Can someone who doesn't know anything about the Warhammer universe/lore/series enjoy this? Would a non fan care and enjoy it?

There's no prior knowledge requirement, you can get stuck in an enjoy.

I was monitoring NZ releases too....but besides DeathWatch almost nothing seems out.

Recently the AppStore is really weird.

I always thought they just should have worldwide release and not that timeline nonsense.
So people won't be glued to their devices till impossible late hours.

00:42, no Deathwatch in WQ or Hunters associates yet.
I'll sleep on it and get this one tomorrow.
Thanks Rodeo Games (and Pitta!) for the hype train on Twitter in the last few weeks ;)
If I play it even half as much as Warhammer Quest, it's my game for the summer \o/

    Edit : 0830 downloading 4.99€ well spent I figure. :D

    After playing the intro levels...

This is basically Hunters 2 (but with added monetisation, in place of in-game character and weapon shops).

There's no reason that anyone couldn't enjoy it equally.

The only way you can gain new marines / troops is now by buying card decks (1 marine, two pieces of wargear per deck). 100 of ingame currency buys one deck (I'm currently earning 6/level), £2.29 for one deck, £10.99 for 5. Not too keen on that approach - I prefer God-honest IAP (pay this, get that) and atm there's no content unlocks / DLC.

I do like the look of where it's going. Each marine has a fair few slots that I've yet to unlock (can't remember what they do / what they're called, off the top of my head, but they're over and above wargear - abilities that will unlock with levelling, I presume).

It's quite heavily reliant on over watch / keeping angles covered / managing action points atm. I started out thinking "hmmm, bit slow with potential for swift repetitiveness." But it's grown on me fast.

That noted, I found hunters 2 fell flat for me, once I'd got most of my characters decently levelled / equipped. Will be interested to see if this has the same lastability as WH Quest, on which I've racked up well over 70hrs.

Ah. Abilities (*2), traits (*3), and wargear (*3) slots, per marine. [edit - ok, normal marines get one ability, vets get two]

Weapons / wargear (perhaps characters?!) also winnable post-mission.

And, erm, different classes (and qualities) of marine. Can def get veterans, which are different from bog standard (better upgrade trees, apparently). Tactical, destroyer, medics have all appeared in my group of five. [edit - veteran appears to be a class. Like destroyer / assault / tactical]

They're a pretty facked up group of chapters, too. I've got space wolves fighting alongside ultramarines and blood Angels, which is a bit lulwut.
