Universal Wardwell House (Horror Game by Moolion)

Discussion in 'iPhone and iPad Games' started by mooliongames, Nov 11, 2015.

  1. I tried on my iPhone also, just to see if it's any different, and I get the same result. Both devices have everything reversed and the only options I see in the menu are "Continue" and "New Game." Is there some special way to hold it?

Whoa that is crazy!!! We never found this when we tested it. Thank you so much for pointing this out :)

Please can you rotate your iPhone or iPad so that the home button is at your right side? That should fix it I think so please let us know. Appreciate your help.

  3. Ah that worked! Thanks! I hold both devices with the home button to the left, and wouldn't have thought to try it the other way, since the game didn't say anything about it. I'd suggest locking the screen that way if you can't get it to work both ways.
I'll give it another go and report back. :)

  4. So, it seems to be working now. The goal is to find all the items in a scene and then the arrows will appear to allow you to continue to the next? Are there any objects you can pick up and use? Or is this the entire game?

I was recording another video, but something went wrong and it didn't record. :/ So I'll have to try again tomorrow. It's getting late here.

Yes, that is the goal. The premise of the game is to find clues to slowly uncover the story of what happened at the island. As the user progresses they should get the feeling that something isn't quite right.

  6. Played again (with the home button on the right) and didn't have any issues. Got my heart racing a couple of times. But I accidentally played the whole game in one sitting. So if you plan to play it, you might just want to watch a few minutes:

SPOILER BELOW"............if you have not got to chapter 3 end

Great unique game so far, is basic in that there are no items to use but its defo one of those games that bring a unique experience, i would reccomend playing in one sitting to get the most out of it and make sure the lights are off. The only gripe i have is that when being chased. By the chainsaw it becomes very difficult to know the way out, as the arrow signs are hardly there, im stuck at that point now and its getting a tad annoying and taking from the game in the sence that its a bit too difficult. I can see what the dev is going for creating desperation but its a lil bit too much? Great game and i personally think its defo worth a try, especially if you like unusual takes on horror games.

Got excited when I saw 'virtual reality' in the app description, but dumbfounded to discover it doesn't have Google Cardboard support??
Watching the video, the game looks like it's it BEEN MADE for VR headsets!
Would be an instabuy for me too, as good VR games are limited on iOS.
Any plans to make it into what it deserves?

Well, got the app and finished it in under an hour I think.
Although short, it's incredibly gripping, and very creepy.
Lots of mystery, and I loved the ending.

As I mentioned already, true VR support would be ideal, and the length of the game would work well with that (as not great to use Google Cardboard for long periods at a time).
I juggle so many apps, games (and Fallout 4 especially) so the length of this actually suited me, as I was able to finish it! :)

when you say "virtual reality" does it mean this is a VR game? using one of those VR headsets? or is it just a standard first person view game with touch controls?

This isn't a VR game. It uses 360 degree panoramic images to create the immersion of virtual reality, but it isn't for VR headsets. Hopefully it will be in the future :)

We would have loved to create Google Cardboard support (or something similar) for the game but it would be hard to create since you wouldn't be able to touch the screen with the device being in the headset.

Cardboard 2.0 has a button on the top which presses the screen. As this app only has one input (touching the screen) I don't see how this would be an issue for Cardboard support. You'd simply hold down the Cardboard button to zoom the view in.
Only issue is with the original Cardboard 1.0, as the button on that was a magnet based one, so would require a different method to work.
I would prob just make it Cardboard 2.0 compatible if you were to do it.

I didn't know about that. Thanks for letting me know! I'll try to see if I can make it Cardboard compatible, although I have no experience working with it so I can't say for certain if I will be able to do so. I'll let you guys know if I do make it compatible though!

ah yes, this game only has one button, which is touch zoom. and the cardboard has MFi to touch the screen (not sure if it works on iphone. never tried it)

so basically. i tried this game trough a couple map. its a simple 360' panoramic screen viewer which is seriously perfect for VR. i did tons of other VR like virtual tokyo that uses this kind of screen. really feels like im there.

the ambience is almost perfect. not too over the top. but really creepy. the small things are indistinguishable from the environment thanks to the black and white effect. and the story (havent completed it yet) have proven to creep me out enough to stop playing in the middle for a bit.

i have to say, i feel like the lack of animation in this game is a big loss. could've really. REALLY creeped me out if that damn black cloth would move randomly because i swear that thing just moved as i looked at it.

so far, this is a very simple. but one of the scariest game ive ever played (jumpscare games doesnt count as scary games for me. more like haunted house pop-ins). even though there's absolutely NOTHING i found so far thats supposed to be scary, im already creeped out. and i have no idea how far im in the game just yet.

i tried mounting it on my cardboard. and the creep factor (with a headphone) went horrifyingly up. if you're going to add VR support. i'll abstain from playing it until you do. cause i really want to get the most of the experience.

    overall. good job!

Thank you kyoukusangagi for the kind words about the game :)

I will try my best to add VR support to the game but I can't guarantee anything right now because I don't even know how to add VR support to it since this wasn't made with Unity

im always a big fan of non-jumpscare horror games. and always want more of these.

and i really hope you find a way to get a VR support for this. even a side-by-side system would be nice.

Wardwell House is on sale now! We have also created a free version to give a taste of what the game is like for people who want to test it out before having to pay.
