I can tell you I maxed out the main machine gun and it was a huge mistake. I got it to level 1000 and I lost all bonus damage. Damage was cut in half. It went from over 10k with the bonus to 5k. Until the update don't max out the machine gun lol What's weird is when I finally tapped and hit level 1000 it said level 1070 and all the green damage bonus just vaporized. But the damage was only about 5k Billy
Wow that sucks Billy. I love the game but I've shelved until the update. I would have been raging if it were me. Lol
Anyone else antsy for this update? I've checked the App Store way too many times to be properly productive...
Ok i'm still upset about this bug. I said it before but I think it was misunderstood so i'll restate it and the new one. 1. Weapon upgrade sometimes does not apply until an additional unit is added. for example, I have three mouse gunners, i purchase a weapon upgrade and there is no visual change (which is ok), but then once I buy another mouse, suddenly one of them has a plasma gun out of nowhere. 2. I just upgraded my biggin' mouse squad's weapon for the second time and another glitch I think happened. My first weapon upgrade gave one of the biggin' mouse a cannon (it made the weapon slower and had a thick barrel), then 400,000 later, I purchase a 2nd weapon upgrade and suddenly both mice have plasma guns? I don't know if this is intended, but i've never seen this happen before with any other unit. Eagerly awaiting update, very excited.
a 1x/2x/4x toggle is something we'd definitely like to explore in a future update. Thats correct. Basically damage upgrades get worse and worse as you progress... they'll scale up significantly in this upcoming update, making ALL perks viable. The idea is that any perk will impact the way you upgrade, and kind of change the way you play. Unfortunately for launch that only applied to the first few hours of gameplay. We already discussed this a while back, I believe. There is one weapon that has the same model as the default rifle, so it will look similar. I assure you its doing extra dps, and if you look has explosive ammo. You can look as the damage value of the squad to make sure your weapons are actually getting upgraded (it will go up after each weapon upgrade). As for the 2nd point, weapon upgrades are random, and certain action force the squad to "recalculate" weapon upgrades across the squad. In the end all the dps is the same so its not going to make a huge difference which weapon upgrades you have or don't have.
Here's the rub, though. Some of the weapons are just better than others, despite dps or Aoe. The plasma (blue gun) is the worst culprit. Horrendous accuracy even at stationary targets and the worst velocity of the lot, save for rockets launched from zep and sparrows. The accuracy of the plasma actually seems bugged. I think PART of the issue is the size of the round. If you end up with a mouse gunner or biggin' with the plasma, hard restart the game because half the time the plasma shot will ground itself 10 meters from the mouse firing it. The plasma shot is so large and its programmed to travel the same path as other projectiles that it makes contact with the ground early and the damage is expended there. Still, even on towers, sparrows, and alike that have the clearance, the gun is always a step backwards even if it's doing 10 times the damage. With such a slow velocity, only targets that are huge, within 10 meters, or stationary will get hit. Even small units that are walking right towards the shooter will have the plasma shot go over their head. The round is that slow. Plus, the fire rate... Yikes! So many things need to be fixed with plasma. Sooooo useless...
