to know it's going to enhance my gaming experience (Irongut was so fun). But this system, the way it is currently, is built for the Whales.

So I'll keep playing for a while, but I'll never get to pick the perfect team, or try multiple approaches, and never enjoy the benefits of a full team of T4's. So in reality I'll get bored quickly and WQ will still be on my phone long after this is gone.

Edit: I played Space Wolf for a while too, but it essentially suffered from the exact same problem as this game, and it's gone now too.

I'm running a 5 Space Wolves team to finish veteran (I got to start 8.2, a bit worried about it lol). :D
    The crew consists in:
My only one and recent TIer IV, the long fang ancient devastator that I'm nurturing to be my next big game killing machine.
2 Tier III, a devastator and the amazing Tactical Jon The Cub Snow aka Xenos mower with his tier IV bolted Gelure.
2 Tier II, one assault and one tactical.

They were incredible in 8.1, killing maybe 20 Xenos in one turn at the beginning.
I'm grinding a bit so they may continue with low XP and die honorably but cheaply for their chapters in 8.2 :p

I opened a few packs and got now enough marines to run full chapters of level II and up.
This could be fun, as each chapter has his own advantages and special weapons.
Not sure if I would play specific missions to grind gear and weapons I don't have, or do a full play in veteran. :?

And thank you Rodeo, I haven't played another game since the release, Deathwatch is my summer game!

No apps running a hard reset. On a 6+ that isn't a good excuse. This is the same issue with the camera getting screwed up that is listed as being fixed in the patch notes.

I haven't beat the main campaign because it always happens on 8.3

I have stopped playing because I have lot so much XP from having to restart missions locked in enemy turns.

Act 2 'Regroup' mission on heroic.

I regrouped in the middle of the bridge (big mistake) neglecting over watch (big mistakes never come alone).

I was pinned down there for half an hour (real time).
They were EVERYWHERE, and the swarm never ceased.
I think I had like 20 constant enemies in my line of sight (much more judging by the constant alien disturbing noises).
When I finally broke through towards the extraction points I activated EVERYTHING I had....grenades, crit/damage/AP modifiers.
I had to walk over cadavers and cadavers. Blood everywhere.
    And everyone made it.

    It was GLORIOUS.

Speed is of essence on Heroic, brother Pitta. Act III taught me that, in a hard way

Yours are words from wisdom, brother Birth.

    I literally couldn't move.
Usually I keep the assault marines in the front but made a mistake and they were trapped in the tail of the formation (bridge is narrow).
Plus I didn't have enough range to cover the other bridge.
Took me forever to kill all the aliens with the guns (fast replaced by others) with my devastator who made it with less than 20% HP (he had over 15K XP so I was a bit nervous).

    Lesson learnt.

That really sucks. If you send them your save file maybe they can sort it out.

    I basically broke the game...

Party of 5 Lone Wolves, each with a Fenrisian Axe or Frostskull's Strength and Medusa Plasma Pistols. 100% Accuracy and 9 Sagas....

I am cruising through Heroic like a boss.

Whats the big fuss about the person posting the exploit? Its not as if he post about a way to get all cards for free lol or how to crack the IAPs free etc. He bought the game, if he want to smash it, beat it, burn it, go ahead, its his choice. Should he post it publicly? Its not the above type of exploit, and should researchers post publicly about security flaws instead of privately to companies? Like jailbreak must not be condone..
He could have privately share with other people, but posting this public can also highlight to dev to fix next time.

And, you read it, want to use? Fine, dont wish to use such exploit? Fine, just move on..

Its just a game. Sorry for the rant

And to reiterate, this game can be completed without purchasing any iap packs.
those who have issues with the rng iap are likely those who are completionists, or wish to add variety / choose their fave team, replayability etc. Thus, like what one suggested, a iap for the specific marines etc is a good idea, else its prob going to be a free flow of purchasing. $$$

In enemies turn, sometimes the camera doesnt pan to the fight scene or center on the area where fight is taking place or where a xeno has move and land right next to ur marine, or the pan is slow, camera arriving after xenos already shot dead.
I guess this is a device speed issue

Love your descriptions, Pitta. Keep 'em coming.

    You ain't whistlin' dixie, Birth.

Do not dawdle on Heroic. If you can run past an enemy and get to your objective, do so.

Can someone tell me what is so special about the tier 4 pain suppressant ?
80% damage mitigation is great but it only lasts for 1 turn?

You can go in front of the Carnifex and block him for a whole turn.

Which can be the difference from life and death.

But i recall there was another... Tier 2, 100% mitigation... It was a medal. Was wondering why rhe tier 2 would be more effective thantier 4

Wait... No, sorry....that was tier 3, oath of immortality, 100% damage mitigation until next turn
    Vs
Tier 4, pain suppressant "passive: 80% damage mitigation for 1 turn"

Wondering why tier 3 is better

I've updated but encountered the freeze whilst enemy moving bug again. Very frustrating!

iPad Mini 2, latest OS, latest version of Deathwatch.

    Act 2, Mission 1. Veteran.

Any advice? I can send my save file if that helps?

Have tried the panning around, pinch to zoom etc but nothing works.

I think usually war gear seems less effective than seals. After that, it's just a matter of what you have in stock.

I love sending an assault marine with a powerful fist in the middle of the melee critters.
Activate oath, it will last during his turn and enemy's turn, then just watch him kill everyone just by retaliating :)
It also serves as a powerful decoy to lure huge beasts, leaving you one more turn to kill them.

    This doesn't end well

Whole team wiped out in 8.4 veteran :(
I used as a noob all my buffs before the 2 hive tyrants with 90% damage mitigation spawned. Tried to go around but was overwhelmed by the critters.

    Any idea on the strategy?
