I'm generation 30 max level 27 and I personally use mostly only the main machine gun and the gun towers. I start now on level 11 with about 76,000 starting cash so first I boost the tortoises armor and health up to about level 20 and put the rest into gun towers. I can unlock all 4, get one weapon upgrade, boost the the range up as high as I can and then put the rest into damage. After that I let it ride until I have another 20,000 and raise the tortoises rate of fire as high as I can then raise critical as high as I can then put the remaining into it's damage. Then save another 20,000 and repeat starting with the gun towers. After doing this a couple of times I raise the shields and health again. Here and there I will add another weapon upgrade to the gun towers. When I'm going to fight a boss I save up about 100,000 cash and unlock the assault team. Unlock all five, fully upgrade their armor, jack up their health and put a little on their damage. These guys will hold the boss (if they reach him in time) in the middle of the field and you can shoot the poop out of him.
I generally avoid weapons/supports that have limited range, since I've found that I usually take damage from the snipers that stay far back. I usually upgrade my machine gun damage about 10 levels, and then focus on adding/upgrading supports while keeping my defense level equal to the leve I'm on or better, which keeps me from being oneshot by a rat sniper. Support wise, my favorite units hands down are the drones and war Zeppelin. This is because they both have infinite range and because they are flying, which means they don't have the elevation problem of firing into the ground that the mouse gunners (both big and small) have. I do eventually pick up most support units, because having a large number of shots going out can help when a wave is a mass of units. I usually skip the sparrow entirely, since it dies very quickly at higher levels and also seems to waste a lot of its time flying very slowly from target to target.... It really would benefit from either a faster flying speed or a longer firing range. In terms of which upgrades to pick, I go with whatever gives the best damage/coin, with a priority on drones/Zeppelin. The weapon upgrades multiply an individual units damage by 4x, so you can compare it to whether increasing damage of adding another unit gives more bang for your buck.
Billy, You are a great addition to Touch Arcade. Lots of input,always helpful. I certainly was not trying to make you feel bad. Just being my normal teasing self. Sorry that circumstances put you in that position. There are actually quite a number of severely disabled gamers on Touch Arcade, and they are all great gamers. Your mind is your greatest asset, I am glad that you are using it rather than just trying to escape. That is a route that is all too frequently sought. I wish all the best for you and yours.

But you do have Shadow Minions too, right? I'm not trying to poke fun at you. I do feel for you. Shadow Minions just sounds really cool and are less depressing then the reality of your situation. It's really awesome though that you've found a way to deal with it. Have you ever considered making your own game. Surely you have tons of ideas and you know what the players want so it could be sweet.
I am at my 8th generation and highest level is 18. My personal preference is the support. I almost never upgrade machine gun. The number of support and the weapon upgrade make things very easy
I'm even worse than you at the game, I'm stuck on level 6 with the same amount of wait time and can't go to next generation until I clear level 6.
Beef up that armor. It will almost completely stop those one hit kills. I was having the same problem before I started upgrading the armor.
Yeah we're fixing this situation in the next update. For players "stuck" in that situation where they cant go next generation but keep dying, we've changed the continue to be an ad watch instead of a token. We've also lowered the required level for going next generation, which should make it less likely to get stuck in the first place. Also want to note, we found a major bug with 2x Damage store item >_< People with this purchased should see a HUGE jump in power next update!
I'm on generation 14, max level is like 42 (ongoing game) I buy and upgrade everything. I let the game go on auto up until level 20 or so. In level 30-40 I don't buy upgrades until I have roughly 100k saved up. I feel that upgrading your machine gun is essential as this is basically the main form of damage in the game.
I meant to ask forsaken this. How much money do you get each time I press on the ad button.. I am getting a lot of heroes charge and that 3 kingdoms. I think I have watched at least 100 ads I hope that give u guys plenty of money for making such an additive game
I was wondering that if I should click on the add if they get more money. Also, what is the cap for the money you earn while away? Is there a cap number or is it basic on time (hours away)? I know there is the perfect of money made while away and I assume that is just the rate but not hold long before you are "full" to collect.
Heh, I appreciate you thinking about that! Ad revenue changes drastically from day to day so its hard to say. Yes there is a cap on away money, based on the wave you're currently on. We're changing that in the first update to be capped based on your current best level, which will generally increase the away money cap for everyone... sometimes quite drastically!

Quit, but came back. Having a wonderful time now with the game and playing an hour or so each day. Balance is good. The only heartache I have is the mining requires you to pick up the product, and the amount of money you get for the amount in f money you spend seems like a waste. If I spend nothing on mining, I generally do almost as well as if I constantly upgrade the mining . The cost of increasing mining is huge compared to rewards.
Holy crap! It sounds like you guys are doubling down on the awesome in the game. I hope Apple doesn't put the update through review hell and let it out fast. Can't wait.