One more thing Sorry to post again after writing a novel but to expand my observations to other weapon upgrades... I don't want you to think I believe all the weapons upgrades to be garbage. Theoretically, they have merit. I do believe they are not worth it in their current state, though, unless you're willing to shut down the game and restart over and over again until you have an army with a low percentage of plasma rifles. I'm sure this is common knowledge at this time but, just in case, here's how it seems to work. If you shut down the game completely and restart, the weapon upgrades your troops have and those loaded on your tortoises and towers will be randomized. By completely shutdown, I mean double clicking the home button (for iPhone) and swiping the War Tortoise card up and off the screen. This is not really a long term solution though. Yes, if you do this over and over and eventually get a good weapon composition, your weapons on your tortoises will stay. The trouble is, this doesn't work for everything else. Troops and towers die so they'll get randomized weapons on respawn. Also, I don't think this is how Foursaken Media intended the game to be played and, I can say from experience that, playing this way is not fun so don't go down that road. As far as the other weapons go, I they're in general better than the stock gun. I just don't think they're as balanced as they could be. In my opinion, what appears to be missing is target priority. Now, the whole game is balanced for your troops always prioritizing what's closest to them. I think, if certain weapon upgrades altered that, it could make them much more viable and the game ultimately more fun. The sniper rifle I think is a great weapon but I'd really like it if it prioritized distant targets or, to make it even easier, targets gearing up to attack (! over top). It's admittedly hard to follow the action some times but, from my observations, it appears these guns follow the same logic as all weapons: they attack the closest hostile. Perhaps mini-howitzers (the gun upgrade) and howitzer beetles could target clusters of targets when available. Same with mortar rounds. Then again, I know that is a much heavier lift from a dev perspective. Just putting it out there. The minigun I think works as it should. It does more damage, has a decent velocity, and throttled accuracy. Spray and pray. Good balance. Don't change a thing. Okay, I promise that's my last novel for the day. Please know that, although I nit-pick, I'm complaining about late game stuff here and things that can be pretty easily revamped. All in all, I love the game and thank everyone at Foursaken Media for providing us with this diamond in the rough.
Took an Ambien as well. Sorry. Lol. I sometimes lose everything with Ambien, especially if mixed with any alcohol.
I think the damage upgrades are great! What if the 25% damage is just that - what ever your current damage is, it is now 25% higher. That is how I see it working. If it was all just additive, I would agree, but when I have added 25 or 50% damage increases, enemies go down in one shot where they used to take a bunch. I generally get range, the damage depending on the unti/ type, and rarely get money. I just had a run today - Gen 44 went from a high of level 67 to 90. Kicked some serious tail.
Congrats on 90! I'm struggling in the mid 80s. Unfortunately the damage is definitely additive... Go back one page and Foursaken Media confirmed it.
Not disbelieving what was said, but putting points in damage reaps huge rewards from gameplay from my point of view.
It's nice if you have a ton of money to put into range otherwise it won't shoot anything until it's too late. The range numbers are not correct. It takes at lease 5-6 upgrades to get to close/mid field.
Different strokes for different folks... Personally I love seeing a plasma added to the arsenal. They rule the battlefield and look awesome at the same time. Yes, the game is about strategy and maximising certain stats and damage etc etc. But the other big draw card for me is how fun it all is and how cool it all looks in action. And to me, having a few plasmas adds to the fun while making it all look very damn cool indeed. Edit: But I do agree with you and Cronk below about how they're not the best weapon of choice for ground troops.
Trust us. Until patch, focus on +money(earned) and +range upgrades above all else. I'm grabbing health ones after that, but it's unknown at this time whether health is going to change down the road (I'm betting it doesn't since it'd be easier to scale a static number for health/dmg for enemies, but worth mentioning it's possible health mods will also become obsolete to help with the increased scaling/power creep that will push us REALLY far really fast) Best recipe for success is skip the +dmg mods that are ALL obsolete after 5-10 regenerations, and buy the fixed damage mods after patch releases. In fact, I'd recommend skipping L10 perk purchases until after patch as well. edit@ Sons of Anarchy - Plasma looks neat. A lot of troops tend to fire it into the ground though. It's useful for flying support since it scatters the shot a bit and helps clean up clusters of enemies, but it tends to waste dps more than we'd like (again, especially for ground troops)
A week for apple review? Bushido Beer has put out two updates already so save it. I love this game but release the damn update already lol, you could always release another one. While I'm at it though, I miss the era where games just had to be good when they came out, like cartridge games. Seems these days devs can just kill a sixer while working on their game only to be like oh shit, that was our bad, we'll work out an update, out in a month. Lol
But if they weren't right the first time, well, Missingno anyone? Anyone know what +money away earned really is? It seems we have a max, so does it take what we earned and multiply it, or does it increase the rate of gain ie reach max faster?
