Fair enough, my bad for the vague reply about the length. In our tests, the game should take a couple hours to complete. We used panoramas because we wanted to create something new and innovative. Plus, realism was really important for the atmosphere we wanted to create. As you get deeper in the game, I hope you will appreciate our use of panoramic photography because IMHO it adds to creating a sense of dread & horror.
Well, I bought this and I wanted to tell you guys not to waste your money. It's not worth the $3.50 CDN I paid for it. It was a... unique idea, using panoramic scenes for a game, but I don't really think the end result was that great. The writing wasn't that good (actually pretty poor at times), some scenes were pretty obtuse (sometimes you need to examine all of the objects in one "area" to move onto the next scene, while other times you need to examine the same object multiple times, etc.) and the payoff was not worth it (and frankly kind of lame). Not to mention it took me all of 40 minutes from start to finish. Overall I'd save your money and put it into something else this week. Also... I want to say that the game nothing like PT. PT was terrifying; this will maybe make your pulse increase 2 BPM for a span of 10 seconds.
Was PT the game that never came out? I think I have the small demo on my ps4 where you wander down a couple of hallways forever and then it ends with a sort of silly animation... This can't be what everybody is calling terrifying? Can it?
The panoramic is one of the primary selling points for me. The way it slightly warps everything adds a nice dreamlike quality. Kinda like Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
Just finished off the game. It really was quite enjoyable. I don't know if the big reveal at the end hit what the developers were aiming for, but I have to commend them for creating a unique, enjoyable, unsettling and very well thought out game.
Don't think you found everything. You probably just kept walking down the hallway. Go look up a 100% playthrough.
I'm nearly 2 hours and and have to agree with MetalCasket's impressions. Like P.T., it creates a really disturbing atmosphere, mainly because of the realistic scenes you are going through. I always take my time and let each picture sink in for a few minutes, because the pictures alone are simply beautiful. I'm really looking forward to play more of it. It took me a few minutes to get used to the controls, but they work fine for me.
Thank you everyone for your feedback and kind words! We're just 2 brothers who have always loved games that have an atmosphere (Another World, Ico, PT, Silent Hill, etc) and we wanted to create something unique that does not exist in the app store. We have worked very hard for the past several months to create this game and appreciate all your comments.
Also, when we said the game is inspired by P.T., we meant that it uses atmosphere to create an increasing feeling of horror that consumes your mind. We weren't trying to make a clone of it. We tried staying away from jump scares because they are so overused.
Good call on no jump scares, they are lame imo. Atmosphere is where it's at and this game does this nicely. I for one really enjoy the panoramic approach used here, it makes you feel immersed and for me, with the atmosphere, made me a little afraid to turn around in case there was something hidden right out of view. The sound loops are nice tho I wish they were more seamless bc the little breaks take you out of it slightly but I'm just nitpicking. I haven't finished the game yet but I'm enjoying what I've seen so far.
Luv my horror so purchasing, from the description it gives me a blair witch feeling....so diving in, thanks for a unique game dev! More pls
Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss the option to change the settings? Everything is reverse of what it should be and I'm just getting dizzy and confused. I see others are making progress and enjoying it, so what am I missing here? I also gave it to my friend to play around with and she also found it dizzying. Why am I shown the top of the trees when I point my iPad at the ground? Atmosfear used this gyroscope mechanic years ago and I loved it. It was the first game I reviewed on my site. So I had really high hopes for this. But if this is how it's supposed to play, I don't think I can continue. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
That's strange, mine's definitely not reversed, moving the phone down makes you look down. There weren't any options to change the orientation that I noticed either. Hmm
