Took the plunge and purchased it, wish now I had not. I cannot get the game to load, it freezes in loads of different stages. I have got to the start screen a few times, start game and settings are always unresponsive. Once it showed on the start screen a rounder with The Founders first blood edition.
It's just 'cheaper'. Apparently the idea is that people will pay once and get everything added from that point on included. However, the catch is that with every new patch/expansion, the game's price will go up by $1. Thus the Founder's Edition is supposed to incentivize consumers to buy now for the discount and hope that the game continues to receive support.
Signing out of Gamecentre seems to solve the issues of game crashing on loading and not starting. This worked fine afterwards on my iPad Air and iPod Touch 5 th gen.
I do really want this but I'm moving home and could put the money to better use....even on the App Store I could get more for my money but doesn't stop me wanting it : (
The developer of Warhammer 40,000: Carnage needs desperately to put their marketing team on charge. First the developwr launches Founder's Edition at a high price in limited App Stores, so most people can't buy it when the usual sites cover its launch. Then they expect to raise prices on each update so that when they finally deign to release it worldwide it will be at a ridiculously high price with zero coverage? The closest example of an app that had successfully pulled this off was Slitherine with their Battle Academy. That succeeded due to the niche nature of their game, casual turn-based historical gamers. Carnage is just an action game. So good luck and hire a real marketing guy.
I mean it doesn't bother me as I'm on the UK store but they should have just released the English version worldwide and then added languages after that. I mean from the videos playing the game doesn't exactly look like something you need an instruction book for.
Welp, too bad I won't be getting this. Shame, too, because I always loved the idea of tearing up Orks to bits and pieces (and Swiss cheese with those Bolters) on the go. But since I keep hearing crashing and loading stops from you guys (and others), this seems more of tearing through bugginess than Orks. Shameful mess out of what could be a nice tear 'em up game. And a marketing system like Wayward Souls? ...Yeeeeaaaaaaah, no. Fix the issues first, then we could discuss marketing, or just get a different marketing guy like stated before. Not touching this anymore, no thanks. I'll just go back to WH40K: Space Marine on my PC. At least I can tear up Orks to my heart's content there.
Warhammer Crashing and freezing? I have had no issues at all. I play on my iPad mini, my iPhone 5s and my son plays on iPhone 5. So I have no idea what the complaining is about.
I wrote this review for Slide to Play. Spoiler alert: I actually like it. http://www.slidetoplay.com/review/warhammer-40000-carnage-review/
What's the deep character customization you allude to? There is little to no character customization in the game. You pretty much replace old gear with new gear, there is nowhere near enough item variety to really customize your loadout. I don't think Carnage is a bad game, but it is buggy and shallow for it's price-point. As counter-intuitive as it may seem, I've found that once at the max level of 40, decent loot becomes scarcer than at the lower levels, making it possible to grind 30+ levels and never acquire a single piece of equipment that is an upgrade to whatever you already have. As someone who plays and enjoys a lot of loot collecting games, this is poorly designed and offers little incentive to keep playing once you finish off the two maps for both characters and get to level 40. Even farming stars doesn't do much past a certain point, and you can clear most of the content with a couple of hours of play. Definitely a game that needs some heavy content addition if it wants to achieve any kind of longevity and be deserving of the higher than usual cost of entry.
By customization depth, I am referring to how there are several different catagories of items (range, melee, helmet, chest armor, etc.) that all affect something different about your character. And even within each item, you can upgrade them to further customize and focus on different areas to improve. As for replay, there is quite a bit if you want to 3-star all three modes of each level in the game for both Ultramarine and Blood Angel. Sure you can powergame and probably beat it all in one huge sitting, but my review was written for the average person that does not have to powergame to have fun.
Does anyone know how to make this sync across devices? The first time I installed this on my ipad, it picked up my progress from my iphone. Since then , it won't sync between them. Any ideas?
Hey everyone, I'm stuck on how to earn stars and there is no tutorial on how to do so. I have 35 out of 45 stars and I cant proceed to the next town until I've unlocked 45 stars. But how do you earn stars? Finishing off missions with 3 star ratings has not been increasing it. Edit: Figured it out. After earning a certain amount of stars, it issues you points that go towards progression. You can never tell how many more stars you need as the game never tells you. Basically you have to keep earning stars until it grants you progression points. Still a good game though. Playing it using iCade and blutrol.
I'm playing on a 5S and have not experienced any loading or crashing issues at all. All round awesome game for what it is, tho a tad pricey but worth it to me, none the less. I'm having a blast with it. Def one of my current favs, easily.
