More descriptions? Anyone know if there is a good resource for better descriptions of upgrades? For example what exactly does 1 more point of armor do? Or what does the damage on a unit mean? It doesn't seem to be DPS, so is it per round of ammo? Wouldn't it then change when upgraded? I'm just looking for more information to make the best choice when upgrading.
For armor, somewhere in this thread Foursaken explained that it is basically a dodge chance (though many players asked for something more in the line of more reliable damage mitigation). For support units, the "damage" number actually does seem to be something similar to a DPS meter for the whole squad. It's not damage per shot, because if you purchase additional units you will see the "damage" increase.
I have a feeling either this afternoon or tomorrow we will get an article on toucharacde about the update, and it goes tomorrow with the typical release date for new games. I'm not part of the company, not a insider, and have no true knowledge. It just makes from sense from what they have said in the last week.
Probably tomorrow. And I wasn't ignoring you on Gamecenter. My Gamecenter has been broken and non functional for months. I updated to 9.3.2 yesterday and Apple finally fixed it. So I just added you and others. Billy
I don't have a problem with ios games being ironed out a bit more after release. nature of the beast, really, and hard to compare big software companies with tiny indie devs. peeps like FM can't afford to sit in beta phases for too long, or manage a beta team. this game was more than up to snuff for an ios release... at this point improvements are just that... improvements. Lots of companies wouldn't even fix all the bugs, let alone fix the bugs, balance more, AND add features post-launch. the only time i judge indie devs harshly about stuff like this is the ones who abuse Early Release on Steam. There's plenty that promise the moon, cash in, support the product for a while with minor content updates (without optimizing their code or fixing core issues), then the whole project becomes abandonware. Dunno the numbers, but I imagine there's far more games that DON'T get completed than do, and plenty of the ones that do aren't truly in a release state, they're just slapped with a "gold" label and shoveled out for an additional payday.
Well, I certainly hope the update is not anti-climatic, and I hope whatever this mysterious "have to wait to release the update" gets FM some serious coin, otherwise they are going to be right up there with Hillary Clinton in the trustworthiness scale.
Wow, harsh. They're being very open about the whole thing, they're saying its a marketing thing, not like they're trying to hide it.
Hopefully the announcement/marketing isn't that they're moving to Nevada because they like the cut of their jib. Update should be out tomorrow. They said Tuesday/Wednesday. I'll be curious if we even hear the marketing side of things.
I can't see why we think we're entitled to it, they've been open to a fault and highly receptive but it doesn't mean we get to be their boss and get to micromanage them in return.
Not so much as anyone being entitled, just good damage control. If they'd never said anything about deliberately delaying the update release, we'd all still be waiting enthusiastically and placing any negativity on Apple. Since they let the cat out of the bag, it is only logical they should explain it once it goes live unless it's so patently obvious why it was delayed no explanation is needed. Otherwise, if people are left scratching their heads as to what was so gosh darned important that the patch was delayed multiple days due to FM's action, that can do nothing but hurt them among the more reactionary types. Not everyone will be happy even if we get an explanation, these are gamers on the internet after all, but, for certain, more people will remain unhappy without one.
basically the difference between game developers and business people. i'll forgive them for not being great business/PR people because they're great devs, but it was a mistake to mention that the update was ready for release and held back for marketing reasons. forget entitlement... plain old disappointment is enough of a motivating factor to not offer up that kind of information. like you said, it was "open to a fault", and you can't really blame people for being disappointed at the decision. It's a reasonable response to the scenario. honestly it's not a big deal. it's a couple of days. we'll all have the update in a day or two and the whole thing will (largely) blow over. it's gonna cost them a bit tho... there's definitely people who used to auto-donate to them who might not now (I'm one of them, simply because I'll happily donate to an indie dev, but i'm less interested in donating to a business). Thankfully, their games are pretty awesome so they'll continue to be just fine if they continue to amaze with their products.
My comment about older games wasn't really directed at FM it was just my opinion overall. Also console games are made up of large teams so I get that. Some devs just think it's cool to release an unfinished game only to fix it later. Like clash Royale. Now there's a large team of devs who did that. They've had to rebalance so many times already its pretty ridiculous to me
Oh I totally agree with that. There's no shortage of games released in a very unpolished state. This one was done enough to be sold as a 1.0 IMO. Which puts them pretty far ahead of, say, Square-Enix.
So apparently their announcement was a release date for a new game called Adventure Company. It looks... uninspired. Looks to be the same engine as monster adventures. I'm not blown away by the gameplay footage or trailer, and it looks similar to too many games I've already played without bringing enough new to the table. Maybe I'm wrong and prejudging it but not really impressed so far. Also unsure why this game's update (and one for H&C2 just dropped) was delayed because of this? Is there more happening?
It's always nice to have cool devs giving us a direct line to the company. Hopefully this delay of expectations will blow over soon.
That's irrelevant. Spending money on a game doesn't entitle you to boss people around. ---- All of you should be happy there even IS an update to give. I highly doubt this is a traumatic experience for anyone. It's their product and they can do what they like with it- it's not your game, it's theirs. You're just playing it. Sorry to have a little rant but I'm just tired of people making mountains out of molehills. This game is great, but life has more to offer than a Foursaken Media game, and I'm sure you could find something else to occupy you for a few days
I haven't seen a lot of bossing around. Just disappointed people saying they're disappointed or don't get the decision to delay. Anyways it should be out sokn and hopefully we'll have plenty of actual game stuff to discuss! Personally expecting everyone to skyrocket through levels, absolutely annihilating their old records.
